Leth squints at the ground, his attention drawn to a quick reflection of light from Felor's spear. He moves closer to inspect it.

"Hey guys, there's a key over here." He says as he sees the object on the ground. He reaches out to pick it up and look at a little more carefully.

"Should we hold on to it?"

While you all search the cavern, Zora pokes her head into the triangular doorway. "It smells bad in there," she reports.
Jul 15, 2016 5:13 pm
"No other passage southward, though," says Zangua. He prepares to crawl through the opening.
Jul 15, 2016 6:57 pm
"It couldn't hurt, Leth. Does it smell like anything in particular, Zora? Rotting meat?"
Jul 18, 2016 3:46 pm
First through, Zangua notes that the foul odor is like a sickly sweet perfume laid over an old and profound mustiness.

Smells like a dungeon.

He emerges into a long, irregular chamber, part cavern and part masonry, about 15' wide by 40' long. There's a pile of smashed urns in the middle of this chamber. At the far south end is a stone archway.
Jul 18, 2016 4:19 pm
Mordred Kaliban, Private Eye steps up to investigate the urns.

ETA: Ha, I typoed my Perception roll into a d30 and I still got a 2!

Zangua readies himself with a defensive position, keeping watch as the others enter the chamber.

Of course, until Felor enters with the Light spell, it's rather hard to see.

good rolls guys

The urn shards vary in size and design. They look like they've been here awhile. You estimate around twenty urns make up the pile.

"Where did all of these come from?" Vad wonders out loud and begins to look about the room.
OOC:
All those smashed urns and no rupees?

Leth enters, bow drawn, and peers into the dark room for any sign of danger while the others examine the pottery.

All is quiet in here. There are no signs of recent activity.

Peering into the archway, Leth sees that it splits off into three directions: east, west, and south.

Zora picks up a large urn shard and turns it around, examining it. She shrugs and tosses it back on the pile.

"Let's not take any interesting detours," Zangua grunts, recalling the words of Grimzo. He proceeds into the south passage, on the lookout for any movement.
Jul 19, 2016 5:54 pm
The south passage leads to a narrow, 40' long hallway that ends in a circular room about 20' wide. Stone stairs spiral up the wall. At the foot of the stairs, directly opposite you, lies a body in tattered black clothes. It is mostly, but not completely skeletonized, suggesting to Zangua that its time here could be measured in months, not years.

Any sense of what the body died of?

The head is resting at an unnatural angle, suggesting a broken neck may have done this person in.
Jul 19, 2016 7:35 pm
Mindful of the warnings about the restless dead, Zangua keeps the catchpole trained on the lifeless body while the others investigate.

"South til we reach the crypts..." Leth mutters to himself as his eyes shift around the room. He is growing increasingly uncomfortable about their location and the findings around them, but is confident enough in the strength of the group that he isn't worried - at least not yet, anway.

"South, then?" Leth asks a little louder, for the group to hear. "Or do you reckon this is part of the crypt?"

Shamush dusts himself off a bit and takes a chomp out of a roughly spherical hunk of a purple fungus, as if it were an apple. He coughs a little, releasing a smoky plume of spores into the air. Upon spying the desiccated corpse he sidles over to it and gives it a thoughtful prodding with his foot. He laughs and says to Leth, "If it is a crypt, they half-assed this poor sap's burial. Must have been that uncle no one liked."

Seeing the condition of the dead man's neck, he lifts his torch and gazes up at the stairs, squinting against the dark. He chews the rubbery meat and says around a mouthful, "Or maybe he was just some dumb asshole what fell down some stairs."

Congrats on the arrival of your 0-level henchmen in real life, EndsOfInvention!

"Those are funerary urns," Zora says, gesturing toward the pile. "I'd say this is it." She cranes her neck to try and look up the stairs.
