Despite the heavy jacket, Hank's side is more solid than his attacker expected. The cue cracks and splinters, digging its wood into his hand.
OOC:
Adding some flavor to use that threat for 1 strain.
Apr 4, 2020 11:30 pm
OOC:
Just a clarification: Cue won't break for less than 2 threat. (Standard for improvised weapons.) But for flavor, we can say maybe the tip came off.

OOC:
I can't find the cost to activate weapon qualities, but I want to activate Disorient of I can with the 2 advantages.
Apr 5, 2020 1:36 am
OOC:
Yeah, sorry. I meant to clarify that. The crack wasn't intended to functionally change the cue at all. Just to have a reason to give him a strain.

OOC:
All weapon qualities are activated for 2 advantages unless otherwise indicated in the weapon description. In this case, you used the "generic" Brawl (Grappling) attack, though, and it doesn't have the Disorient effect. Generic Brawl (Grappling) and Brawl (Striking) attacks do base Brawn damage (plus uncanceled successes), and only have the Knockdown quality.

I think the confusion is because last time you used the Takedown unarmed weapon, which adds a boatload of other potential effects and extra damage in exchange for costing 2 strain to use each time.

Nevertheless, 2 advantage is enough to give him a setback for his next attack (per the standard advantage-in-combat chart), so let's do that. Make sense?

The punk doesn't seem too pleased to be hunched over, his arm pinned behind him. He focuses for a moment, then attempts to spin around and at least relieve some of the pressure on his poor limb...
OOC:
He'll use the 2 advantages to take an immediate free maneuver, Aiming for his next attack on Guy.

Rolls

Brawl (Grappling) + Aim

3 Success, 2 Advantage, 3 Failure

Total: 2 Advantage

"Listen, punk. I'm willing to let you keep your arm if you just apologize. Clearly there was a misunderstanding and things got out of hand. These things happen when you're young and hot-headed. I'll even buy you a drink to smooth things over. Whaddya say?"
Apr 5, 2020 5:51 pm
OOC:
Sounds like Charm? Upgraded twice or him being at your mercy -- RP, with setbacks for his buddies now being riled up, too, +KK. RPKK final pool. (I had intended this to be a setpiece battle, but if you'd like to try to take out this threat with diplomacy, sure, give it a go!)
Apr 6, 2020 2:05 am
OOC:
I dont expect this would work, just sounds like something my character would do lol. I'm not sure what I'm upgradin. Greens to yellows?
Apr 6, 2020 2:09 am
OOC:
Nah, roll your positive dice normally (unless you add a Story Point). I mean the difficulty gets upgraded. The guy only has Presence 1, so he's a sitting duck for Charm checks, but since he's being pummeled presently, I'm saying there are two auto-upgrades to the difficulty: P -> R -> RP, plus two setbacks.
Apr 6, 2020 3:53 am
OOC:
Ah ok I gotcha.

Rolls

Charm

4 Success, 4 Threat

Total: 4 Success, 4 Threat

Apr 7, 2020 2:42 pm
The punk taps Guy's arm as he lets out a strained grunt. "OK OK OK OK OK! Let me go, man!" As Guy releases him, he crouches on the ground, rubbing his arm in pain.
OOC:
Consider him out of the fight. However, 4 Threat = a new threat emerges!

A blonde woman in a denim vest stands up from a booth, wiping beer suds from mouth onto her bare arm. "I don't goddamn believe it! Donovan just gave up to some old fart?" She slams her fist on the table. "Hell no! This is Hounds territory, old man, and you were asked to leave!" Three others sharing the booth with her stand up and cheer, a mix of women and men in similar dress.

Suddenly, Guy finds a half-full beer mug hurtling his way... It smashes on the side of his face, sending shards of glass and suds of beer into his nose, mouth, airways! Guy has to focus to cough up the foreign matter, winding him.
OOC:
5 damage to Guy before soak. Will crit for that Triumph:

84: Winded (Average to heal) - The target cannot voluntarily suffer strain to activate any abilities or gain additional maneuvers until the critical injury is healed.

OOC:
3 PCs are up!

Rolls

Ranged

3 Success, 2 Advantage, 1 Triumph, 2 Failure, 2 Threat

Total: 1 Success, 1 Triumph

critical hit - (1d100)

(84) = 84

"Okay ladies enough of the talk show." Max states still eyeing his opponent, "Your boy screwed up, you know it, Boss knows it, he's not happy but he's still pretty calm lately which is a little scray… Boss wants to know what happened out his lips personally. Only reason thugs who don't belong come in is for a takeover or when someone screws up. So hand him over for a talk so he can make things right and business can go back to normal... unless you don't want to hand him over Boss is a little edgy he's an informant because of how things went down... which ever the case us not bringing him back will be the least of your worries ladies. We're just the drivers and the messengers. So what's the verdict from the Hell Hounds? Next set of "thugs" probably won't get orders to ask unless you want to rile up the Boss." Max states with a smile.
OOC:
Playing Max's strength Adaptive. Yep, sure, we're thugs, time to BS we're hired goons through deception hopefully.

OOC:
Y'all sure are diplomatic for a fighting game. ;P Sounds like Max is trying Negotiation? On whom? The whole room? Just one threat?
Apr 7, 2020 6:50 pm
OOC:
Actually trying to deceive since we're not actually thugs if their HH they probably know who we're looking for and who this mysterious boss is I mentioned. Whoever is in charge since they'd make the decision to give him up or send a message they want to start something. I mean on the meta we're the thugs but the regulars are the only ones doing damage to their stuff and picking fights they haven't won yet.
Apr 7, 2020 7:23 pm
OOC:
OK -- are you aiming the Deception at the bartender (RR+3K)? At the pool player (R+3K)? At the rodeo fans (RP+3K)? The two setbacks are for the fact that there's a full barroom brawl about to erupt, and for the difficulty in them hearing you. I think things are already too chaotic to try to deceive the whole room.
Apr 8, 2020 12:25 pm
OOC:
I'll go with the Rodeo Fans since it'll be less people to deal with and easier I think.

Rolls

Depection Check Upgraded with Story Point

5 Success, 1 Advantage, 2 Failure, 3 Threat

Total: 3 Success, 2 Threat

As an on-the-fly ruling, I think Social checks will basically just inflict strain damage. But this has to be in a way that doesn't steal the thunder the social talents like Inspiring Rhetoric or Scathing Tirade that are intended for this sort of use.

On a more meta-level, your plan has a big flaw that is now exposed: All of you but Guy were all over the news, so it would be simple for the Havoc Hounds to identify you.
The four denim-wearing people at the booth pause for a moment, looking at each other with confused looks. "These are the guys we saw on TV, ain't they?" one asks.

"Yeah, I thought so -- They're the ones that killed our guys in the gym..."
OOC:
Threat = they've outed you. (You were well publicized in the gym attack, so it was only a matter of time.) Social checks other than Coercion are now auto-upgraded (P to R) against this group.

2 more PCs go!

"Technically that was gravity." Max reminds them.
