Chapter 1: Port Nyanzaru

Mar 25, 2022 1:00 pm

You appear in a tropical city under the blazing sun. The familiar sounds of a harbor—creaking ropes, slapping waves, heavy barrels rolling across cobblestones—mingle with voices shouting and cursing in an unfamiliar language filled with clicks, inhalations, and singsongy words that make it sound almost musical. The aroma of unfamiliar spices and tropical fruit mixes with the wharfside smells of fish, tar, and canvas.

Beyond all that, Port Nyanzaru is an explosion of color. Buildings are painted in bright shades of blue, green, orange, and salmon pink, or their walls are adorned with murals portraying giant reptiles and mythical heroes. Every building sports baskets and clay urns of colorful flowers or is draped in leafy, flowering vines. Minstrels in bright clothing adorned with feathers and shells perform on street corners. Multicolored pennants and sun awnings flutter atop the city walls. A crowd of children dressed in feathered hats and capes races past you, squealing in delighted terror as a street performer costumed as a big-toothed lizard stomps and roars behind them. The whole city seems to be bustling, sweating, laughing, swearing, and singing.

Tenday 1. Day 1. Mid-day
Syndra Silvane

Syndra recommends that the characters secure rooms for themselves at either the Thundering Lizard (if they’re looking for a raucous time) or Kaya’s House of Repose (if they want a good night’s sleep). Both inns are located near the Red Bazaar

Both Innkeepers know me and will give you a discount if you book all 7 nights which you will need to. You are on your own next 7 days.
7 days from today I will be waiting you at the merchant prince Wakanga O'tamu Villa, where we will be setting up opening party for our business. You must put all of your armour and bring weapons clean and shining for the parade - we don't want to show people at Baldur's gates don't know what a man at arms mean, do we?
Should a need arise you should formally request audience with me at the villa - just find any guard and call your name and say you want to meet Syndra Silvane, they will organise see to find time in my schedule for you.

She excuses herself and leaves you anxious looking around, hearing exotic sounds strange smells and sweeting in your homeland dressing. It is extremly hot and humid in the Port Nyanzaru at the moment.

Cilia looks at her companions and then around herself. She has a leather bundle containing the new weapons her brother gave her. She is going to show them off in a week's time.
What kind of inn do you prefer? Both have merrits
Mar 31, 2022 2:57 pm
Hmm it depends on where you want to stay sis. I usually like to go where the natives go as you know. Which usually isnt the more touristy nice places. But then again she didnt say one had more locals than the other ... But then again we dont want to put you in anything too hostile
Ha'aroo looks up at the sky pondering the pros and cons of each option
Mar 31, 2022 6:15 pm
Lasme looks around. Standing in place, she is already letting the vibe of the city come to her. A strange city in a far land! So awesome! She'd for sure get a lot of inspiration here. Lovely! She's had to see it all. She'd had to taste all the new food. Seven days would be way to short, she knew for sure.

The Thundering Lizard of course, big bro! she blurted out without thinking. Sounds like it could be the proper place for a party and I would love to see how these locals party!
Mar 31, 2022 6:19 pm
The half-orc stands agog looking around the port sweat running down his face before snapping out of his bewilderment, adjusting his pack, which jangles slightly, before speaking.

If they're close to one another we could check out both taverns before deciding no?
Mar 31, 2022 8:53 pm
Nebula wraps a friendly arm around Lasme. "That's my kinda gal! Let's party!"

The navy skinned tiefling was rearing to go and always lived life in the moment. Her entire arrival had been jumping from stall to stall, pointing dramatically at different sights with awed "ooh"s and "ahhh"s, and an occasional "wow! You've got to see this!"
Mar 31, 2022 11:10 pm
Jim seems to like to look about as the places seems very appealing. He chimes in, Yeah. The Thundering Lizard sounds like fun. Lets check it out now. He is ready to unload his gear.

