No better time to start a Fallout game, than when there’s gas shortages in the US haha

There's our mood setter, right there. Didn't expect to read warnings on how you shouldn't fill your plastic bags with gas this morning...

Thanks for the spot. Looking forward to playing. Still on the fence on wether to pre-order or not. Shipping was costly.
May 13, 2021 2:12 pm
It was :| I had to blow my entire entertainment budget for the month of April to pre-order it and ship it to the US lol. But it was definitely worth it to me

One thing the Fallout 2d20 rule book brings up is having the group world-build together. If you feel comfortable, as I put info in the Setting Details page and whatnot, don't be afraid to share any ideas you might have of things you come up with or would like to see in a Fallout setting based on what I put in there! I'm not gonna promise that everything you tell me will show up in-game, but I can promise you I’ll listen :) You can always send me a PM of ideas or post them here for everyone to discuss!

And if you have any questions about any rules or anything, don't be afraid to ask! :)

The map isn't displaying. Got an error when I try to go to the link.

A couple of ideas for now:

1) Vault - A half-opened vault hidden deep in the swamps. Its interior is a gaping mouth of darkness, swamp water has seeped in and there's a veil of silence around its immediate vicinity. Who knows what secrets or dangers lurk within...

2) Ghoul encounters - Feral ghouls and sentient ones alike. A small settlement surviving amidst the rotten stench of the swamp. Perhaps their numbers are dwindling and they need supplies.

3) Swampfolk!

Oh, and I really enjoy the survival mechanic in Fallout. Is that something the book touches on?

Haha, great minds must really think alike! I already had similar ideas for a similar vault and a high population of ghouls in the area, but I completely forgot about the swampfolk from Point Lookout! That’s good, I will fit them in, both crazed and perhaps a settlement or two of them.

So, one thing I really love about this rule book, is how much of the fallout games they really crammed into it. Anything you see in a fallout game, you can pretty much do in this 2d20 game. Crafting weapon/armor mods and food, scavenging, getting addicted to Chems, it’s all there. The book doesn’t have specific rules for a "survival mode" like the games do, but I feel like if we leaned into all the stuff in the book, it could get pretty gritty and realistic. For example, injuries are easy to come by, detrimental, and sometimes hard to get fixed. And, it has rules for hunger, thirst, fatigue, exposure to the elements, disease. So yeah lol. I don’t wanna sound like a salesman trying to get you to buy the book, but I really love it lmao.

[edit] I just realized all that stuff is in the "Survival" chapter, so I guess you could say it has survival mechanics in it lmao, I initially missed that

That all sounds great! Crafting and Chems especially.

I gotta ask, though, the golden numbers '111' - are these shiny and glossy?

Also, I love survival stuff but at the same time, I'm aware others don't. How does that chapter feel? If it's feasible, I'm throwing my vote for implementing it.

That post-apocalyptic vibe of scavenging for supplies in the wasteland while 'Big Iron' plays is so damn good.

Sadly, I only have the PDF right now, the physical book is still in printing, they haven’t even begun shipping them yet. The date for that is still just "Summer 2021"

I think we should start out without all the survival elements while everyone gets the core mechanics down, so maybe the first one or two acts of the starting adventure, and then we can begin to add in survival elements if everyone is on board with that. But crafting and chems could be considered the core mechanics so I’ll probably give you guys opportunities to try that out whenever you want.

One thing tho, that I really will never check, is encumbrance. I know that’s a big thing in the video games, but I ain’t got time for that. If you would like to keep track of that, power to ya. Obviously, carrying three full sets of power armor on your back is unrealistic, but I don’t care if your .5 pounds over your encumbrance.

I'm fine with that. It all sounds quite good, frankly. Just excited there's a new Fallout TTRPG!

Also, the GM getting to use AP is an intriguing concept. Interested to see how that plays out.

Me too ;)
May 14, 2021 12:16 pm
I just got a chill down my spine. This doesn't bode well...
May 14, 2021 12:18 pm
Haha don’t worry. I try to be a benevolent GM, I feel bad when I deal too much damage to a character lol.

This all sounds great!
