Roald Finds himself akwardly riding the centipede. The blow from the creature nearly knocks him off, but he manages to keep one hand firmly gripped in the moss on its back, the other hand still holding the sword. "WHOHW WHOHW!". In an ultimate attempt to strike a deadly blow, he uses his legs to clamp himself onto the creature, takes his sword in 2 hands and drives the point down into the centipede.
OOC:
There are a lot of things that can go wrong here. He could fall off immediately, or when he lets go of the moss on the back. He may lose his balance when he holds the sword with 2 hands, another stump of the tail,... I am fine with any outcome you think is appropriate. Mar 3, 2022 2:29 am
Deoring, unable to get away from the creature, feels the crunch on his shoulder and yells, "Aaaaah! Help me!"
When Albert pulls him back, he says, "Thank you, Albert! What the blazes is that thing?"

"I have no idea what that thing is. Some kind of giant insect." Albert tells Deoring. He's not paying any attention to what's going on over there where the others are fighting. If they need his help, they'll have to wait.
"Hold still. This might sting a bit." he says before putting a hand on Deoring's shoulder. it's been a long time since I've needed to do this. A prayer billows out from his lips.
"Raynor, let not the the journey of conquest of this warrior be over. Give him your courage and devotion to the cause and repair his weakened flesh. You, who has lead countless soldiers to victory, give this one a chance to fight again and fill him with your fire."

- Falur -
While you have never faced a creature such as this, your past experiences in the wilds lead you to believe that it can not take a lot more of this sort of punishment. If it were a natural beast you are sure it would take any opportunity to flee if it were given one.
What do you do?

To those who aren't preoccupied with the battle, a pale yellow light emits from beneath Albert's hands as if he's holding a few glowworms. It lasts as long as his prayer. He gets up again after and helps Deoring back onto his feet. "There, that should help" He says to him. His voice is fainter than before and Albert is breathing heavily. He grabs his stick again and uses it to lean on. It looks like whatever he did took a toll on his stamina. "How are you feeling?"

"Wow, Albert, I’ve never seen an insect that large! I thought it was a DRAGON!"
Deoring’s eyes go wide as Albert’s hands start to glow, but bows his head in reverence during the prayer.
"Albert! You, you HEALED me! It’s a miracle! All praise to Raynor!"
Deoring, not previously very religious, says a brief silent prayer of his own to Raynor in gratitude.
Aloud, he says, "My armor has seen better days but my shoulder feels great! I can hardly believe it! Thank you again, Albert. I am in your debt."
"Look, Albert!", Deoring says while pointing back towards the centipede, "Roald is RIDING that thing!"

Albert nods to Deoring. "It's Raynor's work, I am merely a conduit." He smiles faintly as if it's costing him a lot of effort to move the muscles in his face. "My pleasure, I'm glad you feel better."
"Roald, you maniac!" Albert exclaims when he follows Deoring's finger to where it's pointing. It's hard to see in the darkness, but yes, that looks like the silhouette of Roald on top of the big bug. Unfortunately, Albert is in no shape to rush to their aid. He'll need some time to recuperate lost strength. They'll have to handle it themselves. I'm sure they'll be fine. He coughs a few times. The spores that were already irritating his airways are now getting amplified with dust from the ongoing fight.
Albert shuffles back from where they came, looking for better air and finds Rook staring intently at the battle, torch at the ready. "You ok there, Rook? You're not thinking of lighting that thing, right?"

Falur while hoping that Deorling will be alright is giving his attention to the centipede. His experience tells him it is weakening. He shouts encouragement to Roald.
"Well struck Roald another blow in the same place should penetrate his hide"
The forester the gathers his strength as if to fell a stubborn tree and swings his axe
"How do you like that" he shouts

Rook is quiet, watching in the dim twilight as the others hack at the monster. The creature's fate seems sealed now, so the tension he holds the torch with eases now. He finally glances over at Albert, and gives the unlit torch in his hand a twirl. "Light it? Well, not now. Had things gone the other way for us, or more of these beasts reared up, I might have chanced it. As things stand now, I think I'll merely keep it handy."

Albert pats Rook on the shoulder as he moves past him, looking for less dusty air. "Good to know someone has a plan B if we need one."

- Roald -
Your sword wedges deep between the monster's armoured segments, opening them up and allowing the others access past the protection to the vulnerable parts beneath.
- Deoring -
Your blow parts some icky internal membrane or covering, exposing a pulsating vital organ (or what passes for 'organs' in a centipede).
- Falur -
Your mighty swing strikes true to the internal organs, and monstrous fluids spill forth... right at you, covering your self and all your gear. It stinks and burns your eyes, and got into everything.
You know for sure that your bow will need to be cleaned before it can be used. And the noxious effects may interfere with you senses (stink and burning eyes) until you can find enough water to --superficially-- clean it off.
What do you do?
- Roald -
As the beast dies it reflexively and violently snaps into a ball. You are thrown from its back and almost bash your head open on the bare stone floor it recently vacated. The captain drops her sword as she jumps in and catches you, breaking your fall and rotating you, mid-air, so your head is not the first thing to impact.
You find yourself lying sprawled upon her as she tries to catch the breath that was knocked out of her.

Dirk steps away while the battle rages on, not because of cowardice but because he didn't want to get knocked over in the flurry of human limbs and centipede parts. He tries to find an opening in the mayhem where he can land a strike. After Roald gets thrown off and the beast snaps into a curl, Dirk uses the opportunity to rush in and give another blow to it.

The head came off surprisingly easily, it strangely reminded Dirk of cutting the head off of a carrot. Dirk watches the centipede's body twitch a bit as the horrible stench of the blood wafts through the air.
"I hope we don't encounter any more of those buggers, sheesh." Dirk cleans off the centipede blood on his machete by wiping it on the moss. I hope this doesn't stain my trusty machete too bad.

Falur sits down and tries without much success to wipe the mucus from his face.
"Does anyone have a cloth and some water to help me get this muck off?"
He is putting brave face on the situation but he is afraid the fluids might be poisonous
Oh please don't let me be poisoned Falur thinks to himself

Rook gestures back in the direction they came from. "No cloth to spare, but there is a pool of water back behind us. Who knows how fit it is to drink, but it was moderately clear, so it should be fine for the washing of viscera. Once that is accomplished, we should move on with haste, lest the smell of this beast corpse attract scavengers."
Once again, he thought of the glittering pile of coins above him in the temple while he mucked through the dark with the others down here... hopefully there was some clink to be found at the end of this fetid hallway.

"Thanks I had not seen the pool " says Falur to Rook
His first action when reaching the pool is to clean his bow and arrows so they will be ready whenever the need arises. Then he strips to the waist and uses his shirt with the pond water wipe the rest of mess off himself and his clothes. Having rinsed out the shirt he puts the damp item back on, dresses, and a bit refreshed and heads back to the team to see what plans have been made.