The group find Travers' suggestion reasonable and have no proble to find Red Bazaar as every local knows it's location.
Both inns are indeed close. The cost is 1 GP and 2 GP per day accordingly, but when innkeepers learn about your relationship to Syndra they suggest you to stay all 7 days but only pay for 4 days. You would need to pay 4 and 8 GP accordingly upfront if you agree to the deal.
OOC:
OK, this is how I would like to run chapter 1. I will list you the choices and some skill ckecks/DC you could choose among. You don't need all to do the same, I would actually expect every player to chose something else. You will be gather more or less information based on your choices and rolls. Your PCs will be able to share the info you gathered, but as players you will immediately see all the info as I will describe it in this thread

The choices - you have to choose what your PC does during a day. We will continue with evening/night life later

Choice name Full Cost Description Notes
City tour on a dinosaur 5 gp learn entire city
Guided tour on foot 1 gp learn a 1 of 4 city districts : market, harbor, merchans district or old town
Wonder through the city free walk any of 4 district hoping for random events (no info of locations)
Buy souvenirs 0.1 gp no mechanical benefits, random events may occure. You may do it twice a day.
Pub/inn crawl wary gather gossips and roll some fancy getting drunk/bar fight rolls depending on how much money you spend and DMs rolls

Your characters are not used to it, but in this city all prices are extremely negotiable. Including alcohol in a pub. You should do charisma check (no proficiencies applied) with disadvantage every time you to negotiate price down the "full cost" . You will loose disadvantage after 3rd passed check (please tick your passed checks in your character sheets)

Bargain strategy DC Pass outcome Fail outcome
Aggressive 15 You pay 20% of the price You fail the option for today - sellers are mad at you, you could try different option from table above though
Simple 10 Half price You could chose either pay full price or try other options
Learning 5 Pay full price Pay half price (you can't try other checks)

Example1:
PC decide to do Aggressive Guided tour and fail. He could now choose a different option and choose normal pub crawl, but fail again (did not find a cheap pub). PC decide the free option Wonder through the city and don't need to roll charism
Example2:
Player want to get dyno with 20% but understand that with disadvantage is too hard to get DC 15, so he goes wth Learning option on souvenirs twice and earn two Passed check for 0.2 gp.

Please also choose the inn and weather you take the deal to pay for 4 days upfront or you only pay for one day and forego discount.

Cilia pays the 4gp for the week and what to go for a City tour on a dinosaur. She tries to haggle with the dino-rider. He does not budge in his prices, so she just pays the full price

Ha'aroo gives off a deep laugh when Lasme gives out a blurt of her desires to stay at the Thundering Lizard then turns shrugs his shoulders when Travers gives his suggestion. "Yeah we can check out both if you want but I think I know where Lasme and I will be going. Heck we can even meet up every morning after breakfast if we decide to split up between the two inns if you want. Share any good spots we found the day before we think the others might want to see."

"Hey Lasme. Any things you want to see or do while we are here?"

Ha'aroo begins travelling to the inns with Cilia and whoever else joins them to check out the two inns. (after he receives an answer from Lasme or asks her while she is walking to the inns with him)

Spent 8gp at inn for comfortable week. Where Jim has dropped off most of his gear. Not going to haul around a wooden case of goodies.
Jim wishes everyone a good day as he breaks off from the group. He looks about to find a good guide. He will haggle among them to get the best deal. That and it is expected of him to do so. It is obvious he is a foreigner. Haggle 11. :)

He will spend his time learning about which ever district the Thundering Lizard is in. (Probably the Red Bazaar and being merchants?) He did consider the dinosaur trip but wasn't so keen on the dinosaur itself. Jim isn't a fan of waters so he really doesn't care to go to the harbor. He doesn't even care for fish to eat.
OOC:
Woot. Still have 13gp, 5sp for drinks. (I didn't add any discount from the haggling.)

Guided tour on foot, 1gp, learn a 1 of 4 city districts : market, harbor, merchants district or old town.

He would do 'Buy souvenirs, 0.1 gp, no mechanical benefits, random events may occur. You may do it twice a day.' too if he can. While doing the walking tour. (Unsure if I need a haggling roll there too?)

As part of his comfortable lifestyle he is sure to gotten a few treats on his walk as well to eat and sample. Might even bring a few back with him when he returns to the inn. Jim is on vacation. He likes to know the area around him.

Torn between her big brother acting as a bit of a chaperone and Nebula starting the party already, Lasme follows the gang to the Thundering Lizard, where she gets a room for the seven days to come.

Surely, a tour on one of these big lizard creatures would be fun, if not expensive.

"I think it would indeed be a good idea to meet every morning. Maybe not too early..."

She looks at Nebula with a smile and says
"We'll party together soon!"

