I was afraid you were going to say that...

The door at the end of the hallway was closed, and Mordred doesn't see any rat-sized holes. Of course, it could have scurried up here to hide when it heard the party making a ruckus downstairs...

OOC:
Sorry all, been unexpectedly busy of late.
Leth moves to the stairs and puts his ear to the door, listening for any signs of activity on the other side.

On the other side, Leth hears only silence.

If the others are done examining the room they are currently in, Leth will open the door into the next room.

The door does not open.

Given the general feel when you try to push it, and the lack of any keyholes or operable mechanisms, you're guessing that it's barred on the other side.

Leth frowns and examines the door a little closer. Is there room to slip something between the doors and jimmy the bar off?

fuck, the thing we were chasing is a shapeshifter, maybe?
OOC:
I did wonder...

Mordred thinks back to the rat that ran past them and tries to compare it to the rats he knew so well in the sewers of Sthombo. "Zangua... This may seem like a stupid question, but was there anything suspicious about that rat you chased after? Maybe you should show us where it went..."

"Suspicious? Not really," answers Zangua. "Looked kinda beefy, and it took a blow like it was nothing. Would have made a nice meal.

"It headed off to the east, from back where we fought the skeletons."

This is definitely within the realm of the possible, but there's not much of a gap, so you'd either need something very thin or you'd need to make the gap wider.

"Before we do damage to this place, Leth, and risk the wrath of Zapan, I'd like to try another route. Maybe follow the rat?"

Hey all, sorry for the inactivity. Was in Montana last week in spots with no/unreliable connectivity. I'm back.
Sep 15, 2016 3:58 pm
Decision time, party: find a way to get through this door, or follow the rat/explore elsewhere?
Sep 15, 2016 9:47 pm
Leth shrugs at Mordred's suggestion. "If that's what you wanna do, I'm okay with it."

"Follow the rat? Not advice I'd ever thought I'd agree with, but, it seems a decent suggestion at this point."

OK, let's head quickly back down to the skeleton room and go east. Mordred looks for any rat droppings or other clues.

Zangua jogs along, mildly hopeful that rat is back on the menu.

East of the skeleton room, you follow a hall about 30' long. At the end of the hall is a wooden door. On the top half of the door is a faded painting of Zapan, seated and facing to the right, toward four robed men holding up what look to be gifts or offerings. The lower half of the door is painted with strange, interlocking geometric patterns, with the enclosed spaces within the patterns filled with dense text in a florid Old Mezian script.

There's no sign of the rat.

Anything in the script or patterns meaningful to me? Or Zora?
