He's not sure how long he blacked out for, but Grund wakes up to the sound of Marland. "Grund? Are you okay? What happened?!?" Grund opens his eyes and takes a second to focus his vision. Marland is next to him, seeing if he's alright, while Ogvald is lighting a fire in the hearth. "Yes, I think I'm fine. I just had to... rest for a few minutes." Grund replies. He sits up, as Marland offers him some water, and explains what happened in the woods a few moments ago.

"Did you see Roy's body there?" Marland asks him after hearing about what happened. "I'm afraid I did not. I don't think it was the ape that took him. But if it's not that... then who or what did?"

They spend some time warming up and trying to think of the next step while they wait for night to fall. "No point in heading out right now. It'll be dark soon. Let's hold up here and continue in the morning." Grund suggests. The others agree. Marland, feeling a bit better again, takes the time to forage some food for them as they already used up most of their rations getting to the cabin.

Marland comes back empty-handed an hour later. The only thing he managed to find was some fresh water. "I'm sorry, friends, but this will have to do for now. We might have more luck tomorrow." He tells the others.

They lie down on the hard floor to get some rest near the hearth. At least they'll be somewhat warm and dry tonight. Not expecting any trouble, they don't bother keeping watch throughout the night.

Even though they slept on the hard wooden floor, Grund feels better in the morning. His shoulder is almost back to normal, and this long night's rest replenished his stamina.
OOC:
I'm not sure how to continue here. They don't really have an idea of where to look next. So I think I need to make an event happen that'll get them on the right track.
Going to take some time to think about it. Suggestions are welcome :)
Addition on April 11:
I'm going to have Marland go hunting again in the morning. This time he's had some rest, so I think it'll be an almost certain roll. He is a hunter after all.

Marland returns to the hut with a couple of dead critters. "I managed to get these. It's not a lot, but should get us through the day at least." He says in a quite cheerful way. "Thank you, my friend. That'll do wonders for my stomach, I'm sure!" Grund replies as they start to skin and prepare the meal.

"There's something else I found while hunting." Marland says as they are working on breakfast. "I was tracking a deer. I had found hoof prints and dried blood along one of the paths, so I followed it. But what I found was very strange." Grund looks at him with a pensive expression. "Hmm? Go on." He says. "Well, I believe I found the spot where the deer had died. There was an imprint in the mud with even more blood, but the deer was no longer there. Not far from it, I found a footprint and one shoe-print."

Grund looks up in surprise. "Could it be? Do you think...?" He exclaims. "I... I don't know, Grund. Do you think it could be Roy?" Marland says. "Well... " Grund continues "We did find a single boot that belonged to him, a few days ago. But he was dead. I saw it with my own eyes! How could he be walking around?!?"

On the other side of the room, Ogvald clears his throat. "Dark magic." He quotes a line all Ironlanders are familiar with. "In the depths of the long-night, when all is wreathed in darkness, only fools venture beyond their homes." After this, the room falls silent for a while.

"A dark force must have Roy under its spell." Ogvald is looking at the fire as he speaks. "I've heard stories about this, but never really believed them. To be honest, I still won't believe it until I see it."

"Alright. So, we'll need a plan." Says Grund. "Marland, can you track those footprints? We should take care of this before it gets worse." He puts his hand on Marland's shoulder. "If it's true what Ogvald says, we might have to take Roy out. I'm telling you this so you can already mentally prepare for what may come." Marland's eyes get watery at the thought, but he nods to Grund. He, too, knows this might happen.

After eating and packing up, they head out to where Marland found the footprint. From there they decide to follow it, hopefully to where they'll find Roy.

With Marland leading the way, they are quite easily able to follow the tracks until they hit a river that blocks their path. The tracks seem to lead straight into the water, but it looks too dangerous to just walk into. "Hmm... Do we waste time and find a bridge, or try to cross here?" Marland wonders aloud. They check their supplies and find out they lack any sort of way to make this a safe crossing.

They walk along the river's edge for over an hour without any luck. In fact, the river banks keep getting deeper and deeper. "I hate to say it, but I think we will have to turn back and cross where we were in the first place, friends." Grund says. Having already wasted enough time, the others reluctantly agree. They all head back and try to find the location where they can hopefully pick up the trail again.

