"Ooo, Ginko's Court sounds like a marvelous place," says Qiora. "We're actually checking out a forest, which I hear is lovely this time of year, and I hope to find some truffles that my friend here likes to have with his dinner. But I'd love to learn more about Ginko's Court. Is it far? What sort of exotic place is it?"
Oct 20, 2016 8:15 pm
What the fuck is a truffle?! Valrakas wonders, but says nothing.

Rolls

Insight on the half-orcs. - (1d20)

(7) = 7

Qiora also assesses the handsome half-orcs. While she can read between their lines, the halfling hopes to glean more from other unspoken cues.

Rhograx tries to slip behind a boulder, but within hearing distance, but slips around to the wrong side of the rock...

To both Qiora and Valrakas, these half-orcs look like they could be brothers. The one watching Valrakas suddenly shifts his attention to the background, and he easily spots Nalu and Rhograx. Kyros managed to slip behind some cover at the last second.

"They're ambushing us!"

All three unsheathe their weapons, making that cool 'schwing' sound. The handsome one looks a little sad, but he points the tip of his longsword towards Qiora nevertheless.

"Thought you could sneak one past us, eh? Bards are always full of it!"

...

Rhograx silently curses himself for hiding on the wrong side of the rock, but he does notice something about the area. As his boot sinks into the sand, it reveals some spherical objects... insect eggs?
OOC:
Remember, we're doing block initiative, so the whole party moves at once.
@Qiora - Roll a 1d20 for the group's initiative.

OOC:
Qiora ignored me! Anyone, roll initiative!
Oct 26, 2016 3:53 pm
OOC:
I didn't realize that you edited your post to ask for initiative. Normally I just check to see if there are new posts. I'm so sorry!

Rolls

Initiative (no modifiers?) - (1d20)

(13) = 13

Oct 27, 2016 11:20 pm
Rhograx starts playing/singing Godsmack Voodoo ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9SSUQxGjZZ4 )

When it is my turn in initiative, I'd like to cast Bardic inspiration on Valrakas, saying "Feel the snake bite enter your veins!"

I'd like to cast Bane on the three Orcs. DC of 13

Bardic Inspiration:
You can inspire others through stirring words or music. To do so, you use a bonus action on your turn to choose one creature other than yourself within 60 feet of you who can hear you. That creature gains one Bardic Inspiration die, a d6.

Once within the next 10 minutes, the creature can roll the die and add the number rolled to one ability check, attack roll, or saving throw it makes. The creature can wait until after it rolls the d20 before deciding to use the Bardic Inspiration die, but must decide before the GM says whether the roll succeeds or fails. Once the Bardic Inspiration die is rolled, it is lost. A creature can have only one Bardic Inspiration die at a time.

Bane:
Up to three creatures of your choice that you can see within range must make Charisma saving throws. Whenever a target that fails this saving throw makes an attack roll or a saving throw before the spell ends, the target must roll a d4 and subtract the number rolled from the attack roll or saving throw.

Kyros will ready an action. He will nock an arrow and as soon as one of the half orcs attacks he will loose it at them

Rolls

Longbow attack - (1d20+6)

(9) + 6 = 15

Damage - (1d8+2)

(4) + 2 = 6

Oct 28, 2016 9:01 pm
Qiora tries to deflect the situation into something a little less combative. "Ambush? No no, my companions are simply demonstrating their remarkable athleticism, hoping to impress you. The minotaur and myself have no need for such theatrics, of course, but what can I say? Those guys must think you're very special if they're trying to perform for your entertainment. Why don't we all put away our weapons and return to a civilized and... pleasurable conversation?"

Rolls

Persuasion? - (1d20+8)

(6) + 8 = 14

OOC:
Initative:
Party - 14
Half-orcs - 3
The half-orcs, with their weapons still drawn, take a few steps back in preparation for a fight. The average looking one hears Rhograx's song, and simmers with rage.

"Don't listen to her, she's still trying to trick us!"

The handsome one listens to Qiora for a moment, but still keeps his guard up.

"You definitely aren't looking for truffles with that kind of gear. I don't like liars, but I'll try not to cut your face.

In the back, Kyros notices that Nalu is frozen in fear, but is looking straight at the sand instead of the half-orcs.
OOC:
Didn't think your persuasion was enough to calm them down, so I had one roll insight on you guys. You can still take an action, Qiora.

