I guess it is best to assume SIMPLE for those first ones as it is first day and Jim is sorta to speak learning.
Apr 1, 2022 6:24 pm
Ha'aroo pays the 4 gold for his week stay at the Thundering Lizard and sets out with Lasme and anyone else who would like to join them in walking around the market district. Before he sets out to the market district he leaves behind his gear in his room and keeps is armor and one dagger with him as well as 2 gold. The other 4 gold pieces he hides in different places of the room just in case.

While he is out walking around and checking things out some things he is looking at is:
The different attire between the locals and the tourists,
How the locals react if they hear people talk in different languages besides common or if they speak anything else besides common,
How people are interacting with eachother (and learning that this is a bartering society hopefully)
And purchasing clothing that the locals wear
Purchasing 6 waterskins as diplomats kit doesnt include any
Purchasing an extra coin purse
OOC:
Critical rolls only work on attacks correct? Not on saving throws/skill checks/ability checks? Also let me know if I have to roll once for all that I hope to buy or if I can only buy 2 things per day and need to roll once more. If so then ill buy the clothes and waterskins

I'll see you all later, perhaps we can meet for a drink this evening?

Heading over to the the house of repose Travers pays for the full week and drops off his stuff. He then heads out to look for some souvenirs in the market place trying some simple haggling, finding some small keepsakes he thinks his parents might like he purchases them for half price. Before wandering around the city for the rest of the day.

Lasme walks around with Ha'aroo on the maketplace. She makes a point of standing to watch street performers and feel the vibe of their music. Moving, dancing a bit in place, to the tunes.

She makes a point of buying a souvenir. Something cultural and artsy, eventhough it is probably very fake anyway, and she makes a point to keep bugging Ha'aroo

"What do you think of that one? Oh, maybe that one? That is cute too..."

...
"Wait, what? They cost so much? Don't you feel ashamed charging a poor northern girl so much for that?"... apparently he does.

Simple haggling - (2d20L1+4)

Ha'aroo gives off a small chuckle as his kid sister runs about town fascinated by all the town has to offer. Looking around in marvel himself Ha'aroo remains calm and soft spoken, but to anyone who has known him for any length of time can see the glee in his eyes. Ha'aroo takes notes of all that fascinates his sister and will attempt to purchase a small item that she points out that looks native to this area but doesnt scream out Tourist! That is of course if I can still buy stuff. Already mentioned that I was looking for local clothes, waterskins, a second coin purse. I am selecting to haggle for the second purchase after assuming that I learn this is a haggling culture after my first purchase.

"Oh yes that is way too expensive for that. Hey you cant blame them. They know people will come in from out of town and pay these crazy prices."

Talking to Travers before they depart: "Sure we can try something like that. Not sure how late we will be out tonight since this is the first night but a few of us will be staying at the Thundering Lizard if you want to see about meeting up there later. "

Pacan feels the sweat roll down the back of her neck when they arrive in Port Nyanzaru. Blazes, I'm glad it isn't like this in Baldur's Gate or the grove. This is unbearable! she thinks to herself as the group starts to move through the town. As they start to talk of the raucous inn and getting drinks she smiles and waves politely. I appreciate the offer, but I think I'm going to seek out the House of Repose. Perhaps we can meet in the market for a late morning bite in the market tomorrow? she says as her eyes slide over the visual cacophony that is the city.

Some short time later, when she arrived at the quieter inn, she very happily handed over the eight gold pieces to reserve a room for the next seven days. Thanking the employees there, she secured her backpack, shield, and leather armor in the room. Her quarterstaff and mistletoe she kept with her, knowing how much walking she'd be doing. She turned around and headed back to the room when she got back outside, shaking her head. How could I forget to bring my waterskin?! she thinks to herself as she collects the heavy skin, finally heading back out into the town, content to wander around the harbor district for the day.

My mother suggested that I took a guided city tour on the first day. Seeing all the sights and knowing where to return later.
Cilia turns to Pacan. I think it sounds like a wonderfull idear meeting in the marked tomorrow morning. It will give each of use some time to explore, and tomorrow we can share what we have found.

Nebula was able to find one or few pubs and for the budget of 1 gp you are able to get 10 gallons of beer and obviously get a lot of people happy, or you could get 10 pitchers or common wine and drink it in a smaller company.
Please explain me your PC choice of drinks and strategy for choosing people to drink with. In any case please roll be a con save (for getting drunk), charisma (persuasion) and wisdom (insight) and I will narrate the outcome and amount of rumors you collected.

Pacan learns following
[ +- ] Booking a ship
Jim Corman learn about following :

OOC:
Jin and Pacan had chance of random encounter, but I did not roll it

DM Was I able to purchase everything I was trying to buy for the 10 cp and the first roll? I didnt see you say it was only for the clothes so I am going to add the clothes, waterskins, coin purse and souvenir in my character sheet unless you say otherwise.

