Okay under world dynamics I have posted the Patrons I have for my game and that is not one of them please reference that and choose an appropriate patron ;)

Patron is Garl (defense, vigilance)

Can Minor Illusion mask the scent of my mount if I center it on him, or does it only affect creatures within the area/affect so I can occlude the sense of smell of 1 creature

Can I use Garl's holy symbol as my focus?

Just to verify, I can craft Antitoxin and Minor Healing potions with Herbalist kit at half price (or less if I can collect materials)

Can I have small, CR 0, animal friends/traveling companions? 1-3. Like Raven, weasel, dog... ? A tresym would be cool but I doubt I would have seen one as it sounds like we are in the northern cooler regions.
Wherever he travels he aquatints himself with the local animals. So they could be from his home or picked up in his earlier travels. Not for combat, just flavor. Quogrim is very protective of his companions.

Are you skilled with the Herbalist Kit (aka did you take it as a Tool Proficiency)?

Yes you can use Garl's holy symbol as a focus along the other Druid like foci -- but remember Hunter's Tag's material component cannot be focused away -- for while it has not cost it is very specific

Yes you can purchase a pet -- note purchasing does not mean you bought it -- it just means its part of your starting resources that you acquired along the way

I have herbalist kit proficiency

Understood about material cost specific to target which
is consumed during the casting of Hunters Tag - I assume blood, hair, are ok - but what about items of clothing (ug to eat but for tracking bonus still ok) Would a single hair be sufficient? How about blood from the tip of my whip if I strike them?

My race says I often have small animal friends - but no background/class feature saying it comes with me. I was just asking if one was willing to accompany me and Pup on our travels - small animal may not like Pup too much - but I thought I would ask.

List some options for buying if you say I can and have to go that route and I have 22GP after all items accounted for.

Okay with a bit of a caveat I am going to say okay to the Tressym which you picked up while in the Fae Wyld having found it seriously wounded by an arrow. The cost in resources for the Tressym is 200gp
[ +- ] Tressym

So to get the cat I need to lose some gear. Argh, decisions 😭

I will forgo MW Short Bow to get 'Whiskers' (yeah I sick at names) since it understands Sylvan I will look into that for a better name later.

It will be harder to get Master work weapons out here I assume but since it is a rare opportunity I think it is well with it.

Well it is a highly intelligent Beast about equivalent to a Pseudodragon in usefulness and rarity so yeah not cheap to have acquired and kept -- also keep in mind it is highly mischievous ;) which can be a blessing and a curse sometimes

Great let's call him Loki. Nope I think Puck

Was the caveat just the resources cost?

This should be fun 😀

Just to be clear I do not control Puck, and may as you pointed out have to handle situations HE makes, but I can request his assistance.

Can I understand him with my Forrest Gnome ability? I already speak Sylvan so he can understand me.

I am assuming that Puck and Cef (better name for Pup - the wolf spider) get along OK and I can leave the two to look after each other for short periods of time when I cant bring them with me. Between their mobility and Pucks intellect they should be able to keep themselves safe from most danger.

If you look into that Spoiler I did on the Tressym you would have seen all the caveats and considering the original template those are fairly significant caveats. Still definitely not something to sneeze at.

I would say while Puck tolerates Cef it does not care much for it -- as instinctually that spider would be one of its predators -- further considering the cats nature and all he would rather not have you out of his sight and considering a cat in town, even one with wings, is not going to cause alarm so no reason for it not to tag along. That and it can get into much more mischief in a town than outside one.

Minor Illusion creates a smell it does not directly mask a scent further the smell cannot cause harm but it can stink real bad if you want which may or may not mask the scent of anything within its area of effect.

Okay great, well except you cannot seem to spell your pets species Tressym, ;-) but that's okay I will look the character over

A lightly armored, though heavily armed, gnome comes out of the barracks. He walks with a spear in hand and has a sword strpped to his hip, and a bow and quiver attached to his pack. It isn't the weapons that catches you eye but the strange cat sitting on top of his pack, cleaning its paws. The gnome glances around and seems to take interest in Ashton and Carric when he sees them and heads in their direction. Serve the Village he says with fist to chest facing Shahadur and Kezzel in turn and lastly to the others. The cat looks up at the commotion, glances about, yawns and does a great stretch and extends wings, each longer than it is, out at the same time. After completing it stretch it launches into the air to land next to Kezzel who seems to know it and scratches it behind the ears. Are you the fellows what talked to Valziver about finding Niantzu in the west woods yestereve? he asks. Names Quogrim and Niantzu is a friend of mine as well. Valziver asked to to meet him here and told me a bit about you and that you were in the latest batch of requits.

I appreciate your enthusiasm but that is not where I planned to introduce you -- please wait just a bit longer thank you

To avoid confusion and clarify.
While mounted, Cef acts as a controlled mount
The initiative of a controlled mount changes to match yours when you mount it. It moves as you direct it, and it has only three action options: Dash, Disengage, and Dodge
My understanding of mounted combat is our AC are independent but I control and benefit from it's movement.
A dodging mount is +5 AC, not the rider.
A Mount that disengages does not incur attacks of opportunity and neither does the rider.

When not mounted
On your turn, you can verbally command the beast where to move (no action required by you).
You can use your action to command your beast to take the Attack action. Once you have the Extra Attack
feature, when you take the Attack action the beast can make a single attack as one of your attacks.
As a bonus action you can command the beast to take the Dash, Disengage, Dodge, or Help action. It takes attacks of opportunity and other reactions without needing your command.

I assume while mounted Cef can not attack or help.
I assume I can use the lance as per standard mounted combat rules.
