Part 1: Prisoners of the Drow

Janko interjected quickly in the midst of Ardulaer's purr. The half-elf had to admit, she may be able to pull in a few too many guards if they had all seen her pressed against the bars. Barben began to speak in Undercommon.

"Heh, the real men wouldn't be guarding the cells with dainty woman in them."

The bard was insinuating that the guard didn't have interest in woman and wasn't tough enough to guard only men. He stood up and walked closer to the guard while looking him in the eyes.

"Real men would have prestigious armour, not these rags the Mistress gives you. You look pathetic."

Janko looked the guard from boots to the tips of his ears with an unimpressed look exaggerated on his face.

"You're not a real man, guard. You're a worthless pawn that delivers our food.

He spat at the guards boots, turning the dissatisfied look to a disgusted one.

"Now, don't even think this lustful woman has any real interest in you. Get us our grub or get the fuck out of our faces, scum."

Barben starts to walk away as if he has no more interest in the lowly guard, blowing off any comment that he may have.

The guard looked down to the side before taking a step closer to Ardulaer.

"You don't think we were told about you?" the guard spat. "You have no standing here. But if you want to have some fun in your last days here, who am I to turn my back on a lady?"

Janko began taunting the guard, as Braegar circled the cell to take up position besides the entrance. Janko attempted to weave his words with the familiar arcane magic but felt the spell fade as soon as it formed. The words hung in the air, but it didn't seem to have the effect that it normally did.

The other guard eyed him angrily. "You better learn your place, half elf. Or it'll be feeding time for you."
OOC:
@fluglichkeiten No need to roll anything else.

@Valcos As far as Janko knows, the spell should have worked, but for some reason, it didn't.

"Ignore him, he's just jealous. He knows no half-elf could compare to a real drow man! And what about your friend? He doesn't say much does he?" She looks directly at the drow with the crossbow, "The strong silent type, is it?"
Apr 29, 2016 3:57 pm
Under his breath, almost a mumble.

"Oh, definitely jealous... stupid drow"

The bard couldn't understand how the drow couldn't have been slighted by at least one of the comments. Janko took a step aside, still watching the drow woman try and seduce the guards. Maybe she was the only hope of getting them to come inside the cell.

"Some of us know what happens to those who act beyond their place," the other guard said to Ardulaer, casting a sidelong glance at the drow prisoner, still sitting against the wall in the cell.

Janko methodically went through his experiences throughout the years and recalled that there are spells or wards that can be placed on an area to prevent the castin of spells.

"Him? He's not a real drow like you. He told me he used to be a big shot, but anyone can see he's a nobody. Not like you two, you're obviously going places."
OOC:
Ardulaer is still buttering these two up, but the comment about the other prisoner is intriguing so she's hoping to provoke a reaction about that too.

"Like I believe a word you say," the guard said, but he approached Ardulaer nonetheless, getting within arms' reach.

The other guard behind him, held his loaded crossbow aloft, aimed at Janko, who had previously hurled insults at him.

Ardulaer face wore a welcoming smile even though really she just wanted to crush the windpipes of these fools.

"Show me what you've got," she said looking him up and down.

Janko looked over more intently after the guard took aim at his direction. Guess the insults did ruffle their feathers a little. Thats something, at least. The guard was quite close to Ardulaer, he seemed to really be struggling with his urges.

Barben took a closer look at the guards' equipment, looking for anything that would benefit them.

Wil keeps his eye on the one with the crossbow, and begins to wrap the silk cloth around his hands. He scans their bodies, looking for a sign of a key or something that will help them escape this predicament.
OOC:
I'm wrapping the cloth around both hands, so I can get a strand in between them to use to choke the guards if they come closer.

Ardulaer and Janko both eyed the guards carefully, but they could only see the crossbow and bolts each carried with them. Wilcome gave each guard a careful glance and suspected that there was something attached to their belts. He couldn't tell what it was--a key? a coin purse?--but there was definitely something there.
OOC:
There are two guards, one is close to Ardulaer at the cell entrance, the other is standing about five feet back with a loaded crossbow pointed at Janko.

Wilcome, make a sleight of hand check to see if the guards notice the silk rope.

Janko disliked the guard pointing his loaded crossbow directly at his unprotected self. The bard didn't particularly fancy being impaled by a sturdy bolt, he already had enough pain with these headaches. The chances of that drow firing that bolt is probably pretty high.

I might as well keep the attention on me. The bears in this cage are the real threat.

His head throbbed and his skin was agitated, though he didn't want to show that to the others. Barben walked closer to the cell's bars and tilted his chin up at the drow guard.

"There are bears in the woods, my dear drow. I fear them myself." he tapped his chest softly. "You should leave now before a claw finds it way to your throat." he pointed at the other guard near Ardulaer, gripping his neck with a clawed hand. "Your bolts wont do you any good with what's out there beyond these cages." The bard held the bars tight "I'm glad I have this cage to protect me, you can't say the same." Janko nodded his head a few times with a serious face.

Barben wasn't saying anything in particular, kind of talking with his train of thought. He was buying time and distracting, hopefully a little confusion will open a opportunity somewhere.

As Janko chattered behind her Arulaer just kept eye contact with 'her' guard. She had him. She knew she had him, it was just a matter of reeling him in,

"If only we had met under better circumstances," she sighed wistfully, "you should have seen my apartment in the family house in Narbondellyn. It was just a short walk form the Matron's Theatre. We had a private box, if only I could have taken you."

She sighed again for effect, gauging his reactions to this tale of woe, was there any hint of sympathy?

The guard with the loaded crossbow looked at Janko dismissively.

"Bears," he scoffed. "Woods. Too bad you have so little time left here among the living. You might learn what you really have to fear here in the Underdark."

The guard suddenly turned towards Wilcome, his attention suddenly pulled away when he saw Wilcome messing with a cloth.

"Hey! What do you have there?" the guard called out. "Give it here before you get a crossbow bolt to the chest."

The guard who had been talking to Ardulaer turned away from her, his attention caught by the other guard shouting. Ardulaer seemed disappointed since, as far as she could tell, the guard was enraptured by her and completely sympathetic to her plight.

Janko was actually pleased the guard was dismissive, he saw it as a chance. Maybe rambling wasn't such a bad idea.

Don't fuck it up, bard.

Not being far from Ardulaer, he moved in closer to her and turned the drow woman's shoulder to face him square. Then with one movement he leaned in to her right cheek while extending his right hand through the bars to the guards belt. He whispered.

"Good effort, m'lady. I wouldn't have said no."

The bard quickly glanced over to see where his hand would land, hoping to snag something.

Let's break this bad roll streak...

"Who me? I'm not sure what you're talking about." Wil looks over at the quaggoth, and says in Elvish "Do you mind taking a crossbow bolt? It may help us escape this prison." He starts inching closer to the quaggoth.

Worried that things were starting to get out of hand Braegar looks around at the other prisoners to see what their reaction to this was

I hope Wil will forgive me for this

He looks at the drow leveling his crossbow at Wil

"Please shoot him, that elf has been nothing but a pain in my ass. He never stops moaning. But, wouldn't it be more fun to cone in here and cut him a bit? I mean, why take the risk that he will move and you only clip him with that bolt, when you can get up close and smell the fear as you slice pieces off him?
