"Come on, El Diablo," the man says quietly to himself as he swims like he's never swam before. "You got this! It's all you! This is your chance! Your time to shine!"
OOC:
He's swimming for it now. Hopefully the gang can throw the raft / mattress to him so he'll have a floatation device... maybe represented by the Bennie I'm about to spend to reroll Athletics. ;)

"Sure thing Masked Dude!" Sasha assures the big hairy wrestler. She looks around for signs of incoming sharks, with her M-16 at the ready to pop the toothy bastards.
Jan 6, 2022 1:01 pm
Dave makes a swim for it, trying not to disturb the water while he crosses the submerged street. He's aware of sharks in the area, and something with tentacles.

He makes it to the other trailer before a maneater catches his scent, and pulls himself out of the water as it bumps against the trailer where his feet just were.

From here, he can nearly jump into the bass boat. However it's tied to the trailer, but floating above it. Anchored really. Probably not an issue.

OOC:
So which trailer did he reach? A fourth, vacant one? (He and Stanley were on one, Vern and Cletus are on one, Sasha is on a different one...)
Jan 6, 2022 4:45 pm
OOC:
That's right. The fourth one, which is the one closest to the bass boat.
Jan 6, 2022 8:35 pm
OOC:
We never really specified the trailer Sasha is on, but I imagined it was the Doobie Brother's trailer, since Cletus had made some comment about trying to go there previous to Sasha dropping in.

"Well dang it all El Diablo Fuego. You didn't give me a chance to chuck my air mattress atcha! I caint help it if my eyes was peeled on them sharks circling around here."

"Holy sheeit, WATCH OUT out El Diablo Fuego! Vern sees the maneater bump the trailer Dave just climbed onto. "You got a shark after ya!"

Vern thought Dave was sure to lose his feet but somehow he made it. "Dayam, that was close!"

Let's put Sasha on the third trailer, the one on the right in the map below:

Thelma! THELMA! I'm getting hungry! I'm tellin' Ma that ya didn't feed me all day if ya don't do sumthin' 'but it! Watching Fuego save the day sure made one want a snack and if Cletus remembered, Ma had just got a new tub of cheese balls.

Dripping wet as he parades around the top of the otherwise vacant trailer, Dave raises his arms in victory. "I friggin' made it! Stupid sharks! Swam right in front of you! You're too busy eating what's left of old Crawdad, so you didn't even have a clue!"

At the mention of the old codger, El Diablo Fuego makes the sign of the cross, kisses his knuckle and points skyward to smiling sweet baby Jesus. "Take good care of Crawdad, little baby Jesus," he says quietly, before then booming, "Hey! Make some noise! Distract these vicious fishes! The boat is tied up and I gotta dive under. See if you can draw them off, yo!"
Jan 7, 2022 12:29 pm
Stanley begins banging and stomping on the trailer whenever Dave is ready to make for the boat.
Jan 7, 2022 4:24 pm
Cletus was sitting on top of the trailer slumped over looking pathetic like he was going to waste away if Thelma didn't find him somethingto eat immediately.
With his ginger head laying on his outstretched arm, the kid once again noticed the screen with the bleeping red lights. Immediately sitting up, Ummm, Fuego, ifin this gadget is right that shark hasn't moved! Give us a minute.

The kid then did the ultimate in kid insults. He dropped his drawers and wiggled his bare butt toward the shark, Come try to get a bite of this, ya ol' dumb shark!

"Great day in the morning!" Vern shouts as he hops up and down on the trailer, his boots making a clanging racket on his tin roof. Hopefully this'n attract those God dang sharks. "Cletus, mind yoself now!"

What Vern isn't sharing is that he is terrified to leave the trailer and yuk it up with the tentacled sharks.
Jan 7, 2022 9:34 pm
Sasha looks around to see if she can spot a shark in the opposite direction of where El Diablo Fuego is trying to get into the water to un-moor the bass boat. She believes, if she can shoot said shark, it would draw the other sharks away from the masked wrestler long enough for him to get the boat.

The maneater that chased the luchadore circles back toward Cletus and Thelma's trailer, the top of its fin knifing through the water.

Sasha can take a shot, if she so wishes.

Dave can untie the mooring rope, it's likely just a carbiner type connection to a d-ring on the front. Or cut the rope.
Jan 8, 2022 4:26 am
OOC:
Dave doesn't have to dive under to detach the rope? Is he close enough to jump to the boat, or will he be diving in again and swimming for a spell before he gets there?
Jan 8, 2022 2:28 pm
Dave might be able to jump it. If he took a run and got a good foot placement, but it's a ways so not a freebie. Another Athletics check would be called for.
Jan 8, 2022 3:57 pm
"El Diablo Fuego I gotcha covered," Vern shouts. "I got two bullets left with the name shark on 'em." Vern picks up the shotgun and aims near where he expects the next shark to appear.

As all the distractions begin, Dave offers two enormous thumbs-up which he raises high above his head.

"Here we go! Luchador coming in, look out below!" he shouts as he gets a run-up and then tries to leap all the way to the boat!

The boat rocks alarmingly as Dave's legs land in the water beside the boat, his chest and arms grabbing the side mightily and nearly capsizing it with his weight. With a superhuman wrench, he pulls himself onto the boat before his legs can be shortened by any passing maneaters.
