Part 1: Goblin Arrows

Mar 1, 2021 2:26 pm
Looking for Severus' lead as to who to attack , Alstaer calms his breath and starts to summon a small crackling flame in the palm of his hand.
OOC:
We go for the goblins I presume?
Mar 1, 2021 8:45 pm
At hearing Severus make his declaration, Yeemik is taken aback, fully expecting that the barbarian would have seen the advantage of having three-to-one odds against the formidable bugbear. Then his eyes become hard as he says, "Then you choose Yeemik kill you before Klarg get chance. Kill them all!", he orders his companions.
OOC:
Round 1 begins! Turn order is as follows:
--> 1. Severus (21)
2. Klarg (18)
3. Osvaldo (16)
4. Bug (15)
5. Ripper (14)
6. Alstaer (13)
7. Goblins (7)
It should be noted for any engaging Yeemick or his companions that they are on a rock shelf above the party. To reach melee class you must take the stone stairs located at D7/E7. Good luck!

"Yes, Alstaer. Let's make them pay for what they've done to Sildur". With a grunt Severs hurls his Javelin towards Yeemik

Rolls

Attack with Javelin - (1d20+5)

(7) + 5 = 12

Mar 2, 2021 5:25 pm
Severus throws the javelin at Yeemik, who manages to duck out of the way and it goes clattering against the wall behind him.

Klarg, on the other hand, matches up the stone steps, morning star in hand, and swings at one of the goblins accompanying Yeemik.
Surprisingly enough, the goblin ducks the swing, more my cowering than by any actual skill.

Osvaldo's bow attack also misses the traitorous goblin.
Mar 3, 2021 9:07 pm
After the confusion and arguing and Severus leaping into action, Bug sees little choice but to jump in himself. Dashing towards the stairs as both daggers flash in his hands, he will slide in to attack the goblin Klarg swung on, confident he could be in and out before the bugbear ran out of targets.
OOC:
I'm not sure if I can close the distance to a goblin with my move. If not, I'll just make one move and hold until I'm in range.
Also, not sure if Klarg counts as an ally for my sneak attack damage, but I'll go ahead and roll it anyway.

Rolls

Main hand attack - (1d20+5)

(2) + 5 = 7

Off hand attack - (1d20+5)

OOC:
Man, this round is not going well for the party.
Bug rushes in and slashes the goblin twice with his daggers, but the goblin manages to duck and dodge each attack.
OOC:
I just realized that I didn't drag Bug over on the map before I took the screenshot. We'll say he was at E5 and ran to G7 to attack. That way he's not directly next to any goblin except his target.
Mar 4, 2021 5:16 pm
Klarg's wolf Ripper rushes up the stairs and attacks the goblin to Klarg's right. It grabs hold of the goblin by the throatand thrashes it's head back and forth, tearing the companion's throat out. The goblin falls to the ground bleeding to death.

OOC:
Hoho, but just you wait until you see one of my legendary attack rolls!

Edit: Oh wow, I think that actually hits!

Edit2: Okay, it better freaking hit!
Alstaer roars as he hurls a fire bolt towards Yeemik

Rolls

Fire bolt Vs Yeemik - (1d20+5)

(12) + 5 = 17

Damage - (1d10)

(10) = 10

Mar 5, 2021 5:28 pm
Alstaer's fire bold hits Yeemik square in the chest and the goblin staggers, reeling and only barely manages to stay on his feet, his chest now covered in a terrible burn, skin blackened and sloughing off where the bolt hit him directly.

The goblin confronted by Bug and the Bugbear (I should start a band with that name) slashes at Klarg with his scimitar. His weapon cuts deeply and Klarg gives a bellow of pain and anger as his chest is sliced open.

Yeemik, realizing he's in dire straights, rushes over to who I think we all know is Sildar Hallwinter by now, and grabs Sildar by the hair, drawing his scimitar to the man's throat. "You wait now and hear! You help fight Klarg now or I kill friend by own self!

Halwinter, hands and feet bound, can do nothing as Yeemik Readies an Action to see if the party joins him against Klarg or continues to attack him.
OOC:
Round 1 ends; Round 2 begins! Turn order is as follows:
-->1. Severus (21)
2. Klarg (18)
3. Osvaldo (16)
4. Bug (15)
5. Ripper (14)
6. Alstaer (13)
7. Goblins (7)
Yeemik is Readying and Action right now with his scimitar to the throat of a badly beaten Sildar Hallwinter, already sitting on the precipice of death.

OOC:
I think everyone still has their Inspiration Point from Christmas, don't they? I don't recall anyone spending theirs.
Mar 9, 2021 7:28 pm
OOC:
I spent mine :(
Mar 9, 2021 9:41 pm
OOC:
I still have mine! Yup, I played this with a friend before the pandemic hit, paladin and monk, pally got unconscious, I had to drag him out mid combat and evaded the goblins so we can rest and both heal up. Surprisingly rough encounter for 1st level.
Mar 10, 2021 7:41 am
OOC:
Ooh yeah, I still have mine. 5e can be brutal at level 1 sometimes. One of the first games I ran as a DM was Tyranny of Dragons and I managed to almost get a TPK in the first encounter xD

OOC:
@therecusant: You didn't specify where exactly you wanted to place Severus, so I put him at F8.
https://i.imgur.com/oTtoD4d.png
OOC:
I was in the middle of writing up Klarg's reaction to your betrayal of him and response when it occurred to me that if Severus did in fact move to F8, and he has changed his allegiance, he is now currently allied with the goblin at H8 who Klarg is fighting. I believe this would now have given him Advantage on his attack, since Klarg is surrounded on opposite sides by enemies. If you'd like to make a second attack roll due to your Advantage, go for it, before Klarg makes you pay for your betrayal.
Mar 10, 2021 7:51 pm
OOC:
brilliant point, DM! Yes, that is exactly where Severus is. Here goes.....

Rolls

Attack roll - (1d20+5)

(17) + 5 = 22

Damage (if applicable) - (1d12+3)

(11) + 3 = 14

That's more like it my brutal 'other' self LOL
