I would say if you paid for that masterwork exotic saddle as I stated you can ride your mount hands free -- this basically means it is set up in such a way that you basically hold your sit with your legs and that includes up a wall or upon a ceiling however if you turn a quiver or bolt case upside down it does tend to dump its contents unless of course you have masterworked it so that it does not do that.

Sorry I have so many question, this is getting long but hopefully almost done

Yes I am using masterwork saddle for the hands free aspect. Should be fun :)

Clarification on the weight of gear - Encumbrance rules says all gear is 75% weight, so I am using this. It will still be encumbered but not nearly so badly.

Streamlining equipment and have question
Spear cost 1GP 3lbs. Made Masterwork +2/+2 (x20) Adamantium (X45) = +2 hit / +4 dmg +1 threat range, cost = 45GP
Is this correct?

Do the same guidelines in weapons apply to armor for masterwork and +modifiers, so a MW x5 would be +1 AC. Or is this covered in the Leafleatger, Darkwood, and Mythril variants?

Personality Traits :
- I feel far more comfortable around animals than people.
- I place no stock in wealthy or well-mannered folk. Money and manners won't save you from a savage werewolf.
Ideal :
- Independence. I am a free spirit. No one tells me what to do.
- Self Reliance. I take care of myself and expect others to take care of themselves as well.
- Comradery. True companions are hard to find but wort fighting for.
Bond :
- My family is the most important thing in my life, even when they are far from me.
- Children are precious and to be protected from harm and I to ensure their safety regardless of the situation. (But not sheltered or codle then so they can learn self sufficiency)
Flaw:
- I judge others harshly, and myself even more severely
- I am suspicious of strangers and suspect the worst of them

History:
As a youth he rescued and raised Pup, a giant wild spider he found as an egg. One day while still young he was exploring the woods near his home accidentally crossed into the Feywild. Together he and Pup learned to survive amidst the wild and sometimes dark Fae. After many years he found how to leave the Feywild and began searching for his way back home. After finally returning to his family he realized he was no longer suited to the life they led and so set out into the world.

Please explain this one a bit more. I mean the first half makes sense but the second have does not.
Psybermagi says:
Has sworn to destroy all Beholder kin after eating a Beholder kingdom.
Please fix the wording in this one as I am not exactly sure what you are saying.
Psybermagi says:
Disdains please from help except from children. Others should be able to help themselves, and if not then they should learn.

2 questions

Any chance rangers (and paladins) can get additional cantrips as all other spell casters have a few?

If my companion dies would I have to raise it from the dead like another character? If so can Revive and Gentle Repose be added as spells to the Beast Master or as rituals or abilities usable only on animal companions that cost spell slots or usable once per day/week/month?

I believe there is a Feat that will allow you to get Cantrips and as a Forest Gnome you technically already have one ;-) Cantrip

Hmm in regards to the spells that sounds perhaps viable. I will look into those and figure that out --- I was checking on various other spells that you might have use of that they did not grant a Beastmaster -- but then I was looking into those spells you had been part of that other Hin Sub-Race.

Man you sure are putting me to work ;-) I like that

Btw did you opt for that Hunter Tag Cantrip ?
Jan 23, 2021 5:33 pm
I think I am set so just let me know when to enter the Game chat
Jan 23, 2021 11:37 pm
Yep I took the cantrip. With my background I thought it made sense to be able to track wounded prey vs a fanatic hatred of a single type of creature. Cool variant :) It last 10 minutes and as I read it it does not consume the materials so can be recast/maintained every 10 minutes.

Any chance you would consider altering the carry capacity for quadrupeds (or octopeds) to be 10x for light, 15x for medium, and heavy at x20? Creatures with more legs can typically carry more weight. Being able to go up surfaces and use the pounce would be nice.
If not then let me know if you still plan on thinking of ways to upgrade existing companions vs replacing it.
Jan 24, 2021 12:07 am
I will consider the octoped concept but currently their are only 2 quadrapeds that get a bonus to their carrying capacities because they were bread for it the Mule and the Oxen. Even the Draft Horse only gets a bonus to its ability to pull heavy loads.

The plan for upgrading existing companions is in the works I just have to figure out what the basic difference between a 1/4, 1/2, and 1 CR would be since you can choose those at later stages and it seems appropriate that if you want to keep a pet long term that you would have a means of upping its CR through the constant association and ongoing training.

I am also looking into adjusting the Beastmaster to perhaps incorporate some of those additional spells you requested as I do agree they do seem appropriate for the same reason that upgrading ones pet would be.

Cool - thanks for all the work. I am an engineer so have trouble keeping from trying to tweak everything.

So if How about Riding horses? Str 16 = light load of 80 lbs * 2? for size modifier = 160 lbs - cant carry most people in armor without encumbrance. Basic game status assume the x15 carry capacity
Jan 24, 2021 12:37 am
That is fine -- and looking into something I found that DnD5e does seem to have guidelines for quadrapeds that they strangely did not factor into the PHB when denoting the carrying capacities of the various mounts. How extremely annoying so yep quadrapeds can carry more going to have to create an adjusted list for that now since the PHB is wrong.

Alright the Carrying Capacity for the Spider has been updated and is denoted above in the Stat Block I provided for it.

Regarding Masterwork equipment

Spear cost 1GP -> Masterwork +2/+2 (x20) +Adamantium (x25) = +2 hit / +4 dmg +1 threat range, cost = 45GP

Long Bow 50GP -> Masterwork +1/- (x5) = 250GP

Is this correct?
Jan 24, 2021 1:28 am
Yeah - with full weight gear I can fit in the Light Carry capacity! (Barely @ 110)

Psybermagi you cannot use a Long Bow as it is a Large Weapon and you are a Small Character

Also a Spear is predominately wood so the adamantium only applies to half the weapon I think I cover that in the House Rules
Jan 24, 2021 1:39 am
OK - make sense. Thanks
Will review to HR on weapon creation.

Quote:
Note: If a weapon that is made of Wood and Metal is augmented with both Dark Wood and Mythril apply the modifiers for Full to it but the Cost is x12
so transferring this to a Spear with 4 levels MW (current max) + Adamantine
4*(x5) + (x2 or x4?) x22 -x24
or
4*(x5 +x2) = x28

I was less concerned with the actual price, and more concerned with the price for that much of an improvement to the weapon performance and was not sure I war reading the end result correctly that it can stack.

Either way it does not change the price that much So say 30GP for the Spear +2/+4 w/crit 19-20
Jan 24, 2021 2:52 am
Ah okay I see I missed that piece within the guidelines I have adjusted it now -- the multiplier for a Spear to which you add adamantite to is x20 and the +2/+2 masterwork is x20 the end cost being 40gp

Now if you chose to add Darkwood into the mix which partial Darkwood does not reduce the damage then you would add in the x8 multiplier and it would cost 320 gp but weigh 25% less and have a +1 To Hit

Okay you misread it because it does say you must consume the material component and you cannot Druid Focus this component away. That being said I think you asked and I forgot to reply -- yes Ranger's can use Druid Foci -- note Rangers are also required to have a Patron because while nature oriented these spells are still divinely granted.

Baervan Wildwanderer will be my deity.
Can I train a mouse to live in a secret compartment of the saddle so if it ever is stolen then can I track it? JK
But it would be nice if I could lowjack it
