The smells, sounds, and sights of the tavern's interior aren't unfamiliar to any of you. Unlike most of the examples in "civilized towns", The Drunken Mountain's main hall is pretty un-decorated. A packed dirt floor, no doubt the original from when the building was a barn, is scattered with tables. Immediately to the left as you enter is a long bar that runs about half the length of the room. Opposite the bar is the stone hearth that must be connected to the chimney you noticed earlier, a small fire sending smoke into the air. Next to the hearth, a small stage has been set up, with baled hay for seating. A gnome sits on one of the bales, strumming a lute and singing to the middling crowd. Opposite the entry is a short hall that seems to lead off to other parts of the tavern and a stairway leading upstairs.
Maybe a dozen and a half people, at most, are seated throughout the room. Most look to be residents, simple folk with simple attire. The rest are likely adventurers like yourselves, judging from how they are attired and how they've positioned themselves in the room. The likely adventurers you spot appear to be a pair of dwarves with shock white hair; an elf smoking a slender pipe with a pair of rough and tumble looking humans; and finally a foursome consisting of a half-elf, two humans, and a tiefling that are sitting around a table playing cards.
Alan, you notice that (somewhat unusually for taverns in your experience) this one doesn't seem to have any kind of a notice board or the like.
Radiza, you're able to easily find a good table (by whatever Radiza's definition may be). There are tables aplenty against the wall or in the middle of the room, your choice really. As you wave at a young human boy (maybe 15 years old), he comes running over, almost blind to your appearance at first.
Welcome to The Drunken Mountain! M'name's Bruce, what can I get for - WHOA! he says, rambling through his spiel quickly before he actively takes in the feline appearance.
I mean - Uhm - You are a - do you want some cream? he finishes stammering out, clearly not sure how to handle the situation.
Atticus, as your compatriots enter the tavern and kind of scatter to their own purposes, you head up to the bar and sit yourself down on a stool. After a few minutes, a ruddy-haired dwarf saunters over, his cream linen shift dirty with the grime of a long shift.
Welcome, welcome! What can I get for ye good sir? We've good ale and wine if you're feeling fancier. Or perhaps a small cask of cider? he asks, light and chipper in tone.
[ +- ] The Pair of Dwarves
For anyone taking the time to study the pair of dwarves, you notice a few key details. They both have pure white hair. The older looking dwarf has his hair shorn close to his head and is wearing just simple clothes. However, his hands are bound up in linen wrapping and you can see faint bloodstains on them. The other has their hair left free and wild, with violet eyes. They are wearing a thick cloak and you can see them occasionally sneaking bits of food to a small ferret that pokes its face out of the cloak.
[ +- ] Elf and Duo
For anyone taking the time to study the elf and her human companions, you notice a few key details. The elf is smoking a long bone pipe. Her hair is cut short and there is a faint small scar running from the corner of her eye down to her lip. The two men with her are wearing light-weight leather armor. One of the men is dressed in a purple silk blouse and black twill pants with a rapier on his hip, the other has a black and red sphere where his left eye should be. The man with one eye looks to have a short sword on one hip and a quiver of arrows by the other.
[ +- ] The Foursome
For anyone taking the time to study the foursome of cardplayers, you notice a few key details. The half-elf is wearing leather armor and she can be seen visibly wincing whenever the singer's notes go off-pitch. The woman to her left is wearing sturdy travelling clothes worked in a lovely leaf and branch motif. A heavy silver and green amulet hangs around her neck. To her left (sitting opposite the half-elf) is a human man wearing chain mail. A heavy backpack is sitting next to him and a heavy sword is slung around his waist. Finally, to his left is a tiefling woman with a rich orangey-red cast to her skin. Also wearing chain mail, she has a silvered necklace of what looks to be an armored gauntlet with a design of an eye painted onto it.
