Eventually the weapons will have Speeds and Knockback but currently I have not added those in yet -- but you generally do not benefit from making a Staff from Darkwood since they are not all that heavy to begin with.

So Masterworking a Arcane Focus Staff to +2/+2 for 100gp and Silvering it (+75%) for 75gp is about the most you can do with that. However you might want to carry an extra spell focus in case you lose your staff for some reason.

However if you really want to make it out of Darkwood it looks like this:

Arcane Focus Staff (5 gp) x Darkwood (x10) x Masterwork (+2/+2) (20) = 1,000 gp
+ Silvering (75%)(750 gp) = 1,750gp

Note to alleviate future confusion though I have update the guidelines to clarify these points -- sorry they were not clear enough

I submitted my character for approval a few minutes ago.

However, I saw that Fairborne seems to be back in the play.
Are you ok running this game as a 5 PC group?
Feb 18, 2021 8:18 pm
Yes it holds up to 5 no issues optimal is 4 to 5 as long as everyone stays active we should be just fine

Good !

I submitted the character. Should I just wait for you to introduce the character to the group in some ways? or post in when approved?

You are part of the group and you could have been there all along or like the other character arrive late due to something be out of place or some other detail you needed to take care of prior to joining up with the others.

Hey GeneralET I was looking at your character and I have to ask where did you get the price for this?

Keoghtom's Ointment (2) 10gp 1lbs

I ask because it is considered an Uncommon Consumable Magic Item which means it would have a minimum cost of 101gp pre-game but would most likely cost more than that since it would require at least a 2nd level spell as well as a 1st level spell cast at 2nd level to equal its effects. That would mean as a minimum we would be talking 150gp for the 1st level spell at 2nd level and 200gp for the 2nd level spell for a total of 350 gp for a single dose pre-game.

Also this is how I would go about figuring out what the base market value was for any item. Then in-game this would be affected also by its rarity as well as its permanency (aka permanent items cost much more than consumables).

You are right it should be at least 100gp per bottle from what I saw. I probably missed a 0 while typing it. I'll recompile everything and adjust with the new price to make sure it fits the budget.

When you say a single dose, you mean the 1d4+1 as in the item description?

When you talked about background, I don't see inheritor in the character creation guideline, do I look at the right place?
Feb 22, 2021 4:02 pm
Oh okay sorry I missed the Inheritor will work on that one today

No when I say 1 dose I mean one single does that magic item in the book would be more expensive. However, I have been mulling of the cost of consumables as what the guidelines do does not make sense.

1st Level Spell Consumable Potion costs 50gp --- but a 1st Level Spell Consumable Scroll costs 100gp --- this is inconsistent and makes calculating the value of various items extremely difficult.

I have been considering taking the base prices figured by translating the powers to Spells and Levels and for Consumables and reducing it by half -- this would cause a major refund to a handful of players as that would mean a first level Scroll would only cost 50gp plus the normal 50gp to put into ones spell book. As such I am going to go this route to make things consistent.

Thus again :

.... 1st Level Scroll 50gp plus 50gp to put it into your spell book if you want

.... Keoghtom Ointment costs 175gp per single does and the jar that weighs 1 lbs can hold up to 5 does or you can get each dose within a separate container that equates to a vial -- so while smaller than a potion vial it has all the aspects of one

Note the magic item which contains as few as 2 and as many as 5 doses would cost a lot more and thus in essence break its category but I am okay with that

If you would like to help me and could go through and make a list of the consumable magic items that are not scrolls that would be awesome but not required ;)

I'll try to go through those items.
Can't guarantee it will be done overnight, but I slowly add those items following the new guidelines you provided.

Great and thanks -- so if you can just post that list here that work the best. Further if you will start at the beginning and word towards the end I will start at the end and work towards the beginning -- posting what I find here.

Perfect.
I assume we use the DMG as a main source?
Anything else?
Feb 22, 2021 11:55 pm
Well mostly just the DMG, but if there is anything in SCAG or XGtE those might be viable just need to keep them separate -- I will focus on the DMG though -- oh btw the Javelin of Lightning is considered a consumable unless they changed how it works.

And I will be just editing this message going forward.

Consumable Magic Items

Just to let you know I updated my item list based on our discussion.

Thanks for the update however it would have been easier if you had posted it here or at least used your character to make the post then I have a fast link to your character sheet or the information is here and I do not need to look there directly. Just a future note.

Further I have glanced over it and it seems okay will check math a bit later but no worries here if that helps