Rolls

Average (CHR Save) - (1d20-1)

(7) - 1 = 6

Scars (CHR Save) - (1d20)

(19) = 19

"That's unfortunate, because we really were looking for fungi," sighs Qiora. "Well, if you three are that set in your ways, I suggest that you give me your weapon so that we can determine whether or not it is worth spilling my blood."
OOC:
Casting Suggestion on Handsome, who must make a WIS save vs DC 14 or follow my directive.
Oct 29, 2016 9:45 am
OOC:
Rolling for Qiora's target. Once Valrakas takes his actions, the half-orcs will take theirs.
The handsome half-orc grins and interprets Qiora's spell as flirtatious banter.

"Now is not the time to ask for my sword, maybe when your group is feeling a bit less stabby."

Rolls

Handsome Wis Save - (1d20+2)

(17) + 2 = 19

Valrakas lowers his horns and charges the smooth-talking one.

Valrakas slams into the handsome one and sends him flying into the rocky walls (extra damage!). Also, he was so caught off guard that is longsword was knocked out of his grip.
OOC:
Half-orc's turn. Due to reckless attack, attacks against Valrakas also have advantage until his next turn, right?
The scarred half-orc picks up Handsome's sword and throws it to him, and then escapes the fray to climb the rock wall to his rear. (Valrakas can use his reaction to take an attack, with all his rage/reckless bonuses) He manages to get halfway up, put grabs onto a loose rock and nearly falls down. He'll but stuck there until his next turn.

The average one screams at Valrakas, and slashes his his poleaxe. Kyros looses his arrow immediately, and nails the half-orc in the thigh. The blade connects, and gashes Valrakas across his side.

"You bastards!"

Lastly, the handsome one catches his blade in midair and rushes past the Valrakas to get to Qiora. (Valrakas can also take a reaction here, if he didn't attack the scarred one.) He attacks Qiora with a quick downward slash, but doesn't aim for any vital points.

...

At the end of the first round, Nalu and Peat come frantically charging into the fray.

"T-this place is a nest! There are Ankhegs under the sand!

On cue, three large ankhegs rise up from the ground while shaking off the loose sand.
OOC:
Forgot to factor in 'bane' on average's attack, so I just stuck a -4 on the damage. Also added a 1d6 the damage Kyros dealt because it was sneaky damage!

Rolls

Handsome wall damage - (1d6)

(2) = 2

Scar's climbing attempt - (1d20+5)

(5) + 5 = 10

Average's attack - (1d20+5)

(15) + 5 = 20

Poleaxe damage (with bane) - (1d12-1)

(12) - 1 = 11

(4) = 4

Handsome catch (athletics) - (1d20+4)

(12) + 4 = 16

Handsom attack - (1d20+5)

(16) + 5 = 21

Handsome attack damage - (1d6+3)

(3) + 3 = 6

Ankheg initiative - (1d20)

(7) = 7

OOC:
Initative:
Party - 14
Ankhegs - 7
Half-orcs - 3

We are at the top of the round, so you guys can move again. I consider speech a free action, as well as most skills that don't involve moving around. Since the big bugs are still 'waking up' they won't take any opportunity attacks.

OOC:
Taking my reaction against Mr. Handsome.
Valrakas swings his horns at the handsome one again as he rushes past. "Oh no, ye don't, pretty!"

1d10+5 : (5) + 5 = 10

He then rams the poleaxe-wielding half-orc, shoving him aside, towards the nearest ankheg. "Time t' go, lass!" he screams at Qiora.

"You know, up close you're not that pretty," whispers Qiora, arcane power lacing her words in a dissonant melody directed at the handsome half-orc. She then holds onto her hat as she attempts to retreat southeast between the rocks and away from the southern-most ankheg.
OOC:
Dissonant Whispers on Mr Handsome. WIS save vs DC 14 to use his reaction to immediately move away from me as far as he can go. Successful save inflicts half-damage. I'm hoping he fails so my movement away won't provoke an opportunity attack.

Rolls

Dissonant Whispers psychic damage - (3d6)

(361) = 10

Oct 30, 2016 9:18 am
Handsome uses his reaction to parry Valrakas's horns (gives him +2 AC, making the attack a draw), and barely manages to avoid the pointy bits.

"Jeeze, now's really not the time to be fighting! These bugs are trying to protect their eggs!"

Nalu spins around with his shortbow to take a shot and the rear ankheg, but his bowstring snaps and slaps him in the face.
OOC:
Will do the half-orc's rolls on their turn so it's not too confusing. Since Handsome used his reaction, you don't gotta worry about the opportunity attack.

Rolls

Nalu attack - (1d20+6)

(1) + 6 = 7