But she wants to be inspired by culture too.
"How about a walk at the market? There is bound to be culture there!"

That's why purchasing souvenirs twice is a good investment into your trading skill

Ha'aroo pays the 4 gold for his week stay at the Thundering Lizard and sets out with Lasme and anyone else who would like to join them in walking around the market district. Before he sets out to the market district he leaves behind his gear in his room and keeps is armor and one dagger with him as well as 2 gold. The other 4 gold pieces he hides in different places of the room just in case.

While he is out walking around and checking things out some things he is looking at is:
The different attire between the locals and the tourists,
How the locals react if they hear people talk in different languages besides common or if they speak anything else besides common,
How people are interacting with eachother (and learning that this is a bartering society hopefully)
And purchasing clothing that the locals wear
Purchasing 6 waterskins as diplomats kit doesnt include any
Purchasing an extra coin purse
OOC:
Critical rolls only work on attacks correct? Not on saving throws/skill checks/ability checks? Also let me know if I have to roll once for all that I hope to buy or if I can only buy 2 things per day and need to roll once more. If so then ill buy the clothes and waterskins

Lasme walks around with Ha'aroo on the maketplace. She makes a point of standing to watch street performers and feel the vibe of their music. Moving, dancing a bit in place, to the tunes.

She makes a point of buying a souvenir. Something cultural and artsy, eventhough it is probably very fake anyway, and she makes a point to keep bugging Ha'aroo

"What do you think of that one? Oh, maybe that one? That is cute too..."

...
"Wait, what? They cost so much? Don't you feel ashamed charging a poor northern girl so much for that?"... apparently he does.

Ha'aroo gives off a small chuckle as his kid sister runs about town fascinated by all the town has to offer. Looking around in marvel himself Ha'aroo remains calm and soft spoken, but to anyone who has known him for any length of time can see the glee in his eyes. Ha'aroo takes notes of all that fascinates his sister and will attempt to purchase a small item that she points out that looks native to this area but doesnt scream out Tourist! That is of course if I can still buy stuff. Already mentioned that I was looking for local clothes, waterskins, a second coin purse. I am selecting to haggle for the second purchase after assuming that I learn this is a haggling culture after my first purchase.

"Oh yes that is way too expensive for that. Hey you cant blame them. They know people will come in from out of town and pay these crazy prices."

Talking to Travers before they depart: "Sure we can try something like that. Not sure how late we will be out tonight since this is the first night but a few of us will be staying at the Thundering Lizard if you want to see about meeting up there later. "

Pacan feels the sweat roll down the back of her neck when they arrive in Port Nyanzaru. Blazes, I'm glad it isn't like this in Baldur's Gate or the grove. This is unbearable! she thinks to herself as the group starts to move through the town. As they start to talk of the raucous inn and getting drinks she smiles and waves politely. I appreciate the offer, but I think I'm going to seek out the House of Repose. Perhaps we can meet in the market for a late morning bite in the market tomorrow? she says as her eyes slide over the visual cacophony that is the city.

Some short time later, when she arrived at the quieter inn, she very happily handed over the eight gold pieces to reserve a room for the next seven days. Thanking the employees there, she secured her backpack, shield, and leather armor in the room. Her quarterstaff and mistletoe she kept with her, knowing how much walking she'd be doing. She turned around and headed back to the room when she got back outside, shaking her head. How could I forget to bring my waterskin?! she thinks to herself as she collects the heavy skin, finally heading back out into the town, content to wander around the harbor district for the day.

My mother suggested that I took a guided city tour on the first day. Seeing all the sights and knowing where to return later.

Note to everyone: when you purchase anything full price is 4 times the prices noted in PHB, but you could Huggle (with it would take time). Effectively if you huggle aggressively (as any local does) you could buy things for 4/5 of the PHB price (i.e. pay 80% of the sum you would pay normally )

I have updated my previous post accordingly.

Ever the impulsive, Nebula blows all the cash she had set aside in a big blowout. Lucky for her, her mother had given her some times to avoid absolute self-destruction, like making sure she didn't bring out all her money.

Question?. Is the Thundering Lizard only 4gp and not an 8gp option. I marked 8gp off for room and board thinking that. If it isn't an 8gp option then your correct and he is at Kaya’s House of Repose. Jim lives in a comfortable lifestyle. I marked off 8gp.

