The sun rose into the hazy spring sky east of Conyberry, twinkling on the dew that had settled on every available surface overnight. Whether by happenstance, Amaunator's cheeky interference, or through careful planning of your own design you all find yourselves arriving in the village on this breezy morning. While not a strict invitation, per se, your conversations with traders (or overheard while undertaking your own somewhat nefarious dealings) led you to believe that the Mercantile Council of Conyberry was hosting a small gathering before midday, to see what aid could be rendered by eager adventurers.
The village itself is obviously in a state of repair and regrowth. You can easily see the stone foundations of old buildings, some charred from fire, scattered through the town. The main road, running west to east through the center of Conyberry, is made primarily of worn cobbles, but with plenty of dirt and gravel patches splotching the surface. Side "streets" meander off the main drag, really more dirt-trodden paths from years of horses, carts, and feet tramping down the otherwise wispy grasses common to the area. A somewhat rickety looking wooden wall has been erected around the town, though no gatehouse or gate seem to be present on either side. All the newly constructed buildings stand out like a sore thumb, with fresh thatch on the top and naked timbers serving as the primary supports. Likewise, you can see the buildings that have been reclaimed or repurposed, clearly patched with new materials.
Your travels into town, regardless of direction, were uneventful. For those arriving from Triboar to the east, you were cautioned about recent attacks on caravans. For those arriving from the High Road to the west, you had heard that there were still several orcish bands in the foothills to the south. Finally, for those coming south out of the Neverwinter Wood, all the classic tales of n'e'r-do-well forest spirits were fresh in your mind.
As the day marches on, heavy steel-grey clouds begin rolling in, sending the temperatures lower as lunchtime draws near.
In terms of background information, you all know the information present in the Conyberry post under the Knowledge Compendium. Whether through conversation with traders, general "ear to the ground" behavior, or what have you, anything in there you are free to use as character knowledge.
Through general stomach reckoning, you all figure you have about 2 hours until you're expected to meet with the Council and can take this time to explore the town as you'd like.
