Rhograx casts minor illusion on eggs by the orcs, and the illusion is a small 5' orc eating the eggs. For my movement I try to go to the left and get up the wall on this turn or the next.
Oct 31, 2016 9:31 am
Kyro's arrow bounces off Handsome's armor, and flies right past Nalu's head.

"Give me a break!"
OOC:
Ankheg's move first, then the half-orcs. I'll refer to them as 'Top', 'Bottom', and 'Left' until I make a new map.
The three ankhegs finish pulling themselves out of the ground, and angrily snap their mandibles. The top and left bugs investigate Rhograx's illusion. They completely fall for the spell, and look like they are both about to launch themselves at the 5ft orc stealing their eggs.

Meanwhile, the bottom ankheg stares hungrily at the pint-sized Nalu. Peat's dung beetle senses were tingling (readied action to gtfo with Nalu if needed), and he immediately flees by squeezing inside a crack of one the boulders. The bottom ankheg chases after Peat and Nalu, but only manages to claw at the boulder.

From his precarious vantage point, the scarred half-orc can see the tide of battle. He jumps down ungracefully, but the sand cushions his fall. His voice sounds rough, probably caused by whatever gave him that scar on his neck.

"Kill the bugs first, we'll have to finish this squabble another day!"
OOC:
Had to look up what happens in a tie. If your attack/save is equal to the AC/DC, then the roll succeeds.
Qiora's spell make's the handsom half-orc's head feel worst than morning after the night of heavy drinking, but he holds it together.

"Urrk, okay you run... along. Kill the bugs? Okay, at least they make my brain melt."

Handsome twirls a blade out of his belt, readies his sword, and sprints towards the left ankheg. He makes two quick slashes with his weapons.
OOC:
Rolls got jacked up, but he did 9 damage.
The pole-axe wielding half-orc gets shoved back into the top ankheg and has to use his move action to steady himself. His eyes burn with anger at Valrakas, but he turns his weapon towards the large bug.

"Tsk. Woulda been more fun fighting the bull."

His attack merely bounces off hard carapace.

"Damn bug, I'm gonna kill you twice as hard now!"

Lastly, the one with the scars takes two shots at the left ankheg. Both shots are from the crossbows attached to his hip by slings. One arrow hits, puncturing a hole in the ankheg.
OOC:
Top of the round, the party gets to move again!

Qiora continues her withdrawal away from the ankheg. When she nears the rock wall, she turns and readies her sling. "Oy! Half-man!" she calls out to Mr Handsome. "Let's get rid of these things together and then go our separate ways, eh?"

She looks at the nearest ankheg clawing at Nalu and Peat, and intones a Vicious Mockery, "Bug face, a maggot's got more value than you!"

Seeing Valrakas surrounded on all sides, Qiora decides to inspire the minotaur with a melody (1d6).

You got this feeling inside your bones. It goes electric, wavy when you turn it on.
All through this mountain, all through this stage, you're flying up, no ceiling, when you're on the rage.

You got that bloodshed in your pocket, knock those good souls to your feet.
Feel that hot blood in their bodies when it drops, ooo!
I can't take my eyes up off it, you move so phenomenally. Go on lock the way you rock it, so don't stop!

And under the sun where everything goes... Nowhere to hide, you're getting so close...
When you move, well you already know... So just imagine...

Nothing you can see but them when you rage, rage, rage
Feeling blood creeping up on you so just rage, rage, rage...

Rhograx casts shatter 11 feet in front of Valrakas to try and get as many of the Ankheg and half=orcs that he can. DC of 12

Shatter
A sudden loud ringing noise, painfully intense, erupts from a point of your choice within range. Each creature in a 10 foot radius Sphere centered on that point must make a Constitution saving throw. A creature takes 3d8 thunder damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. A creature made of inorganic material such as stone, crystal, or metal has disadvantage on this saving throw.

A nonmagical object that isn’t being worn or carried also takes the damage if it’s in the spell’s area.

Just waitin on Valrakas. I'll make him do some cool minotaur stuff tomorrow if Jabe is too busy. :P
Nov 5, 2016 4:59 am
Seeing Lefty and Topsy rushing to protect their eggs, Valrakas whips his gaze around and sees little Nalu and Peat facing off against the Bottom ankheg. The minotaur charges, trying to ram the beast away from Nalu. "Run for it, lad!" Valrakas yells.

Nov 5, 2016 8:06 am
The bottom ankheg takes a beating as Kyros's arrow, Qiora's spell, and Valrakas's horns all hit. Valrakas's horns don't manage to puncture the ankheg, but Kyros's arrow lodges itself firmly into the monster's back.