Jim did try:
'Guided tour on foot, 1gp, learn a 1 of 4 city districts : market, harbor, merchant's district or old town.' with 19 and 11 for haggling. I marked off 1gp and merchant's district knowledge.

'Buy souvenirs, 0.1 gp, no mechanical benefits, random events may occur. You may do it twice a day.' with 16 and 6 for haggling. I marked off 1sp and added a souvenir to inventory.

Didn't think I could do buy souvenirs twice in the same day as guided tour.

I failed to understand that I had to specify the Bargaining Strategy before rolling. I suggest that 'learning' since it is was his first day of doing haggling. Not a problem if that is no Star toward getting 3.

Leaves Jim Corman with 13gp, 4sp.

Pacan opted for an early night, never one for carousing in the taverns. Also, the sweat was very real out here. After all, I have all week to do more touristy things, but getting my feet on the ground was wonderful. she thinks to herself as she gets cleaned up from the day. Knowing that sleep wasn't a thing she needed, so much as a meditative trance, she took a few hours to sit in quiet contemplation of all she had experienced today to make connections with her druidic training.

As he is down in the bar he uses this time to share all the things he saw in the market to the others in the group, "...they got these little grabbers where you dont have to bend down to pick something off the floor and the silly thing is its looks like a lizard head..." and he also spends this time to talk with a few locals.

Travers gets back to the market Square after wandering for awhile, heading into the thundering lizard he gets a mug of ale from the bar and speaks to his travelling companions listening to the stories they have from the day.

Realising he could have done more with his day he decides to find out if there are any sporting arenas or tracks in the city he may be able to visit whilst here in the city asking around the clientele and the bar staff.

"Wooooo hooooo~~" Nebula spins around the room, dancing from table to table, until something in her stomach wobbles and she feels her body revolting against her. "Wooo hoo-Urk!!"

A short bathroom breaker and the joyful tiefling appears to have been replaced with a melancholic one. "You guys!" she blubbers to her recent drinking companions "You're the besht! What would I doo without you!?!". She sees Jim reaching for her as she begins to fall off her chair and puckers her lips, expecting him to kiss her. However, the only kiss she recieves is by the ground, before Jim rights her up again.

After a few more hours of drinking, she reluctantly retires to bed upon Ha'aroo's sound advice, but not before an outburst of sobbing that she loved her new group of friends SO MUCH.

Once she enters her room, she falls face-first on the bed and instantly begins snoring.

You company, and especially half-orc Travers attracted a female half-orc pries of Torm by name Undril Silvertusk .
You learned that she is a representative of the Order of the Gauntlet and also newly arrived in Port Nyanzaru (she used ship though).
She needs to deliver herself plus a packet of dispatches from her superiors to Camp Vengeance. Undril was led to believe she could simply buy a horse in the city and ride to the camp, but now that she sees the terrain and conditions, that’s clearly not possible. She hopes to join any expedition headed up the River Soshenstar.

She shares with you the map of Chult as much as she have it

Ha'aroo turns to his group, "is anyone good at making copys of maps? I would like to have an extra copy of this if possible.
OOC:
DM a few questions for you. Is she giving us this map or is she just showing it to us? Also would i be able to make an extra copy of it using my diplomats kit or is there another kit and skills that are needed?

OOC:
DM you mentioned Pacan waking for the moment so I am going to continue as if Ha'aroo wakes up after the nights rest if thats ok. I dont want to go ahead of you in the story but at the same time I dont want to wait for you as you are waiting for us.
Once back in his room he checks the different spots he had hidden his gold to make sure his room was not raided while he was out and then goes to sleep. After a nights rest Ha'aroo grabs a bite to eat for breakfast and waits for Nebula and his sister to get done before making their way to the other inn to meet up with the rest of the group taking two gold with him.

Undril stay in Thundering Lizard and it would be obvious you could either find her at Thundering Lizard until she join any expedition.
OOC:
She certainly need the map for herself. I would say you need Cartographer's Tools to copy the map. Sounds about right to me. In any case I think during the night as you were drinking and knowing you only have been 6 days it didn't seem relevant to you. Or did it?

