Darren takes a mighty swing and the damn thing is still standing (well, more like crawling), refusing to be destroyed.

speaking of which, zombies' turn now... the one who was on Kayleigh before she left will advance on Roland. the prone one will keep attacking Darren's horse, one of the blind zombie might have a chance of attacking Weiryn instead of the woman, as for the others, their target will be pretty obvious...

Well, every zombies misses this round. Ujjaya is up next.

Worried that he'll run out of arrows, Ujjaya switches to his blunt ammunition. He draws and fires, bowshot after bowshot arcing towards the middle of the square where Weirin is battling one of the undead abominations. Suddenly, another zombie rounds a corner in the south, entering the archer's field of vision.

Ujjaya shoots at the walking corpses, sadly, his primary target just refuses to go down...
OOC:
Yeah, that's the problem of a flurry of arrows, you run out of them pretty quickly... :P
Facing the same problem Ujjaya is, Kuroi will sheathe his bow and draw his katana and then close to get in melee.

Roland is up next.

OOC:
Okay, seems you will provoke an attack of opportunity from the zombie in i5 since you don't have Point Blank Master...
The zombie misses Roland who shoots it and the whretched thing just refuses to go down...
OOC:
Seriously, WTF RGN?
Kayleigh will then attack the zombie in front of her and she destroys her zombie.

Weiryn is up next.

Feeling the well of magic, both Arcane and Divine, dwindling within him, Weiryn mutters a prayer to Pharasma under his breath and reaches out to touch the blind zombie before him, channeling the healing power of Pharasma into the foul abomination, with the hopes that the battle ends soon.
OOC:
Converting Divine Favor into Cure Light Wounds, plus the shocky shocky of my gauntlets, equals ashified zombie (I hope)

EDIT: This RNG is full of hate.

Rolls

Touch Attack (Cure Light Wounds + Galvanic Gauntlets) - (1d20+3)

(8) + 3 = 11

Damage (Cure Light Wounds) - (1d8+3)

(2) + 3 = 5

Damage (Galvanic Gauntlets) - (1d6)

(6) = 6

Jul 27, 2016 5:37 pm
OOC:
Since the description of the gauntlet does not specify if this is a swift or free action, I assume using the gauntlet is a standard action. I let you use it with a cure spell last time because you were holding a charge from a previous failed touch attack, but I'm not allowing it now because I consider you used two standard action to cast your spell and activate the gauntlet. So you either attack with your spell or with your gauntlets this round. for the zombie, this does not matter as I simply need to make a Hard to kill roll, but for you it will matter as to whether or not you spend a spell slot...
Weiryn discharges energy on the zombie, but sadly it refuses to crumble to dust...

fifth round of combat!

Initiative order:
25 Darren
15 Zombies
13 Ujjaya
12 Kuroi
11 Roland
10 Kayleigh
9 Mysterious woman (I can't believe I did not fix taht entry before... XD)
3 Weiryn

Combat map

Conditional modifiers:
Mounted Combat.
Mist is ever present in the streets and limits vision. Beyond 30 feet, creatures have concealment (20% miss chance).
Kayleigh is sickened (-2 attack rolls, damage rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks).
Weiryn still holding the charge of a Cure Moderate Wounds spell. His Deathwatch (range 30 ft., can tell if creature is dead, fragile [alive with 3 hp or less left], fighting off death [alive with 4 or more hp], healthy, undead, or neither alive nor dead [such as constructs]) is still active (Sorry, I forgot it in the last fights, but I doubt it would've made much difference).

Effects Duration:
Blinded: Creature cannot see, -2 to AC, lose Dex bonus to AC, -4 on most Str or Dex-based skills and opposed Perception checks. All activities involving vision automatically fail, opponents have total concealment (50%), must make DC 10 Acrobatics to move faster than half speed, if fail falls prone.
Zombie in d8 is blinded, 1 round.
Zombie in f8 is blinded, 2 rounds.
Prone: Creature lying on the ground, -4 melee attack, cannot use ranged weapon except crossbows, +4 AC vs. ranged attacks, -4 AV vs. melee weapon, standing up is a move-equivalent action which provokes an attack of opportunity.
Zombie in d6 is prone.

