Rhograx gets down on all fours to make himself a little more aerodynamic against the wind and to absorb the heat from the sand to warm his reptilian blood some.

The party manages to endure trekking for hours though strong winds. You guys also avoided without getting lost or sidetracked on the journey to the Kamatayan Forest, Nalu's home. Eventually a fairly narrow mountain pass emerges from the horizon, finally some shelter from this damn sand. You barely manage to hear Nalu's voice through the whipping wind.

"--through that mountain! We need to get though it before we set up camp!"

Once the group makes it to the rocky cliffs, you are able to hear normally again. It's not really a mountain more than it is a huge pile of jagged rocks that have somehow jutted from the earth. It looks razor sharp in some areas, yet smooth on others. The pass is about four bodies across, the natural walls are as high as any tower in a castle, and your feet easily sink into the sand that covers the ground. There are plenty of signs that show this passage way is fairly well traveled.

Qiora assesses how much sunlight is left in the day. "How long is this mountain pass? Will we make it through before dusk?"
Oct 16, 2016 1:48 am
Nalu pulls the cloth from his head and tried to shake as much sand free as possible.

"We should make it though before nightfall, it's not an ideal place to set up camp. Peat here is scared of getting stepped on by some pack animal."
Oct 16, 2016 4:30 pm
Qiora nods, satisfied that they will not be traveling in the dark. She allows Nalu and Kyros to set the path, keeping an eye on the rocks and cliffs that will eventually surround them.

"Onward!!" Rhograx bellows.
Oct 18, 2016 9:47 am
Rhograx's booming voice reverberates across the rocky walls for a few seconds before they dissipate. Stealth checks are now at a disadvantage, but maybe you managed to scare off some of the wildlife? In any case, the party starts to head through the narrow pass, with Nalu and Qiora on point.

...

The passage is mostly straight, but occasionally there is a bend or a large fallen rock in the way. At a certain point it opens up into a large area. Thanks to Qiora's keen senses, she immediately notices a party of half-orcs headed in the opposite direction! They seem to be talking about what they are going to do when they arrive into 'town'... or something like that. They look pretty rugged, and might be mercenaries.
OOC:
You have a few moments to do something before they'll get a chance to see all of you. Anyway, here's a map! Purple = Nalu, Red = Qiora, Orange = Rhograx, Gray = Valrakas, Lavender = Kyros. Green = the half-orcs. Brown = rocks.

Rhograx whispers, "Shall we cut the vermin down?"
Oct 18, 2016 8:46 pm
Kyros will take his bow from his back and carry it in his hand and then wait to see what everyone else thinks they should do
Oct 18, 2016 9:23 pm
"Well, let's see what they want, first," says Qiora. "We're diplomats, remember? I'll go on ahead and talk to them. Whoever doesn't want to join me can remain here with your weapons in case things go badly." The bard proceeds forward with confidence.

Valrakas grunts and moves to accompany Qiora.
Oct 19, 2016 1:00 pm
The first half-orc has a handsome face and a big shiny sword, the second looks like an average half-orc with a big (not as shiny) poleaxe, and the last one has as many scars as he does ranged weapons. Their conversation ends as Qiora and Valrakas approach. The two sides meet in the center of the open area, and the handsome one speaks first.

"Well met, my dear. Are you and your beast out for a walk?"

The one with the poleaxe snickers, but the scarred one keeps his eyes trained on Valrakas's hands.

"Are you a musician? We play instruments as well!"
OOC:
Now would be the time for the others to roll for stealth, if they wish. Everyone not engaged in the conversation should give me a nature roll as well.

Kyros would like to look at the sides of the pass to see if he can find a little bit of high ground to climb up to even if it is 6 foot or so

(20) + 2 = 22

Nature check - (1d20+2)

"Well met!" replies Qiora in greeting. "Indeed, it's a wonderful day for a journey and taking in the sights! Where are you and your dashing band of musicians headed off to?"
Oct 19, 2016 5:54 pm
Valrakas, who stands a few paces behind Qiora (at least 20ft from the nearest half-orc), stands with his arms crossed, grinning. His weapons remain in their sheaths. Anyone who knows anything about minotaurs knows that even without weapons to hand, members of that race are never truly unarmed.

The green outlined areas are possible places to climb, but it's ragged rock so it'll be a bit difficult.

Nalu also sticks to the side of the wall.

Nalu's nature - (1d20+4)

With that roll you deftly climb the walls and find a nice vantage point. You can see the whole area from up there.

Nalu is able to lay low (not that it's hard with how small he is) next to the cliff near Rhograx. He looks pretty frightened, and is muttering something.

...

Meanwhile with Qiora and Valrakas, the pleasant conversation continues. The handsome half-orc laughs.

"We play these metal instruments strapped to our sides, our gigs pay pretty well but our audience hardly ever asks for an encore! We're headed towards Ginko's Court, maybe you and your friend should come with us?"
