This is the thread where we can have out of character discussions.

Note: While the rulebook indicates that Orcs and Trolls are creature of the Enemy, the Campaign Guide stipulate they are not, but where included in the rulebook for GMs who wish to be using Orcs and Trolls instead of Beastlings and Fellgrims.

I'll be using Orcs and Trolls, but not necessarily as creatures of the Enemy. They were an ancient enemies of the elves and dwarves before the coming of man, but when the 4 demon lords came, they tried subjugating the Orcs and Trolls to their will. Many resisted, either fleeing further south (to become a minor thorn in the sides of elves, dwarves, and eventually men) or dying at the hand of the Enemy, but a few yielded to the Enemy's will (a bit how Wildling did relatively recently).

So does this mean we shouldn't assume every orc and troll we meet isn't necessarily a bad guy/monster and they might be reasonable, or are they still enemies, just not always working for the demon lords?

Goblinoids are still goblinoids, and those creatures oftind find raiding to be a much better way of life than trying to establish an actual civilization. Of course, there might always be rare exceptions...

This of course also means that Orcish is now an official language characters can take. It has no written form.

GM, you have stated that a week in this setting is 10 days long. I looked around and could find no source for that, not that I'm doubting you. Nor anything mentioning a Calendar or the like. So what are the names of the 10 days of the week? How many weeks are there in a month? How many months in year? Also, what time of year is it when the game starts. Lastly what place in our own world is similar to the area that Athrand is located in. I ask because the knowing details like these helps to create a deeper immersion into the game for me.

The calendar is covered in 'Neath the Shadow #3, the magazine for TAoS. Nowhere are the days of the week seems to be named, though I'm sure I could come up with something, but the 12 months are as followed:
Enc-Ithron, translation: "slow moon", 30 days, roughly the equivalent of the month of Novembre.
Nan-Denyr, translation: "long nights", 31 days, roughly the equivalent of the month of Decembre.
Daur-Ithron, translation: "bleak moon", 30 days, roughly the equivalent of the month of January.
Elith-Erain, translation: "silver days", 30 days, roughly the equivalent of the month of February.
Elith-Denyr, translation: "silver nights", 31 days, roughly the equivalent of the month March.
Nos-Melen, translation: "rain end", 30 days, roughly the equivalent of the month of April.
Breth-Ithron, translation: "fleet moon", 30 days, roughly the equivalent of May.
Teth-Denyr, translation: "short nights", 31 days, roughly the equivalent of the month of June.
Gad-Ithron, translation: "bright moon", 30 days, roughly the equivalent of the month of July.
Mal-Erain, translation: "gold days", 30 days, roughly the equivalent of the month of August.
Mal-Denyr, translation: "gold nights", 31 days, roughly the equivalent of the month of Septembre.
Nos-Heran, translation: "rain start", 30 days, roughly the equivalent of the month of Octobre.

Thank's, I could come up with the days of the week to run by you, if you would like. What about the following.

Dwarves are the worst. Wow. But I'm okay with that. I'll be the best gully dwarf that ever dwarfed a gully.
May 7, 2020 2:24 pm
Yeah, dwarves seem a bit lackluster. Not sure if I'm missing something here. Maybe their low attribute are meant to balance the fact that they have special abilities like elves but are not limited to 1 Fate Point like the elves?
May 7, 2020 7:05 pm
I'd say change it to what you see is right, probably won't break anything.
May 7, 2020 7:06 pm
I have been suggested to start with humans and bounce other races off that standard if you're interested in game-balance.
May 7, 2020 8:07 pm
I'm fine with how the character turned out. I was simply surprised that dwarves were inferior to humans and elves in every stat. But they do get a couple racial goodies like night vision and infinite load.
May 7, 2020 8:10 pm
Hmm... infinte load... Dwarven packmule?

OOC:
Possible we can have an area to post description and such for our characters?
May 13, 2020 5:36 pm
I guess you can always post it in the character creation thread.
May 13, 2020 5:44 pm
I can do that, but it will make tracking down such harder in the future.
May 13, 2020 6:02 pm
Okay, I'll make a character description thread then.

Hope those rats don't prove to us how damaging combat can be... Add giant rats to new creatures seen..:O