The bottom ankheg triumphantly resists Qiora's mockery, and give a hiss a disapproval at Qiora. "How dare you insult such a majestic creature?" it seems to say. It's victory is short lived, however, as Valrakas's shove sends it flying towards the wall. It takes some force damage for failing so hard.

Rhograx's aims his shatter spell at the top ankheg, next to the other two half-orcs (It's that orange circle on the map). The scarred half-orc shields his ears in time, but the other two take the full brunt of the spell.

The top ankheg doesn't really know what happened, so it just keeps attacking the half-orc who is in front of it. Along with the bite, it grapples the half-orc with it's jaws and sprays acid everywhere.

The bottom ankheg recovers from the shove, and starts frothing at the mouth. Or is it a proboscis? Either way, it sprays a 30 foot line of acid at both Nalu and Valrakas! DC 13 Dex Save to take half damage.

The acid completely dissolves the rock in which Nalu was hiding, smothering both Nalu and Peat compeltely. Peat manages to shield Nalu from a lot of the damage, but they both fall unconscious anyway.
OOC:
Today I learned that sprites only have 1d4 health.
The ankheg on the left makes a dive for Rhograx's illusion and gets a mouthful/proboscis-full of sand. It takes an attack of opportunity from the handsome half-orc.

The half-orc with scars seems annoyed at the handsome one.

"Focus on one at a time, Ro get over here!"

Handsome gingerly sidesteps the ankheg who is attacking the sand, and starts to attack the top ankheg. As he slices up the bug, the half-orc currently being chewed on tries to break free. He fails spectacularly, and ends up dropping his weapon in the fray.

"Damnit, get me out of here!"

Lastly, the scarred half-orc pulls out his longbow (looks like he still has a heavy crossbow and some javelins left) and takes two quick shots.

...

The top ankheg is stumbling due to its wounds, and the other two look moderately hurt. The half-orc being grappled looks just as hurt as Valrakas, but the other two are still going strong.
OOC:
Top of the round, you guys are back up! I'll just quietly do Nalu's death save over here in the corner. Also, Valrakas you have advantage on DEX saving throws due to 'Danger Sense', not that you needed it this time.

Qiora retreats from the bottom ankheg, her escape route cut off by its crashing into the rock wall. She releases a sling bullet at the creature's head as she sings to Valrakas,

Oh don't you dare look back, just listen to me sing
because you're holding back, so shut up and smash that thing!

Nalu is revived by Rhograx's spell! Nalu quickly bolts upright, and drags Peat off to a safe are to administer first-aid (insect first-aid).

The bottom ankheg dodges the arrow and sling bullet, and hisses angrily in response. Qiora's shot bounces off the wliff walls, causing a few small rocks to fall harmlessly to the ground.

The bottom ankheg gets slammed into the wall by Valrakas even though it's much larger, but immediately attempts to bite him. It succeeds, and Valrakas finds himself grappled by the monster's mandibles (DC 13 to escape). In addition to being grappled, the ankheg's bite deals 14 slashing and acid damage.

The left ankheg finishes attack the sand, and looks satisfied with the damage it's done so far. It starts to look around for more targets.

The top ankheg takes another chomp out of the half-orc and barely through his armor and flailing arms.

Rolls

1d6 : (1) = 1

top's damage - (2d6+3, 1d6)

2d6+3 : (23) + 3 = 8

1d6 : (4) = 4

Nov 8, 2016 11:07 am
The half-orc who is being grappled is clearly hurt, and he makes one last attempt to break free. He manages to wedge a hand inside the beasts mouth to pry the jaws open, but he keeps stretching the mandibles wider and wider until it's head splits. The ankheg's body spasms for a minute, but it eventually comes to rest. The heavily damaged half-orc is barely standing, but he has a victorious grin on his face.

"Haaah... I killed you... killed you dead."

The half-orc with scars turns his attention to the bottom ankheg, and moves into position to take a shot with his heavy crossbow. The bolt whizzes right past both Valrakas's and the ankheg's heads, surprising both of them. The scarred half-orc makes a "tsk", and decides to throw a javelin since he can't reload the crossbow in time. Much like the bolt, the spear also whizzes past the minotaur and the bug's heads (but on the other side this time) and embeds itself in the rock.

The handsome half-orc makes a dash in order to distract the left ankheg. He distracts it by stabbing it with his sword, but only gets one good attack off.
OOC:
Typos on dice rolls will forever haunt me because they can't be fixed. In other news, the bottom ankheg is apparently impervious to ranged attacks. Top of the round, you wonderful people are back up! ᕦ(ò_óˇ)ᕤ
