I vote we make a Communal Thief, and just have people cycle through the character. Sneaky McThieferbreeches, Thief with frequently changing personalities.

It's working well for me, would be nice to have a thief but with the weak skill progression we probably aren't missing anything until 5th level...

I'm fine with 4 people.

They definitely do have that, but they also level up faster than any class as well. I'm pretty sure Angel hit Level 2 after your first return from the Moathouse. I'd have to go back and take a look, but I'm pretty sure he would have been pretty close to Level 3 by the time he was "retired".

But I'm good with 4 players, if that's what we want to got with. One less NPC I have to control if a prospective player ghosts us.

Perhaps, if we wanted a fifth, a more targeted casting of the net might work? Someone we know is dependable and active, as opposed to whoever rocks up to the thread first!

Agreed. Better to invite someone solid.

I propose we put Gilly up on Mal's shoulders. Double the warriors in one space.
The movement retcon is totally fine with me.

It works for goblins!

Then we put a trench coat on them, and combined they're almost tall enough that they can get into a rated R movie together.

I really screwed up, arming Turuko with his quarterstaff, tbh. The AD&D module clearly says he carries a quarterstaff and a dagger and it makes sense he would have the quarterstaff as his main weapon over his backup dagger, I would think, and a staff (and thus quarterstaff) isn't even a weapon in Moldvay's B/X rules, so Gavin Norman tossed it in the OSE book on his own, and for some ridiculous reason, gave it the "Slow" property. Why the heck would a quarterstaff be slow?

Had he used his dagger, any damage would be the same, but he could have gotten in some licks at least that 1st Round but since the staff puts him permanently at the back of the turn order he couldn't act in the same Initiative as those ghouls and got slept on his Saving Throw by the time his turn did roll around.

Ridiculous...

Honestly, with how shifty Turuko has been, I ain't even mad.
Dec 8, 2021 12:29 am
Yeah, but now I can't do anything shifty to you with him... ;)

You could just ignore the slow property lol.

Hrmph! "Pardon my Flan, but methinks we may be a bit fucked."

Yeah you're not kidding. I often forget how lethal the old modules were but this one seems on par with a DCC mod! Feels like 1/1000 chance of survival. If we all die maybe we should make a team of all fighters in plate mail and mob through like the wrecking crew! Lol

All wizards. We'll destroy one to three enemies a day with magic missile, then retreat.

We'll go old-school. Eltrezar, Meltrezar, Geltrezar...

These Level 1s kill one stinkin' OGRE without taking a single hit and all of a sudden they think we're playing 5e, or something...

I'm not going to give you any clues or help you out in any way, and a TPK is possible here, but I will say I'm not 100% convinced you're out of this fight yet. It could go south, for sure (I mean more south that it has already), but some smart tactics and some dice swinging the other way and you can very well be back in this, knowing what I know on the back end of this DM Screen.

The three attacks, with every success forcing a Saving Roll is hurting you guys pretty badly, but if you look at those die rolls, these ghouls have been throwing a lot of natty-20s, 19s, 18s... Those things are gonna get damage past even your most heavily armored PCs...

I don't know. Could be a cleanout... But you could walk away from this fight alive (at least some of you...)

Ahem! It is as my family has always said. He who Smeltrezar, Deltrezar."
