"Uh yeah, ok, yeah I'll have the paperwork done, I'll be heading over in a few for the pick up." Max states walking in and looking at Jimmy and blinks looking at the tormenters, "I think this might be why you're single." he states his hand over his phone. He pulls out a blender bottle with what looks like a disturbing green bottom half and a yellowish mustard top layer which he shakes with a vigorous amount of shaking into a dark brown.

"You need to detox, some energy, and full awareness. Drink. Should do something for your skin too." he states tapping him a few times on the shoulder handing off the bottle.

"I gotta go pick up my dog, I might be able to shift to the K-9 unit." Max explains, a slight smile on his face, "Yeah I'm still here, just giving some medical advice and giving some supplements." Max states back into his phone and he's off again like a tornado in a trailerpark.
OOC:
2 success if it's wound based 6 total from Apothecary R2, is 3 advantage enough for a free skill upgrade for the next PC?

Jimmy looks a little worse for wear, but he's at least sober and aware thanks to Max's medical attention. "Dudes... I'm OK, really. Let's get this over with!" The man looks a bit paranoid—reasonable considering what he's been through in 24 hours—but having him out and about does lend weight to your further attempts to get others on board or convince folks something's going down, and soon...
OOC:
We're at 7/11 Successes, 0/3 failed rolls.

3 advantages isn't enough for an upgrade, but it is worth 3 boosts. Nezzeraj can use them on his check, since he's facing some high difficulties.

Nezzeraj, you can try to Charm (or Leadership) on the Pantones if you want (RP + 3 boosts + 2 setbacks since they don't know you), Charm Lance to come out of hiding (RPP with 2 setbacks), or start the rumor-spreading (Hard: PPP with a setback if you suggest Lance is on board). With the three boosts from Max's roll, you're in good shape even with the setbacks.

OOC:
I'll go ahead and try to convince Lance then.
Guy calls up Lance and goes over his plan. Sadly he'll have to use him as bait, but at least he's being up-front about so Lance can make an informed decision.

"Hey, Lance, I got some good news and bad news. The bad news is the attempted kidnapping was just one of several some guy named Petrovich orchestrated. Which means he's likely going to keep trying. He's also furious at the local thugs he rounded up, the Havoc Hounds, for bungling the job. We got their leader with us now, full of contrition and sadly equally full of alcohol and piss. But nevermind that. So I think we try to lure Petrovich out. We leak the knowledge, secret-like, that Jimmy--he's the leader of the Havoc Hounds I was talkin' about--wants to meet with you and sort of spill the beans as a kind of apology. I think Petrovich will come out of the woodwork for this, trying to nap you and maybe whack Jimmy at the same time. Two birds with one stone kinda deal. What do you say? You go along with it, and all of us, along with the Pantones hopefully, will be waiting in the wings to swoop in and save the day. This is our chance to clean out some major scum in Rumble City."

Total: 2 Success, 3 Advantage, 1 Despair

9/11 successes, 0/3 failed rolls
Guy hears only a long pause on the other end of the office phone line. "Wait... You're Deb's brother, right? How did you get this num—" There's a long sigh from the other end. "Guess it doesn't matter. If you're sure you can't nab this asshole without me... Look, I don't want to put anyone in harm's way, but looks like that ship's sailed." He groans. "OK, OK, OK, OK. I'll head that way. I can be there by tomorrow morning, but I got to get going now. Set up the meet and text me the details. I'll be there." He hangs up.

But then Guy hears someone else breathing on the line... The other presence hangs up. There's a dial tone.
OOC:
Despair = someone heard that conversation...

OK, that's Round 1. At this point, someone needs to reach out to the Pantones if you want them on board (Charm or Leadership vs. RP with 3 boosts, 2 setbacks if Guy does it).

There are 4 boosts available if we use the 3 advantage from that previous roll.

Then all we need is for someone to spread rumors of the meet up to somewhere that will reach Petrovich (either among the police force, or somewhere he's known to haunt.)
May 12, 2020 5:39 pm
When Guy tells them that Lance is on board, Hank says to Jimmy, "Alright, you heard the man. Lance is down for the meeting, so now all we need is to call up the cavalry. One more pit stop, buddy old pal."