Darren strikes the prone zombie, another solid hit, sadly, its natural resistance negates some of the blunt damage... Still, another solid hit or two should get rid of the wretched thing...

The zombies will still attack, one one Roland, one on Darren's horse, one on the woman, and one on Weiryn. The zombies miss, the one on Weiryn barely so...

Ujjaya is up next!

Really game, 7 5 5 5?
OOC:
Hey, you're attacking touch AC, so it will hit anyways... You're probably one of the few characters who can get away with such mediocre rolls... :P
With a blaze of glory, Roland dispatches the last two zombies. The invasion is over, for now... As you catch your breath, the woman quickly thanks you for your help.

You gain 1085 XP each!

Weiryn takes a deep breath, then looks around at his compatriots and the woman they just worked to save, checking their health with his Deathwatch spell as he approaches the woman.

Milady, I am Brother Weiryn, a cleric of Pharasma. May I have your name, and will you allow me to treat your wounds?
Jul 28, 2016 3:59 am
Roland quickly reloads his pistol and then goes to his wagon and clears the jammed barrel and reloads the large rifle. Once those tasks are complete he will move his wagon to the center of town and post himself as a sentry.

"I am Ashlyn, and though I can tend to my own wounds, I will not refuse a healing spell if it is offered. I and my companions are called Lightbringers. We slay undead wherever we can find them. But, I guess you already knew that... We’d heard Barovia was thick with the horrors, so we came here. We found the situation worse than anything we could imagine, so I gave a few coins to a Vistani messenger to send for help. I assume you are it..."

Meanwhile, Roland is keeping a lookout for zombies... Things look calm, for now...
Jul 28, 2016 12:47 pm
Darren climbs down from his horse and approaches, "It is good to find an ally here. We too are with the Lightbringers," He looks around and doesn't see any of her companions, "Where are your companions anyway?"
Jul 28, 2016 1:20 pm
"Your message was received, Lady Ashlyn," Weiryn says as he places a hand on her shoulder, healing energies pouring forth. "Roland and I were dispatched to your aid as soon as the messenger reached the temple. We came across Brother Silversmith, Ujjaya, and Kuroi on our way here. And this is Kayleigh. She is not a member of the guild, but her sword strikes true and hard."

When the spell is complete, Weiryn sighs...dark circles forming under his eyes as he checks the afternoon sun. "These abominations...they are more powerful than anything I've ever seen. I've seen them shrug off blows that would fell three or more normal zombies. Even the blessings of Pharasma do not seem to lay them low on the first try. I am nearly spent."

Rolls

Cure Moderate Wounds - (2d8+3)

(42) + 3 = 9

Jul 28, 2016 1:22 pm
"Is there any place around here where we could take a short respite? As brother Weiryn says, these creatures are far beyond the norm for their kind and our resources are nearly spent."
Jul 28, 2016 2:07 pm
Ashlyn turns to Darren. "My companions include Thendrick, faithful servant of Sarenrae, and Mathilda, a fighter of great renown. Thendrick and Mathilda wanted to check out the church to the northwest. The townsfolk believe that’s where the zombies arise. Everyone told them to talk to Madam Eva first—she’s some sort of wise woman who lives west of town. But they wouldn’t listen, the arrogant clods. Then went to the church, confident they could handle whatever they found without needing advice. That was three days ago. I haven’t heard from them since, and haven’t been able to venture beyond this square. As for a place where we can rest and talk, the double doors to your right leads to The Blood on the Vine tavern, although, it is a bit crowded with refugees right now..."

Kayleigh interrups Weiryn while he speaks. "Her axe..."

Then Ashlyn turns to Weiryn. "Thank you for the healing brother Weiryn. I think I will be able to take it up from here on. Yes, those zombies are... odd indeed to say the least. Had you not arrived when you did, I doubt I could have held this last wave back. The zombies never breached the barricades before. If you’re here to destroy zombies, our aims likely coincide. Will you help me find my companions, escape town, and talk to Madam Eva?"
