Kel tries to recover from the miss, focusing only on the satisfaction of cracked ribs. She unleashes another flurry of strikes before she can be set upon by the Kobolds. She makes sure to try and finish off the one she hit with her blade. She wasn't going to make the mistake of leaving it wounded and not dead.

1d6+2 : (6) + 2 = 8

OOC:
Kel, you got a critical hit on your unarmed strike. I’m just going to roll the extra damage die.
The cultist howls in pain as Octavia’s spear drags across his upper thigh. He’s not in as bad a shape as the injured kobold. Kel swings at it with her sword but it manages to deflect the blow with its dagger. However Kel once again using that moment swings around with her leg as delivers another absolutely devastating kick to its chest. The kobold looks like its choking for a few moments before it falls dead to the ground.

The cultist swings his sword at Octavia and draws a gash across her left upper arm. The kobolds look scared, glancing over at the cultist quickly. They decide to stay and they try to stab Kel and the Greenest guard, but their frantic attacks are easily repelled.

OOC:
Okay, I’ll keep that in mind if he’s still alive by the time he goes next. I’ll give Zachary a few more hours to post, otherwise he’ll defend.

OOC:
Starting round 2 now since I’m off to bed. Same principle as last night, I’m gonna roll for the guard to allow two of you to go. Zachary, you’re defending during round one, but I’ll still give you the extra action during this round from the surprise round. So you have two actions to use.
Map as of start of round 2

Rolls

Guard Vs Kobold - (1d20+3)

(3) + 3 = 6

The cultist was being stubborn, if these went on much longer she would need to start using spells, yet Octavia did not know what else they would face on the way, and didn't want to tap her energy too soon. She gave one more thrust, if he was still standing she would need to consider magic.

Rolls

Spear - (1d20+6, 1d6+4)

1d20+6 : (1) + 6 = 7

1d6+4 : (4) + 4 = 8

OOC:
So sorry, job schedule changed drastically and I've been busier than ever
Feeling inspired by a better understanding of the information in the book, Zachary lifts the object over his head while pointing at the creatures.

Whispering an incantation, a sharp, sinister sound briefly covers the vicinity

Drop dead, creatures!
OOC:
Casting a Toll the dead for each kobold. If I am not so lost, I think they are already injured, so they gotta pass a WisSave or take 1d12 damage each.

(11) = 11

OOC:
No worries man. Both Kobolds are actually healthy, in the future I’ll be clearer on if any of the opponents left standing are hurt or not. I’ll roll the wisdom saves and if they fail I’ll roll d8s instead
While Kirsk and Octavia are locked in a duel with the cultist who surprisingly are managing to dodge and deflect their attacks. Zachary mumbles an incantation. You all hear the sound of a large bell tolling and the two kobolds drop to their knees, blood pouring out of their pointy ears. One of them drops to the ground dead, the other one is left barely standing.

The cultist slashed wildly at Octavia and again hits, this time her right thigh. The kobold on the other hand wants no more part of this. Despite being afraid of the cult, it’s currently way more afraid of this group of characters. It turns to flee off into the night. The guard is quick to seize the opportunity though and he thrusts his spear forward, burying it deep into the side of the kobold. It falls dead.
OOC:
Guard killed the kobold on his attack of opportunity from the kobold disengaging. Only the cultist is left standing. Kirsk and Kel, you’re up

Kirsk moves to flank the cultist with Octavia, "The others have been killed, do you yield?"
OOC:

The cultist looks around at his fallen comrade and the dead kobolds. With a trembling hand he throws down his sword, gets to his knees and puts his hands in the air. His face may be obscured, but there’s no doubt that he’s terrified. "P-p-please...I-I yield!".
May 22, 2020 4:24 pm
"Drop your weapons and disrobe to your breeches and we will bind your hands behind you." turning to the guard, "bind his wrists and take him inside, we need another guard down here but they wanted someone to answer some questions. Do not harm him but if he resists, kill him."
May 22, 2020 5:04 pm
The wizard rubs off the dust off the cover of his book and walks closer to Kirsk
OOC:
U are so nice Sassafras, thank you
A very merciful decision... Even though we just massacred them all

Zachary said with a mixture of surprise and concern in his voice.

Kirsk looked at the wizard confused. "The Ptarian code dictates Honor and Correction to the enemies of Justice and Good. At any time those others could have thrown down their weapons and I would have shown them the same mercy. They were armed and willing combatants, looking for us, they were not innocents. If nothing else Bahamut the Justicemaker has given this man one more chance to change his life, he should be grateful for the chance to make amends."
May 22, 2020 6:33 pm
Octavia lowers her spear partially, but still eyes the remaining cultist with suspicion. 'Is anyone else hurt, I hope Gond would be willing to grant me a few healing spells at least.' She asks even as she tries to prevent blood escaping her wounds. She would prefer others be tended to first. They were young and had more to give.
May 22, 2020 7:58 pm
The cultist shakily dresses down to his breeches. As he removes his mask you can tell that he's probably not much older than 20. The Greenest guard shakes his head in response to Octavia's query as he binds the cultist's hands behind his back and yanks him roughly to his feet. "Get up you scum! You have much to answer for!". He drags him along with him and turns to you just before they disappear into the tunnel, "Thank you for your help, we've been stretched so thin...I don't think we would've been able to catch one without you. I'll make sure to get back to my post here as soon as I've delivered the prisoner to Governor Nighthill. I'll be seeing you soon. Good luck".

They disappear into the dark, leaving you standing in the shallow stream amongst the dead raiders. Towards the east you can see the faint outline of the temple tower in the orange sky.
OOC:
No worries Octopus, at the end of the day we're all supposed to have fun so I try not to be too strict and help out with the dice in these kinds of situations. All of you, please feel free to let me know if you think I'm too hard in terms of giving you enough time to post. I'm just trying to do my best not to let the game stall. I know that once you face harder opponents I'll probably have to be more lenient with it as well.

As for the game, are you guys heading east towards the temple?
May 22, 2020 8:00 pm
OOC:
Once we're healed up that sounds good. I'll roll a heal, for anyone who says they are hurt, otherwise will go on octavia

Rolls

Healing - (1d8+3)

(7) + 3 = 10

OOC:
If I'm not mistaken, I think you were the only one hit Octavia
You all travel east, following the stream for about 2-300 feet. The temple towers above most of the other buildings in the city and the stream takes you straight to it, so you have no issue keeping your bearings. As you approach you climb onto the bank and move up to the wall surrounding the temple. The temple itself is square in shape and is made of fieldstone with a peaked slate roof, the wall is short enough for you to climb over but you will remain hidden while crouching behind it.

As you approach you see the back of the temple and a group of raiders consisting of four men (3 are human sized and 1 whose slightly shorter stature and stoutness makes you think he might be a dwarf) and four kobolds. The men are all dressed in masks and similar black leather tunics with flared mantles as the two men you encountered by the tunnel.

They are heaping burning straw up against the back door, but have had no success in actually causing any damage to the structure. The only thing they've succeeded in is creating huge, black plumes of smoke that has started to cover the surrounding area and which grows denser as you observe them. You hear the dwarf angrily shout at one of the other cultists, "I thought ye knew how te set a bloody fire!".

You can also hear intermittent loud thuds and a few voices coming from the front of the temple, but you can't see them from where you are.
