"Maybe I'm overreacting but this feels wrong. Stay close to me, Father," Talyn whispered then quietly intoned, "Xxilfet d'Agathys."

After a frosty armour formed around him, the dusk elf again called upon his patron's power to form a protective golden glow around him which hedged out the forces of good and evil, "Sslig'ne bwael verin."

Burning through so much power wasn't advisable but neither was dying.

"If everything's as you left it, let's go. Don't take anything no matter how familiar you are with it. Ceranthae knows what may have been tampered with in here before the children barricaded themselves out there."

If Father Braeburn agreed, Talyn would lead the way back to the Skeletal Arms.

Leif has followed Talyn into the church. Again he gives his magnifying glass its special polish making it able to see magical auras. Now he knows exactly what kind of dark aura they are looking for.

With Talyn being tailed by his two shorter companions, they both work their own magic to investigate the area.

G'nark's eyes shine with a mystical shimmer as he looks about the church and its grounds. His sight, however, does not bring any indication that undead of any sort have been raised and are mobile.

Leif begins his investigation once more in the church, moving about and into Father Braeburn's private quarters. On the outside, everything is fine. Moving into the room on the other hand, prompts interesting auras. Firstly, he sees a small chest beside his desk that seems to have small blips of black, possibly indicating necromantic energies. Secondly, he notices another one, though it is far, far darker, and even has tinges of enchantment to it as well. This one comes from the bed, underneath the priest's pillow.

Talyn was glad he hadn't completely over-reacted.

"What have you found?" he asked. "Let me move anything with my mage hand."

The small chest on the table and under the pillow Leif points to each location as he finds them. Once Talyn has revealed the dark items Leif will give them a thorough examination with his magnifying lense.

The chest's contents are not harmful looking, as inside are three potions of healing. Father Braeburn explains that those an emergency stock in the event anyone in the village requires them. Under the pillow, on the other hand...
When the pillow is held loft via a translucent blue hand, all can see a bound package resting there. The wrapping is pale and leather-like, however, one can tell immediately that it looks to be human skin. A tingle runs down everyone's spine just by looking at it. A note lies on top of it - it reads: "A gift of enlightenment - Father Bishop"

Father, as you see this fiend has been dropping dark gifts all around town. We will take this blue hand package, and I strongly suggest that you destroy those healings potions and are getting them replaced. They could have been tampered with.

The knife and the hand skin covered package need to be destroyed, and no offence meant, but I think we could get an expert to handle those. Leif takes out another piece of miscoloured silk and has Talyn wrap skin covered package in it.

We need to find this giver of endarkenments. Do we have a tracker among us? Or a diviner?

I really like this plot - I might even use the corruption of healing potions plot sometime

You're having him wrap up his own mage hand? XD
Also, it should be remembered that healing magics do fall under the realm of necromancy

As a change to the above posts to give clarification: the potions give off the auras of evocation, not necromancy.
The "leather" wrapped package lies still on the bed. Talyn attempts to lift it with his mage hand so that it might be wrapped in the silk that was provided by Leif, however, the floating appendage is unable to interact with the parcel; the mage hand simply dissipates upon coming into full contact with it. One might guess that a special ward or charm has been placed upon the wrapping to prevent anyone other than the intended recipient from touching it. All in the room gaze at it, its presence making the air heavy with gloom.
"What a foul deed," Father Braeburn sighs, shaking his head. "It is curious to see that an old friend of mine leaving his mark on such a dire package. It makes me curious to see just what is inside, but I know that what lies beneath is dark."
He pauses to think for a moment, his eyes locked on the fell item.
"Tell me, does any in your band know of ways to dispel magic or to remove possession?"

Leif takes out some pincers and grabbing tools and lifts the package over to the sike wrapping. I think the most prudent thing is not to open this package. I'm just a warrior of Talos, dispelling is for wizards and exosomes for priests

"At least this priest can remove unwanted magics too." G'nark states. "So let's see what I can do." Murmuring a whispery prayer to his goddess G'nark bids Her to remove any wards upon the item.

"Well said and well done, G'nark, and who is this Father Bishop, Father Braeburn? It's a rather confusing name for a priest."

If the dispelling worked, Talyn carefully used his arcane arm to open the package.

Father Braeburn gives a light chuckle. "Yes, it rather is, isn't it? Andrew and I were both spent our younger years in training together under the same deity: Solaire. Last I spoke with him, he was just appointed the head of the temple in Midharbor a few years ago. Evidently, the previous leader left in the night; I can't recall the details unfortunately."

G'nark approaches the bound package, and with ample prayer, dispels the ward that was set upon it. It seems that whatever the ward was charged with was quite powerful. However, G'nark manages to overpower it and, immediately, the room feels as if whatever dark pressure was there had been removed completely.
Talyn, now able to utilize his minor capabilities, begins to unravel the current mystery before them. The "leather" is taken off easily enough, leaving a grim looking book laying on the bed. It is bound in onyx black leather and seems to have been around for some time, as it looks weathered. No writing is on the cover, and it seems a red ribbon was slipped in between some pages to act as a bookmark.

"Dare I turn to that page, Father Braeburn, or should I simply burn it where it lies?" Talyn asked. "I obviously vote for burning."
