Right in the middle of a ship to ship battle? Or were you thinking of after the battle, assuming we survived. And we could find some recruits at the mining station. I have the opinion that we would be more successful if we had a couple more players. I've never felt very comfortable with such a small group.

Yes, the research station on the planet would be a suitable place for new crew members to join the crew

Though I am not against small groups (I have found groups of 3-5 work best in PBP otherwise it tends to bog down a bit) , I agree that we probably need one player at least to cover the engineering/mechanical needs of the ship.

BTW I should be able to post again though my schedule is in flux still.

BTW. If you have any kind of issue with my style of GM'ing the game just contact me and I'll try to resolve it.
This is the first game that I lead in PbP style so there can be some ways that I can improve myself.

I'm gonna bump my initial post tomorrow so that I'll maybe find some players

I am getting a bit confused with what we are trying to do here, maybe a bit of ooc discussion would help me.

The way I see it we have 3 options.

1- We go all together for talking and either strike a deal or fight them.

2- We split up. One group talk to distract, the other free the hostage. Once/if the alarm, we either fight or escape.

3-We sneak together, ideally at night, to free the hostages or subdue enough of them before they realise we are there.

ChiHiRu is up for any of them, ideally one that bring a bit of fighting ;)
He is specialised in grappling so he can take out a few guys easily if he can reach them.
He is not stealthy, but he can see in the dark if we sneak.
He is also equipped with a hunting rifle for long range but the slow firing rate would let the other bandits time to react.

Whatever the plan, let's not hesitate to throw ChiHiRu in range of the gun wielding bandits. He is tough and that is probably or best bet of taking them out quickly.

What do you think?

I see that everything that's more 'open worldy' is quite difficult to pull off in PbP. I experienced this myself as a player too.

Whilst in F2F you can have a healthy amount of discussion in order to come up with a plan, in PbP any kind of gauging the possible approaches to a problem can take weeks and that hinders the flow of the game

After this encounter I plan to make the campaign a bit more straight forward.

I find that especially true with the first adventure of new players/characters. Until some kind of group dynamic is established, nobody wants to go over anybody else so it can become an endless wait for confirmation :p

What about we send the NPCs as distracted and we make the players party the infiltration group?

I am find by that, We were going to have a distraction anyway that seems to work best for what we want to do.

Dotty already volunteered to be the distraction. She is small and looks pretty harmless.

Past the end of the term for my son so I finally have a moment to relax. I’ll post today after Costco and grocery shopping.
