Hildar can't quite remember where he might have read about the blue liquid in the vial as he and Tronus join Nera in the master bedroom. However, while he isn't able to identify the noxious substance, the odor does spark a thought in Hildar's mind. When he was looking at the religious effigy in the corner, he noticed some half-charred strips of vegetable matter that gave off their own distinct aroma.
Primalists are like druids right?
So I'm ready to move on to the Social Encounter to pursue the items in the investigation I mentioned earlier.
He'd be looking to corroborate the mayor's story via witness accounts or hearsay/simple recollection of what ppl observed without knowing what they were observing. Was our guy seen by anyone leaving at the time that the mayor said? What state did other ppl who aren't the mayor observe him to be in? Was he seen at the ferry/actually leaving town/did he make it that far? Did he have the taxes (wasn't there an actual chest, or is that just in my brain?) when he left?
Find the cracks we need to poke.

Giving in to her curiosity she stands up and opens the door. "Well aren't you going to come in?"
I'm guessing Bruv will go check the weird drug flowers or ask stuff around

And if that is the case, I'll try to Augment before going into it.

Intrigued by the trap door hidden among the floorboards, Tronus and Hildar agree to help move the bed out of the way. Each of the inquisitors takes three of the four corners and on a count of three, tries to lift. However, try as they might, the bed refuses to budge. It seems to be made of a dense hardwood, making it difficult to dislodge with sheer muscle power.
In the village square, Nekurr is drawn to the card game like a moth to a lantern light. The Half-Catfolk crosses the earthen square toward a building with a dingy wooden sign that reads, "Erfan Eswyse, Physic." Three elderly men—two Humans and a Gnome—sit on small, wooden stools, huddled over a wooden table. They are embroiled in some sort of card game. The Gnome looks to Bruv and Nekurr but otherwise doesn't look up from his game. He throws down a card on an opponent's stack. "And that'll be a full Fisherman's Net, then, Hoggie. I'd tell ya to pay up, but I think the baron's forces of law and order might be here to arrest the lot of us for illegal gambling!" The sarcasm drips from his cracked, high-pitched voice.
You're starting with 2 setbacks. You can assume one of those is due to a general dislike of baronial outsiders attempting to push folks around.
You can each take a crack, or one of you can narratively assist the other. I'm not seeing this as a full-fledged social encounter, but it's not a one-roll resolution either.
Remember, Nekurr is still plagued by bugs. Bruv will be, too, if he drops his Utility spell to cast Augment and maintain that.
You've heard this guy sells something against bugs. No social check to just ask about that.
