Alan picks a fruit of a tree he was hiding on and tosses it at Milaki, giving her a dissaproving glare as if saying. Are you out of your mind?!

Claudius stops, whispers silently so you could barely hear him "I lived good life", close ayes and breathing slowly and deeply switches through the other 3 creature surface thoughts. But he is certainly too afraid to do anything else
OOC:
Since switching creature takes action I believe it will take 6x3 seconds to read them.
Apr 15, 2022 2:46 pm
Claudius, you pick up the following thoughts:

Creature A: Don't fall, don't fall. Step. Step. Heavy, not doing this again.
Creature B: Nest was close, but couldn't reach. Why are we out now?
Creature C: Gu'ruck need lesson. Could just walk into tree. That would teach him.

Alan, you find a solid branch where you can post up for an ambush, with easy access back to the ground without too much hassle. It takes you the full thirty seconds to get yourself up and situated in a way that you can be prepared.

Milaki, you start to skirt around the edges of where they are, putting you about 60 feet from the rest of the group, with the two axe-wielding creatures in the middle.

I've put you all on the map for rough starting points based on the narration so far and Claudius's Detect Thoughts spell (it's the blue circle on the map) range. We will go into initiative mode now, though we aren't in combat yet.

Initiative! - People in Bold below may act now in any order
Esal - Attempting to hide.
Claudius - concentrating on Detect Thoughts
Alan - 10 feet up in a tree, must climb down or drop. DC15 Acrobatics check to drop without damage. 1d6 on failure.
Milaki - Sneaking behind the creatures.

Alan seeing that combat is inevitable readies action to attack if the enemy approaches his hiding spot...
OOC:
(specifically if they are in reach of his attack, respectfully 10 ft radius from the tree.)
He grips the handle of his blade and waits for them to approach him.
[ +- ] Fighting Style
[ +- ] Spider Climb
OOC:
Alan has climbing speed, does it help me with getting down without expending an action or check?

Summary:
To hit (advantage dude to enemies being suprised)- nat 20
Damage after crit and fighting Style - 19 slashing nonmagical.
If Alan cannot get down in the same turn and attack, he drops down and takes 4 damage.

Sorry for not being clear! I already rolled the initiatives and you're all up first. :) So you can post your actions, and the first "attack" action will start us into combat.

Claudius sets up the hunting trap and steps back 10 feet.
OOC:

OOC:
hahhahaha Bubbles :P btw I am not thaaat far away lets say I am... Q 15ish and I want to back stab sneak attack C1
Milaki before she goes there looks Alan with a wtf face and whispers ''what's wrong with my idea?'' and holds her action...until someone else attacks, so no sneak attack yet.
OOC:
Btw I do not want anyone to get angry with me, so if Alan stops Milaki to do that, then she waits hiding and I hold my action

OOC:
Generally speaking, Surprise doesn't grant you advantage on the attack, unless you have a specific feat/feature that grants it. Surprise means that on their first turn in combat, they are not permitted to take actions and cannot take any reactions until after their first turn. However, your 20 was on the first roll, so still going to count for the crit. And yes, your climbing speed means you can go up/down the tree without incurring checks or penalties.
Claudius sets his trap and moves back, using the underbrush to try hiding his presence a bit. The creatures stumble through the trees, appearing to be relatively uncoordinated. Creature 2 especially seems to be moving in a strange manner, with no real connection to where they are looking. As they stumble, Esal withdraws slightly, just to stay out of reach and sight. Because of their stumbling, the creature doesn't seem to pay attention to the trap and steps right into it! A loud clang sounds out as the metal teeth clamp down and a crunch like a stick being broken eminates from the creature's leg. You watch as the creature wobbles in place, bending oddly, but ultimately staying upright.

Creature 1 continues their path forward, getting close to the tree that Alan is hiding in. As he gets close, the swordsman charges down out of the tree, bringing his sword down in a decisive strike. The blow cuts the creature in half! As the top half flops over, clearly dead, you can see that it was a goblin wearing a skin mask.

The ragged clothes fall off the lower half, revealing a second goblin on heavy stilts with a small wooden platform on his shoulders. Milaki, surprised by the sudden change in target, can't seem to find a good place to stab the creature and misses her jab as Esal looses an arrow at the stilted creature. It slams home into the goblin's chest, silencing the shriek before it can start.

As Creature 2 is surprised, it cannot act, which brings you all up again. If you want to specify upper body or lower body for targeting on the second creature, you may.

Claudius is astonished by realizing why he felt 4 creatures but saw only two
While he is trying to decide what is best course of action

Claudius tosses his stone through the air, catching the bugger square in the chest. As it rocks back, arms pinwheeling, Milaki steps in, letting the creature fall back onto her extended blade, killing the poor goblin. Meanwhile, Alan darts in and grabs the bottom goblin, pulling it into a tight hold. As difficult as it is to hold on to the creature, given the size and stilts, it's even harder for the goblin to try twisting out of Alan's grip.

Esal, not wanting a repeat of the events in the shrine nocks an arrow but doesn't shoot at the remaining creature that it looks like Alan is attempting to restrain.

The goblin doesn't seem keen on being grabbed, and it tries to stab Alan with a dagger it slips from its boot! But between being held tightly, the shock of his compatriot falling off his shoulders, and the whole surprise of the last few seconds it can't manage to do anything with the stubby blade.

Claudius look into creature ayes and say Surrender, you are outnumbered!
OOC:
Action: dodge, no movement or BA

Alan will attempt to pin down the grappled goblin.
OOC:
I messed up, to hit was supposed to be +5 not +1, so it should be 16.

Rolls

to hit, pin down - (1d20+1)

(11) + 1 = 12

Apr 20, 2022 12:43 pm
Alan uses a combination of feet and arms to trip the goblin, and slam them to the ground, pinning them as the others stand-by. As Claudius issues his command, the goblin starts to crinkle up his face in a defiant snivel, but looks for a moment at the part surrounding him and considers the speed that they dispatched his other three compatriots.

Nyyyyyyeah, I give up. Don't kill Zrus. he whines in common, still wriggling against Alan's grip.
OOC:
Out of initiative, feel free to post however. Also, all characters have reached Level 2. Details on leveling will be in the Character Generation/Leveling thread.
Apr 20, 2022 6:58 pm
Claudius consider situation and ask: Alan, would you release Zrus from the hunting trap, it could be tricky, we don't him to die!
[ +- ] Hunting trap mechanics
Claudius sends however thelephatic message to Alan: Don't do that yet, make him share anything he knows about orcs first!
OOC:
At his age and education Claudius should have red an analog of good cop-bad cop negotiation tactics, I believe
Apr 20, 2022 7:09 pm
OOC:
Sorry for it not being perfectly clear, Zrus isn't actually stuck in the trap himself, his stilt is what's in the grips of it so he isn't taking any damage from it.

OOC:
I see. please disregard/delete my previous post.
Apr 20, 2022 9:45 pm
OOC:
Still maybe a good post. The goblins aren't exactly smart, so he may just be shocked enough to believe you.

Milaki says: '' Are you an orc? I thought orcs would be taller''
