The Mi-Go appear to be inspecting the work, flitting between the slug things and the colour of their heads change as the slugs change colour. they seems to be communicating somehow. This process begins again and repeats; each time more of the ore is caried to the spider-machine, melted down, poured and etched into another inch of the gate.

Charles has slacked against the wall his chest still bouncing occasionally in fit-full giggles, but his face starts to draw down from mirth to a dark expression.
