Tabat takes a step back, trying to shrug the creatures from his body. He reaches and grabs for another flask of alchemists fire. Once in hand, throws it at a part of the swarm that isn't immediately upon his person. "Arrgh! Get these things off me!" he yells in frustration.

"If only Bernard were here, he could probably put the damned things to sleep! But, he isn't."

The second alchemist's fire burns another third of them down. (They're at 5/22 hp)

Jaware will cast Acid Splash on the swarm and worries if it will work later.

He casts the spell, steps back and says:

"You know, they're just insects. Guess we can walk away and wait for them to disperse, right?", Jaware asks looking at Abenor.

Jaware has no knowledge of insects or animals, but he saw that Abenor demonstrated some knowledge of the natural world with the snake.

Rolls

Acid splash touch attack - (1d20+5)

(15) + 5 = 20

Acid splash attack - (1d3)

(2) = 2

"Good call. Let me refresh my memory dear friend." Abenor's mind was a circus now, yet he still tries to recall information on these beetles, maybe from some pamphlets he has read during his trip here.
OOC:
Nature Knowledge would be the correct roll I guess. If not DM can roll it for me.

Rolls

Knowledge (Nature) - (1d20+1)

(11) + 1 = 12

The acid splash does a bit more damage, killing off much more of the swarm. (2/22 hp remaining).

Abenor knows that the insects are likely territorial, so if you get far enough away, they may leave you alone.

Khadi just puts more distance between herself and the swarm, taking care not to bunch up
Mar 15, 2022 6:16 am
"Hey guys! If you don't have much of those incredibly useful bottles, I suggest we leave them alone. They won't follow us."

Tabat shakes the creatures off his body the best he can and backpedals to exit the room. "Damned. Things!" he growls in frustration.
Mar 15, 2022 7:47 am
Abenor joins Tabat in exiting the room. This trip already became a hall of disgusted things and they've only been here for an hour at most. "So, what's next?" he asks.
Mar 15, 2022 4:19 pm
Despite Abenor's pronouncement, the bugs follow you away from the grainery, just so you know.

They swarm Tabat once more, assuming the rest of you have spread away from him. (Another Fort save if you will), then everyone is up.

Rolls

Damage - (1d6)

(2) = 2

Tabat runs backwards trying to remove himself from the swarm. "Someone!" he says, brushing his armor off and shaking his leg to the side as he moves, trying to remove the ever-increasing itch of creatures making their way between the layers of his protective gear.

Rolls

Fort Save - (1d20+8)

(15) + 8 = 23

"Uhmm-" Abenor says with apparent confusion. "I swear they don't do that normally. How about you throw one last acid bottle to these damned creatures?"
Mar 15, 2022 5:48 pm
Jaware casts Acid Splash again.

"Damn, bad idea. Get out of here bugs from hell. Go back to where you came from."

Rolls

Acid splash touch attack - (1d20+5)

(5) + 5 = 10

Acid splash dmg - (1d3)

(1) = 1

OOC:
Sorry for the delay.
Jaware finishes off the swarm as the party runs for it.

Combat is over.

Looking inside the granary, you find three skeletons of the scarabs victims, but you're certain that they're fresh. Someone must have tossed them in on the past few weeks.
Mar 20, 2022 2:48 pm
'I'm going to be having words with Khepri about scarabs in my next prayers.' Khadi mumbles as she moves back to join the rest of the group. As they invesigate the granary there is a frown on her face.

'These people.. any bones here shouldn't be fresh... unless they are graverobbers, who decided to not stick to the edges like most.' She kneels next to them and starts to speak prayers and death rites.
Mar 20, 2022 5:40 pm
Tabat echoes Khadi's sentiments, "I cant imagine anyone else these bones belonged to, must have been robbers." As the cleric performs last rites, Tabat carefully, and respectfully, searches amongst the bodies for anything the people, when living, may have had of value while also checking for any signs of how they died.

The granary holds, near the three fleshless human skeletons, an adamantine heavy flail. The weapon is filthy but perfectly usable.
