Y'all with the longer legs, hurry and break up that fight so we can find out what is going on, I'll catch up shortly (pun intended)

Few people ever thought about whether birds were capable of smiling. The answer is no ... and yet, to those who know Xoch' they would have sworn there was something about his visage that gave the impression of a smirk.

He whispers an incantation and snaps his fingers as a small Pixie winks into existence. Xoch' nods to the ruffian as the Pixie instantly appears next to it. In a strange voice it shouts something in its own tongue that few understood as a shroud of magical darkness encapsulates the brutes head.
[ +- ] Summon Fey
Xoch' will then fly and land directly in front of the hooded man.

As Kon starts running, the bum who has been surrounded by two merchants intend on driving him out away from their shop, suddenly disappears in an inky cloud. His escape plan must have been flawed though, because only his head and chest are hidden in the lightless substance. The legs sticking out of the cloud tries to run in a random direction. As the fate choose, the ink cloud is now running straight for the party. The shop keepers see nothing substantial to hit and is satisfied that the bum is leaving, albeit in an unconventional manner.

Xoch' flies into the face of the cloaked figure in the darkness. He is startled and casts a spell of his own. He winks out of existence and reappears in the street. The glyphs on his hooded robe glow purple as a disk of eldritch energy forms around a stone that he holds before him as he stares at the adventurers in the collision course of the running ink cloud.

"I don't like mages, never will." I cast Compel Duel on the mage in the middle of his ritualistic tumqua magic, and pull my sword out. "Stand down! Or if you don't then deal only with me!"

Forgive me but given my current IRL situation I have little choice but to sadly bow out of the game. Thank you everyone for having me. It has been a real pleasure.

You’ll be missed, but it was a lot of fun playing with you. I hope things look up for you soon.

Code is ill and Kilikina is occupied with thesis. Ancient is out. That leaves Odd and Battle. Let's hear from people.

Quite frankly, I've been writing a story sketch that I might want to develop, but that's only because I have a legal hearing coming up and I'm avoiding writing for that, and this epic story hasn't been moving fast enough for me recently and I don't know if I should keep going with the players that are active, or hold off. I'd like to know people's thoughts on carrying on this story.

The loss of Antethoe was a bit expected, but the party was going strong and didn't let that sad goodbye slow us down any. Are the absences now temporary or something we need to fix? The addition of two new players and now down to one, was to pick up the decision making and Odd&Ancient were great at that! Losing Jacob didn't seem a loss to the pace. Now we are back down to a crawl, so I want to make an adjustment one way or the other, yes?

I’m happy to pick up the pace as needed. If its just a temporary slowdown I wouldn’t mind to keep going with Kon, maybe a side quest? Either way, I’m enjoying the world/players/characters and would be thrilled if everybody can keep going.

I have been enjoying playing again since the departure of Jacob and was getting into it until this last slowdown. I'm all for which ever way you guys want to go. The Maztica storyline is okay, but I'm not married to it. If you, Rod, have something else you want to pursue, I'm game, but it you want to wait for Code and Kili to get back into the game (if that's what they want) then that's cool too. Just let me know what's what.

As for the Maztica storyline, I'm still waiting to tackle some legs. :)

Definitely still interested in this campaign. I’m not changing course. I’m just shifting gears and maybe setting up scenes differently so that part of the party can carry on some if not everyone can be in. Text a bit with Kitty tonight just to get a feel for her involvement. I’m trying to reach Code. Ironically I live only 15 minutes from him lol.

While the dwarf slides across the sandy street and tackles the running legs, toppling the dark cloud down on top of him, the mark mage turns one eye cockwise to the paladin and replies, "You stand still puppy. I'm painting a picture of your grand arrival so Camazotz will know you have accepted his invitation." The stone and magics sends out a red vertical line that traces all the contoured and modeled surfaces of the scene as the line rotates around and over the adventurers.
Apr 5, 2021 1:28 am
"Errrr, Kitty? what magic is he doing?"
Apr 6, 2021 1:34 pm
Having the time to finish his spell, the mage allows the red light to recede into his stone which he pockets and says adieu to the adventurers, "This will be plenty to assure the First Man that you are here and willing to submit to our will. See you again in the Cave of Echos at two am." Upon completing his salutations, he vanishes.

The legs try to struggle and kick Kon who did not hear the mage at all.

I fear I chose my target poorly!

Xoch' will try to entangle (DC14 strength) the man trying to kick Kon.
Apr 7, 2021 1:57 am
The vines spring up from the ground to entangle the legs and Kon beneath him. He struggles but cannot escape. Xoch' hears a pathetic sign coming from the inky darkness spell cloud.

I watch the mage disappear and turn to check on my wife and friends. Everyone seems unharmed except for Kon, who has been playing too much Aztec football that has landed him in a dark tangle of vines with a stranger. "Hello stranger!" A voice from in the tangle of vines and legs and arms answers, "Umm, hello?"

Xoch' the entangle spell --

Erm... that could have gone better. Sorry about that.
He'll help Kon to his feet and order the other man to stay down.
