The area is plunged into total silence as Stormsong finishes his spell. Looks like this may be a silent kill after all!
Aug 3, 2016 2:13 pm
I focus on my bow and arrows, feeling nature's disruptive energy flow through them, imbuing them with an unnatural hardness. I quickly nock two arrows and send them flying towards the more dangerous looking of the hobgoblins.
OOC:
Using my bonus action to cast Hail of Thorns, and then using Horde Breaker I get to make a second attack as long as that guy is within 5 feet of the other guy

Rolls

Attack 1 - (1d20+7, 1d8+3)

1d20+7 : (4) + 7 = 11

1d8+3 : (7) + 3 = 10

Attack 2 - (1d20+7, 1d8+3)

1d20+7 : (6) + 7 = 13

1d8+3 : (1) + 3 = 4

Hail of Thorns Damage (Dex Save) - (1d10)

(8) = 8

Adding Bardic Inspiration! - (1d6)

(4) = 4

Aug 3, 2016 2:56 pm
Xora's first arrow misses, but the second hits the trailing hobgoblin, exploding outward and launching sharp thorns at his companion. The hit hobgoblin is torn up pretty good by the thorns, but is still standing, and the other one manages to duck out of the way of most of the thorns and takes minimal damage.
OOC:
H1 (in front of Kama) has taken 4 damage and H2 trailing slightly behind his buddy has taken 8 damage.

Both of them made their saves.
Aug 3, 2016 4:43 pm
Kama's mouth moves in an inaudible curse, and he is momentarily surprised by the sudden vacuum of sound. With the presence of hobgoblins, the half-orc's military instincts kick in, and he spins Talon for an overhead swing at his closest foe. Surging with a burst of energy, Kama's follows through with a reverse chop.
OOC:
Action Surge, attacking twice with Talon.

Bonus action to use Second Wind.

Rolls

2H Attack vs H1, Damage - (1d20+6, 1d10+4)

1d20+6 : (14) + 6 = 20

1d10+4 : (4) + 4 = 8

Action Surge attack, Damage - (1d20+6, 1d10+4)

1d20+6 : (10) + 6 = 16

1d10+4 : (2) + 4 = 6

Inspiration to attack roll - (1d6)

(2) = 2

Bonus action, Second Wind HP - (1d10+2)

(2) + 2 = 4

Great Weapon Fighting damage reroll, if applicable - (1d10+4)

(10) + 4 = 14

Aug 3, 2016 5:09 pm
The gnome follows behind his large half-orc companion, making sure not to be struck by his great weapon. Tumtwig focuses his magic to the surface of his palm then moves in close enough to release a shocking grasp on the hobgoblin in front of Kama.

Rolls

Shocking Grasp (Advantage if metal armour) - (1d20+5, 1d20+5)

1d20+5 : (14) + 5 = 19

1d20+5 : (5) + 5 = 10

Damage (can't take reaction if hit) - (1d8)

(4) = 4

Aug 3, 2016 5:10 pm
Kama bursts into motion behind the arrows, swinging his blade overhand at the first hobgoblin. The blade proves to be truly strong as it goes halfway into the creature's chest before he pull it out, steps forward over the falling body of the first hobgoblin and swings the blade at the second hobgoblin's neck, neatly decapitating it.
OOC:
Bravo! 150 xp for all of you!
Aug 3, 2016 5:14 pm
Gimblyn watches the hobgoblins fall, declining his enchanted hand.

"Heh.... well then, good job."
Aug 3, 2016 5:18 pm
I point to the bodies and motion for my comrades to move them. I then listen through the door to see if there has been any change in tone or volume.

Rolls

Perception - (1d20+5)

(9) + 5 = 14

Aug 3, 2016 5:19 pm
The voices hold the same inflection as before. It appears that whoever is inside is still making their deal.
Aug 3, 2016 5:29 pm
Stormsong looks at Kama with a raised eyebrow, obvious that he's quite impressed, and helps him drag the bodies behind some barrels in the adjoining room. He rejoins Xora, and relaxes his concentration on the silence spell once everyone is in position. He whispers to her, "What's your favorite color?", while preparing his mind to cast Faerie Fire.
Aug 3, 2016 5:36 pm
Kama takes a moment to catch his breath, then mentally prepares himself for what he believes to be an sweep of the adjoining room. He gives a nod to indicate his readiness.
Aug 3, 2016 6:09 pm
Gimblyn nods as well, directing his gaze at Kama. His eye contact meant he'd follow his lead.
Aug 3, 2016 7:55 pm
I consider a moment before I respond to Stormsong. "Green." Then, I rush into the door and point my arrow at whoever looks to be in charge. "Drop your weapons and surrender, and we may let you live." If anyone seeks to attack me, I will aim to wound rather than go for a quick kill.

Rolls

Insight? - (1d20+5)

(14) + 5 = 19

Intimidation - (1d20+2)

(20) + 2 = 22

Aug 3, 2016 8:25 pm
Xora hastily opens the door to reveal a crude living space, with thick furs thrown on the floor to serve as carpets, old trophies hanging on the walls, a large bed to the north, and a brazier of coals burning brightly. A round table with several chairs stands to the south near the door. Near the table, on the floor, is an unconscious dwarf who looks badly beaten. You can't tell past the blood and bruises for sure, but it looks to be Gundren.

Leaning on the far wall is a rather large bugbear with a large wolf lying at his feet and a female drow speaking to him in a low voice. The talking stops as you enter and then humanoids' eyes pop wide open in shock. After a second of shock the bugbear reaches for a large morningstar at his hip and he growls, "Snarl, get 'em!"

The wolf stands up and growls before it begins to advance menacingly.
OOC:
You're gonna get the surprise round here! Give me your actions!

That intimidation roll got you the surprise round, don't waste it!

Just before Xora makes her ranged attack, Stormsong mumbles with an odd intonation,
"Reveal your weakness." A cube of light green light flashes quickly around the bugbear and friends and as it disapates, the unlucky ones are outlined in a green glow, putting off a dim light which makes them remarkably easy to see. After Xora's attack, Stormsong will slide past into the room, recognizing his role as front line defense.
OOC:
20' cube, DEX save DC 12, 10' glow
Aug 3, 2016 8:47 pm
The green light washes over all three of the enemies, but doesn't seem to want to stick around and simply fades away.
OOC:
Natural 12, 11, and 20 on the saves :(
Aug 3, 2016 9:49 pm
OOC:
Dang it! Advantage would have been helpful against these guys.
Aug 3, 2016 11:05 pm
Kama steps forward, clearing the entrance for others to take their positions. He engages the drow as she is the closest to him and slides Talon across for a waist-high slash.

Rolls

Talon vs Drow, Damage - (1d20+6, 1d10+4)

1d20+6 : (9) + 6 = 15

1d10+4 : (8) + 4 = 12

Aug 4, 2016 6:10 pm
Kama rushes in behind Stormsong and swings mightily at the drow, who throws her hips backwards. She saves herself from a mortal wound, but takes a terrible cut across her abdomen (12 damage)
OOC:
Xora and Gimblyn still have a turn!
Aug 6, 2016 2:16 am
Two arrows fly forward into the room, quick as drawn breath. The first I aim at the bugbear, my second at the dark elf.
OOC:
I'll keep using horde breaker if there's a reasonable chance they are standing close together. If it doesn't apply you can disregard the second roll.
