Seeing his teammates collapse from their injuries, Zachary can't help but feel a cold sweat run down his back, despite the heat from the flames.

In a desperate act, Zachary gathers the pieces of his courage, broken when he saw the hope of getting out of it alive, running away when it saw the blood.

Using the fleeting trace of courage left on his body, Zachary murmurs another enchantment, his lips trembling in despair.

Evil creatures, no ... I won't let them do this!

With a motion of his hand, Zachary tries one last trick to turn the tide...
OOC:
Ok, so I try to cast sleep. I just hope to get
high rolls to stop them all
OOC:
Edit: Please tell me I made it

Rolls

Sleep effect pool - (5d8)

(62674) = 25

May 12, 2020 9:44 pm
OOC:
Wow sorry everybody, I did not see that happening...
May 12, 2020 9:46 pm
OOC:
No worries...I did know the first load of module can be very lethal. The Kobold pack thing knocks out many...
May 12, 2020 9:59 pm
OOC:
My intention was to try to avoid killing the Kobolds and sending them on their way, sort of sticking with the ideals of Bahamut, and if that didn't work kill the leader and intimidate them sort of thing. I've never really played this kind of character before...
May 12, 2020 10:06 pm
OOC:
It still would have happened. I mean I was gonna start the fight anyway.
May 13, 2020 4:29 am
OOC:
Kirsk finished off the kobold hit by frostbite, I decided to do that in order to kill one, otherwise you’d had 6 still standing. I’ll make sure to scrutinise each fight a little bit harder in terms of difficulty. Although to be fair, their rolls have been insanely good from the start. But this here is going to be interesting...
The 5 remaining kobolds wobble on the spot for a second before they all collapse, snoring loudly. "This way, I know how to save your friends but we must hurry." Cuth looks heartbroken but determined to try and help you all, just as you tried to help his wife.
OOC:
Okay, you have 1 minute before the kobolds wake up. Kirsk, you could use you relentless endurance feat to go to 1 hp, if you do that you guys can carry Octavia and Kel out of harms way. Nicely played Zachary
May 13, 2020 6:54 am
OOC:
I will actually go ahead and assume that you do that Kirsk, considering the peril you're in. Otherwise let me know.
Kirsk groggily gets up to the surprise of Zachary, you were sure that he was down for good. A determined Cuth quickly directs traffic, "before they wake up, you half-orc, you take this one," Cuth points to Octavia, "you young man, you help me with the other one. Kids, stick close to me and keep an eye out. We need to get to our shop".

The kids (a boy and a girl, both somewhere between 8 and 12) nod, tears still streaming down their faces. They creep along the wall with you guys in tow and the boy (looks to be the older one) peeks behind a corner. His head quickly snaps back and he presses up against the wall looking scared. A few seconds later he peeks out again and this time he motions for you to follow. He takes his sister's hand and they both sprint over to a building on the opposite side of the road, Kirsk following quickly after with Octavia on your shoulder, Cuth and Zachary in the rear, awkwardly shuffling along with Kel held between them.

You get into the building. The door has been knocked half off of its hinges and the interior of what looks like an apothecary store has been ransacked. Cuth motions for you all to hide and be quiet and as you do you hear a group of groggy, angry kobolds run past the store. After a moment or two, Cuth tells you to wait here and he hobbles into a back room in the store. He comes back holding a potion caddy. He hands Kirsk a potion filled with a red liquid, "Drink up, luckily I had some hidden away". He then forces potions down the throats of both Kel and Octavia who instantly coughs themselves back to consciousness. You all sit and catch your breath for a second, but Cuth quickly starts speaking with urgency in his voice.

"This is our...my apothecary...but we must go at once, we're not safe here. The only place we're safe would be the keep. It's not that far from here, but with so many of these...these...bandits on the loose, I need you to help us." He looks pleadingly at you all.
OOC:
Well, thanks to Zachary's amazing clutch move, the Kobold Krew lives to fight another day...or at least another hour or so, you still need to get to the keep (or the hell out of town if you're dicks xD). If you help them to the keep you can either try and stealth, or you can just run for it. If you stealth, give me 2 stealth checks each. If half fails on each "turn", I'll roll for an encounter. If you choose to run for it, I'll do two d8 rolls to determine if you encounter anything.

Rolls

Kel healed for - (2d4+2)

(33) + 2 = 8

Octavia healed for - (2d4+2)

(14) + 2 = 7

Kirsk healed for - (2d4+2)

(34) + 2 = 9

Dragonfire, screams, screeching. The scenes ran through Octavias mind as she wakes. She hisses as pain shoots through her side. She remembers running to the woman and then pain in her side. In the old days she used to be able to pull of such stunts. Seems like not anymore.

She takes in the others in the room as Cuth speaks. There was one person noticeably missing. She'd failed. Again. 'I'm sorry..I tried..' She aims her words more at the floor than Cuth as she fiddles with the cog at her neck. 'I'll get you to the keep. I promise'

'There are too many of them, we should move quietly'
OOC:
You guys are going to have to pick up after the person in chainmail, sorry :P.
May 13, 2020 2:06 pm
OOC:
Oh wow it worked! Great, we got another chance guys :D
I can't believe it ... it worked!

The wizard exclaims, stunned by a feat that he believed impossible. Despite his shock, this was not the time to celebrate.

Heeding the man's cue, Zachary lifts his partner's unconscious body.

After hearing Cuth's request, Zachary can't help but think about how risky the mission is, but he gathers his thoughts by seeing the children.

Guide the way Octavia, I follow you.

OOC:
Good job with sleep, that was key
As the orcish blood rages in Kirsk veins he comes to, ready for one final blow of his hammer when to his surprise, the wizard puts them to sleep. He quickly follows the directions of others and carries Octavia into the room. "That was powerful magic wizard, I thank you for your quick wits." Turning to the man, "I'm sorry for what has happened, I tried, but I have failed." He guiltily drinks the potion, "I apologize for my rash actions that could have killed us, I will learn from my mistakes and it won't happen again. If the Keep is where we need to be, then so be it. We will get you there. I must warn you, I am not very stealthy with this on." Kirsk lifts his arm and everybody can hear the metalic sound of his chain mail.

Rolls

Kel is fairly silent once she awakens. The look of guilt on her face speaks wonders, and she makes a promise to herself that she would not be so careless.

She nods her agreement to follow the others to the keep.

Rolls

Stealth - (1d20+4)

(17) + 4 = 21

Stealth - (1d20+4)

(11) + 4 = 15

Cuth nods at your commiserations and holds out a hand. "Don’t apologise, you tried to come to her aid when many wouldn’t have dared to. You almost paid the ultimate price for it. You did not ki...kill Linan, those...monsters did." Tears silently stream down his face, how he maintains his composure is beyond you. "We need to get to the keep now, before these raiders have it surrounded. Here, take these, just in case." He hands you all a potion of healing.
OOC:
Please note a potion of healing each in your inventories
You all exit the apothecary and silently make your way down the streets toward the keep. The chain mail on Octavia and Kirsk does make more noise than you’d hope, but the general noise from the dragon above and the skirmishes around town seem to mostly drown it out. You turn a corner and to your relief you can see the gate to the keep and a clear path! Now you just need to make a ru- "Therrrrre they are!, a voice croaks in common just before you were about to clear the last building before the keep, and five familiar looking kobolds step out from the corner. Two of them looking are looking pretty hurt, but they all still manage to smile, or at least look like what you’d think a smiling kobold would look like. "This time you won’t get away!". The normally craven kobolds look confident as they ready their daggers.