"Right, well, let's all hold hands and try to keep each other from falling." Ogvald says. "That'll be the safest way to cross. Don't lose your footing!" He warns before they head into the water.

Walking all those distances has taken a long time, and now, with their wet clothes, it seems unwise to keep going. "If we make camp here for tonight, we'll have the river water to cook with and drink. I believe that'll be a wise choice." Marland tells the others. He is, after all, an experienced hunter. After packing up again, they continue their journey. "We'll probably be even more behind Roy now. Chances are he doesn't stop at night." Ogvald says. "But where is he going? What is his goal?" Marland asks the group. "I'm not sure, Marland" Grund replies. "And I don't know how we'll be able to help him, but I vowed to help you find Roy and we will do it! The day starts out nice, but soon a storm comes rolling in. The dry clothes they had are soon soaking wet in this heavy downpour. Then Marland spots something up ahead. "Hey, what's that?" he shouts above the noise of wind and rain.

As they get closer, it becomes clear, and confirms their worst thoughts. There, on a small island just off the coast of a lake, they see the body of Roy. "Guys, we found him!" Grund shouts with excitement in his voice. But that excitement quickly fades when they notice the surrounding area. It's filled with about two dozen woodland creatures. Deer, wolves, foxes and even some smaller things like rabbits and birds. All of them have dark red eyes that almost shine on them like lights through the rain. And as if this wasn't bad enough, they can see why Roy is on that island.

Ogvald is the first to notice it. "That's not an island he's on... That's a dead giant! He's trying to resurrect the giant. We have to stop it before it's too late!"

Marland puts his hands to his lips and shouts as loud as he can. "Roy! Don't do this. Please! We've come to take you home. Let us take you home, Roy!"

There is no response from Roy. Or maybe there is... But not the way they would have liked. The creatures start to advance on the trio, baring their teeth. The humans are obviously not welcome.

Ogvald, Marland and Grund grab their weapons. "Men, this is where we need to take a stand. We will make our way through the creatures and stop this madness. For Roy!" Grund says in a low voice. "For Roy!" Ogvald and Marland reply. Then Marland releases an arrow. It hits one of the deer, which falls down to the ground. This sends all the creatures into a charge. The battle has begun.

With the animals all charging towards them, Marland only has time to shoot one more arrow before they reach their position. He knocks the arrow and lets loose, while the other two grab their weapons and brace for impact. "Are you ready for this, Ogvald?" Grund asks. He gets a nod back. Then Grund gets an idea.

"Ogvald, let's get behind that rock. Maybe we can surprise a few of them when they pass it." Not far from them is a rock about the size of a house. A good spot for an ambush. They head that way, with Marland a bit behind them after firing his arrow.

Marland's shot hits a wolf right in the eye. It keels over, and some other critters behind it eat the dust as they slam into the fox's body. Then he looks over to the rock to run that way, but there is no time. Grund and Ogvald are about half way there when they also realize they won't make it. "Grund! We have to take a stand here. Without Marland. Brace for impact!" Ogvald shouts as the two get ready to slash at the incoming foes.

Never the less, multiple razor sharp teeth and claws draw blood from the two defenders as well. "Stay back, you fiends! We'll kill every last one of you if we have to!"

While this is happening, the undead body of Roy is chanting some strange, dark language as it tries to resurrect the fallen giant.

Grund spots the biggest wolf in the pack. That must be the alpha. If I can scare him off, maybe the others will follow. He grabs his shield and starts to bang on it with the back of his axe, making loud noises at the same time. Doing this, he advances towards the big wolf.

This beast has obviously seen more dangerous fights when it was still alive. It hurls itself at Grund and sinks its teeth into the shield. The force of this bite is too great for the shield and it splinters under the pressure, lodging several large splinters into Grund's arm. "AAAAHH!" He cries out in pain as he sinks to his knees.

On the other side of the animal army, Marland has found himself in some trouble of his own. As he tries to load another arrow onto his bow, something bites his hand. A squirrel has leapt from a tree onto his back and is scratching and biting at him, causing him to drop his bow. He grabs the critter and throws it to the ground, only to see that about 5 more of them are advancing on him. As cute and cudly as they normally look out in the wild, these ones look angry and nasty.