OOC:
Yes I missed that let's assume your PC only purchased waterskin when realized full price of things is 4 times bigger than you are used to
Note to everyone: when you purchase anything full price is 4 times the prices noted in PHB, but you could Huggle (with it would take time). Effectively if you huggle aggressively (as any local does) you could buy things for 4/5 of the PHB price (i.e. pay 80% of the sum you would pay normally )

I have updated my previous post accordingly.

Ever the impulsive, Nebula blows all the cash she had set aside in a big blowout. Lucky for her, her mother had given her some times to avoid absolute self-destruction, like making sure she didn't bring out all her money.

Nebula tries to socialize with those with the loudest mouths and the largest ears - bards, innkeepers (free drinks!) and anyone who looks particularly interesting

Rolls

Con Save (Getting Drunk) - (1d20+3)

(1) + 3 = 4

Charisma (Persuasion) - (1d20+5)

(14) + 5 = 19

Wisdom (Insight) - (1d20-2)

(7) - 2 = 5

Question?. Is the Thundering Lizard only 4gp and not an 8gp option. I marked 8gp off for room and board thinking that. If it isn't an 8gp option then your correct and he is at Kaya’s House of Repose. Jim lives in a comfortable lifestyle. I marked off 8gp.

Jim did try:
'Guided tour on foot, 1gp, learn a 1 of 4 city districts : market, harbor, merchant's district or old town.' with 19 and 11 for haggling. I marked off 1gp and merchant's district knowledge.

'Buy souvenirs, 0.1 gp, no mechanical benefits, random events may occur. You may do it twice a day.' with 16 and 6 for haggling. I marked off 1sp and added a souvenir to inventory.

Didn't think I could do buy souvenirs twice in the same day as guided tour.

I failed to understand that I had to specify the Bargaining Strategy before rolling. I suggest that 'learning' since it is was his first day of doing haggling. Not a problem if that is no Star toward getting 3.

Leaves Jim Corman with 13gp, 4sp.

I fixed that. and yes you could either do 2 purchases or 1 other thing. So removing souvenir purchase and replace it with guided tour and poste detailed info about the district

Yeah just some souvenirs for Travers, marked off the copper he spent
Apr 3, 2022 3:43 pm
OOC:
Travers are you going to buy just one souvenier? It sounds like if you select the buying option you can buy two things which means you can try to haggle twice and hopefully get closer to not rolling with disadvantage later on

Nebula manages to attract a lot of people who likes free drinks and they all want to drink with her, but she is not used to drink in such a hot and humid weather and excuse herself soon. Still she managed to gather one rumor:
[ +- ] Rumor
OOC:
OK time to demonstrate that I love to push game forward, anyone who did Haggling souvenirs once lost their opportunity to do it again today. But don't worry you will be able to do it tomorrow. You have 6 more days.
It is late evening city life slows down. It is dark, but the bar in the inns you stay is still crowded. Nebula is drunk (mechanically poisoned condition will apply till the morning).
Everyone - please explain what do you do before going sleep.
If you stay in the bar and try to acquire new friends/information do

1) Con save if you drink alcohol
2) Either Int, Wis or Cha check twice (I may apply advantage or disadvantage and I may add your prof. bonus depending on what you do). The choice of ability depends on either you try to use your knowledge/erudition (INT), share experience (wis) or use jokes to earn friends (cha).

If you do something else, just pick your choice of ability score you think is more appropriate and also roll twice.

Jim spends the evening at Thundering Lizard with friends and surely drinks. He chats and looks to make new friends. Later he will return to Kaya’s House of Repose. Jim tells the party about his adventures in the Merchants district. Picks up Nebula if she falls out of her chair. Later leaves her in a pile on the chair/table.
OOC:
Minus 1gp for drinks to get new friends.
Edit: That was a CHA check and not a INT check. Smiles. Doesn't matter about the roll. Both are at +0.

Pacan opted for an early night, never one for carousing in the taverns. Also, the sweat was very real out here. After all, I have all week to do more touristy things, but getting my feet on the ground was wonderful. she thinks to herself as she gets cleaned up from the day. Knowing that sleep wasn't a thing she needed, so much as a meditative trance, she took a few hours to sit in quiet contemplation of all she had experienced today to make connections with her druidic training.
OOC:
Pacan is mirroring much of how I do vacations like this. Day 1 is never a big tourist event, it's always getting in and then a bit of casual existence.

Rolls

Wisdom check - (1d20+2)

(18) + 2 = 20

Wisdom check - (1d20+2)

(3) + 2 = 5

Ha'aroo just sips on a non alcoholic drink tonight. Ha'aroo keeps his eyes out for the group and makes no one tries to con, steal or anything else to the group. He stays down there until Nebula is in her room safe and sound as she looks like she had a great time earlier today.

As he is down in the bar he uses this time to share all the things he saw in the market to the others in the group, "...they got these little grabbers where you dont have to bend down to pick something off the floor and the silly thing is its looks like a lizard head..." and he also spends this time to talk with a few locals.
OOC:

Will be rolling widom for the shared experience option. Being a traceling man he has several experiences to draw from to relate to some locals and hopefully form a connection
OOC:
DM question when i was out during the day did i notice a difference in attire between the locals and tourists? And did i notice how or if the locals reacted to different languages being used?
