Yes, Maude is with you. Her airspeed is 5 feet but you can nudge her sround like a balloon so she doesn't slow you down. Her water speed is 30 feet.

Is she safe, out of water like this, or do we have a bowl in which to keep her?

No fishbowl. Sorry. I asked her to go in the water a little before we continue on. Murky water is better than no water. I presume Laurent doesn't have any water spells or containers to fill with water?

Does she fit in the canary cage?

She's too big for the canary cage. Don't worry about it too much; she'll follow you and take to the water when she needs it.

How far was Berry from the bottom when he felt the effects of the noxious air? Trying to get a better idea of how long one would have to hold one’s breath to reach the bottom…

The shaft is 60 feet deep, but the bottom is filled with rubble, so actually 55-ish. Berry is 45 feet down, so he's very nearly there.

If it's just a layer of gas in the shaft, then you won't have to hold your breath for very long. Anyone could manage it without any rolls.

If the entire level is filled with the gas though, that'd be another matter. As no one has explored the bottom and the tunnel(s?), you don't know yet.