Cut to Hank leaning on Millie's hood at the drive-in. Tasha and Tyler are standing in front of him as he talks. "So what I'm sayin' is, we know this crumb bum wants to send a message. Once he hears two of the guys that got away are meeting up to share intel, he'll know it's about him. That's when your gang and ours come outta the woodwork and make this palooka wish he'd never been born."

He points back and Jimmy in the front seat of the car. "Jimmy and Lance are both in. This is your chance to get back at the guy that took Fatima. And if I know human nature, he'll sing like a canary once Tyler here gets him in an arm bar. So whaddaya say? Are the Pantones ready to show this goon what happens when you mess with Rumble City?"
OOC:
I'll pass on 4 advantages to whoever is spreading the word. Maybe the Pantones will be helping to get the rumor mill going.

Rolls

Pep Talking with Coach Hank

3 Success, 4 Advantage, 2 Failure

Total: 1 Success, 4 Advantage

May 13, 2020 1:17 pm
Tasha clenches her jaw and heaves a huge sigh. "We're in. Anything to save Fatima. We can't leave the drive-in unguarded, though." She turns to Tyler, puts her hand on his shoulder. "You stay here with enough people to scare folks away. I'll take everyone we can spare to wherever this ambush is going down..."
OOC:
All the pieces are in place. 10/11 Successes, but more importantly, you've gotten everyone on board who needs to be. Now we just need to see if Petrovich takes the bait. So first, where do you want the throw down to take place? And second, where are you going to try to spread the rumors?

Spreading the rumors: Let's say you can choose either Streetwise or Deception, both Hard upgraded with a Story Point (RPP). No setbacks for claiming Jimmy and Lance are on board, because they are. You have 4 boosts Hank banked from his roll.
May 13, 2020 2:17 pm
"Where you guys wanna hold this little get together? I'll be honest, I kinda enjoy the thought of the One Two, a little poetic to bring it home the same place it started, but there's always the potential of bustin' up a place that already got wrecked. Don't wanna drive ol' Lance's premiums up any further than they are already." Marv purses his lips and rubs his chin.

" Wherever we decide, getting the word to Petrovich shouldn't be too big a trick I don't think. Done a bit o' work down at the jail and I know a couple of watering holes the guards like, unless you already know where you're goin', Guy. I'd be happy to lend a hand if you want. Incognito might actually be a bit of a hindrance if we want Petrovuch to hear."
OOC:
I've got ygg in streetwise to contribute as a group chekc or assist to Guy when he goes to spread the word. He could either bring Marv along or just use Marv's info to help his check.
May 13, 2020 2:51 pm
OOC:
There are already 4 boosts in play from Hank, so I'm hesitant to allow more. Kermit, if you can think of something else to use 2 of those advantages on (that aren't just boosts, but something narrative), we can replace 2 of those boosts with boosts from unskilled assistance by the rest of the group.
May 13, 2020 4:11 pm
OOC:
Could it be that when Petrovich makes his move, he isn't as careful as usual? So he leaves behind evidence of the corruption that can be traced back to him (by either a superior who cares, or someone in the media)?
May 13, 2020 4:17 pm
OOC:
I like that. For 2 advantage, it can't be huge, but it might somewhat mitigate that Despair that I've left mysterious. ;)

So, 4 boosts on the Streetwise or Deception check (2 for passed boosts representing Pantone help, 2 for unskilled assistance from the rest of the party). Marv and Hank both have YGG in Streetwise, I believe, so either one of you can roll it up. Then we can transition to the showdown.
May 14, 2020 3:03 pm
OOC:
Yeah it makes sense that I wouldn't be conspicuous enough to have a big effect on spreading the word. I think once we decide on a place I would focus on setting up the ambush and coordinating everything.

OOC:
Sounds like the other players want you to make the roll, anyway. Presumably Guy is helping in some way, so the honor is yours for proposing the plan. (See my post above for the difficulty).

OOC:
For location, I'd mentioned the Old Elektria Factory in Pillsville, but I also agree with Eskaton that the One Two would be good for symmetry.

Guy follows Marv's advice and approaches several of the guards and others employed in the prison and casually lets details slip about the meeting between Jimmy and Lance. He tells it slightly differently each time, so that the rumor seems to organically spread rather than being the prepared scheme it really is. The important details are always the same: meeting at the One Two at 11pm in two days' time. But the minor details about who approached who or why they're meeting are switched up while still being plausible.
OOC:
GM edit: Guy has no business at the prison, so adding some setbacks. (Rumors could be spread in another part of town with no penalty, though.)

Waiting Music

The plan is set. You all return to the One-Two several hours before the 11 PM "meet up" between Lance and Jimmy to get prepared. From what Max is able to determine, Guy's ruse seems to have worked. Visit a few prisoners at Wholesome, spread the word through the plexiglass, and hope word reaches Petrovich.

Tasha and a good number of her Pantones keep watch on Jimmy at a safe location a few blocks away. The idea is that the Pantones will make sure Jimmy doesn't get cold feet, but to keep him away from the gym until the right time comes.

Meanwhile, Lance got back into town a few hours ago. He paces back and forth in the workout room and looks to the four of you for some indication that this isn't a huge mistake... "So, what's the plan? We just wait for this son of a bitch to show and jump him?"
OOC:
Any last-minute preparations you want to make? Home Alone-style booby traps? Stakeout on the roof? Where do you want to be when the "meet" goes down?
May 20, 2020 11:57 am
The cattle prod he took off the Havoc Hounds tucked into his belt, Hank Looks around the One Two nodding. "Pretty much, yeah. But we've got home turf advantage, so I say we make it count for something. Grab some weights, will ya, boss? Last time they didn't have the decency to knock, so I doubt they've learned manners."

Hank goes and gets the ladder, then climbs to the rafters just above the back door, where he ties several ropes. Then he cuts the ropes at varying heights and ties weights onto the ends of them. Then he moves the ladder back to the center and rigs the weights at the ceiling so they'll swing down at the back door when cut loose.
OOC:
I've got 3 tricks:
1. Dish soap and water just inside the back door so anyone entering that way gets slowed way down.
2. Swinging weights down on ropes to knock them senseless while they're trying to keep their footing.
3. A dang cattle prod.

Beyond that, I'd recommend at least one person on the roof to keep a lookout. Maybe we could also rig up the fire escape so it can't support a whole gang of goons?

Love it. OK, so setting traps is Skulduggery in this case. The way it works is that you make a check to set the trap in the first place. Later, the bad guys have to make a Vigilance check (or Perception if actively searching) versus the trapsetter's Skulduggery to notice the trap.

1. Dish soap and water: Easy (P) Skulduggery check to set.
2. Swinging weights: Hard (RPP) Skulduggery check. I've upgraded this to RPP with a Story Point because of hilarity.
3. Fire escape: Average (PP) Skulduggery check. I'll accept Mechanics as well.

Cattle prod is just a weapon, so no check there.

OOC:
Now seems like as good a time as any to treat myself to a rank of Skulduggery with the XP I've been banking. Hank's birthday is coming up, after all.

I'll start with the hanging weights, since that's the one I already described. Others are welcome to jump in on either of the others if wanted.

I don't suppose the fact that I'm used to doing manual work in the One Two is worth a boost or two? This is my first time booby trapping it, but I would have hung signs and replaced lights and whatnot. I'll upgrade with a story point as well.
OOC:
GM Edit: Adding ability die for Marv's help. Giving a boost die for familiarity.

Will pause here. Is Guy, Max, or Marv offering assistance? All three could give you a third green that may bump that to a success.
May 20, 2020 9:30 pm
"Damn, Hank. I don't care what they say, you were always the brains of the outfit." Marv winks at the 'they say' bit and moves to give him a hand with the weights.

When they're done, Marv goes to the alley. "I'm a bit more simple and straightforward, though." He looks for a couple dumpsters to push in front of the alley so that nobody can drive cars back there during the showdown.