In any case forgot to add
Tenday 1. Day 2. Morning
OOC:
What do you do? You have same options as you had yesterday or anything else you want to do/explore.
Additionally both inn innkeepers recommend to go see dinosaur racing (SE part of the city outside the city walls). dinosaur racing only takes place in the morning when not yet too hot
Apr 4, 2022 8:09 pm
"Urghhh..." Nebula moans, holding her head. "Why is the sun so bright in this land..." Her face is more grey than blue this morning as she slumps after the rest of the group in their morning activity.

"Watching... the races.. sounds like I can stay very still, and maybe in the shade. That sounds like a great idea" She smiles to the innkeeper, heavy dark bags sagging around her eyes.
OOC:
Is there a cost?
Apr 5, 2022 12:31 am
Pacan smiled at the cook as she enjoyed some of the interesting and unusual foods. She was enjoying watching the city wake up outside the inn when Ha'aroo, Nebula, and Lasme meet them there.

Oh! Good morning! How was your evening last night? I had a very lovely rest here, and heard some positively fascinating things about the jungles around here! Did you know that a green dragon died near here?! she says happily.
Apr 5, 2022 1:57 am
Jim comes over to the Thundering Lizard from the Kaya’s House of Repose in an easy stroll. He up and read to move at the break of day. He smiles as he approaches to see others. Well lets hope this day is adventurous. And if the weather holds well we can enjoy it.
Apr 5, 2022 2:13 am
A Green Dragon!?! Oh wow how fascinating! I wonder how old it was. Do you know if the locals took it down or did they live in peace with it?

Last night was nice. We met this nice half orc lady last night. I think she might have had a thing for Travers but I could be wrong. She needed some help going to a camp maybe a week or two from here. Hmm what else. There are some pretty nice shops in the market district but everything is super expensive. The shop keepers are ok with talking them down in price. Youll go broke fast here if you pay for what they ask for." as Ha'aroo gives off a chuckle.

Looking over at the group "do you guys have any clue on what you might want to do today? Im thinking i might either go to the dinosaur races or possibly a guided tour of the old town.

When Nebula mentions money regarding dinosaur racing, innkeeper laughs. You could waste your money betting, but race takes place in the streets, no entree fee. More over, one race a day is run buy non-professionals and they prefer foreigners, so you could even have a chance to ride a dino for free of not afraid of it.
Apr 5, 2022 10:36 am
Actually to boost things up once anyone of PCs show up at the race they learn that they could bet using betting rules below and they could participate "foreigner run" once a day for free where they will be competing to each other but not against professionals.
Rules also below
Each PC could do either or both: betting and/or racing

Ha'aroo what? I didn't notice?

Visibly excited about racing he doesn't stand still whilst everyone discusses plans.

we can tour the city tomorrow, c'mon dinosaur racing, I've never really seen dinosaurs. We might even be able to have a go racing

Racing - dinosaurs? That sounds absolutely thrilling! I would love a chance to try riding one of them! Pacan says, almost giddy sounding at the opportunity.
OOC:
Definitely down to be a pilot! Let's race!
Apr 5, 2022 1:33 pm
"I think the both of you have the right idea! Ill do some touring some other time. I have never seen a dinosaur let alone rode one before. I gotta see what they look like. Hey Jim and Lasme are you guys down to check out some dinosaurs?"

Ha'aroo joyfully strides down to the dino track with the group (when they are ready to go) and marvels over the humongous beasts. Stunned that these creatures actually exists in real life and not just in fairy's tales. After a moment or two of watching people ride these large creatures Ha'aroo finds it very hard not to ride the dinosaurs "I think i am in! I want to compete with you all if you want to race!"
OOC:
DM is there only 4 dinosaurs or can we pick the same option and only 4 of us can race at a time?
Apr 5, 2022 1:36 pm

OK anyone who want to race rad the rules twice (I've just fixed it), choose a dino and start rolling your animal handling, noting with each roll if you are doing lashing or not. Keep rolling (you could just do edit your post and add another roll) until you believe you reach 300 foots.

A few years ago Ha'aroo used to live with an Orc tribe and had picked up a pretty cool trick from the Shaman in the tribe and wonders if it will work here. Ha'aroo walks to an area that is not very populated or out in the open and casts Speak with Animals. He then goes up to each one of the creatures and asks how they are doing. He tries to see if any of them love or hate racing and guage who is ready to run and who is just not feeling up to it today.

Walking around with Jim checking out the different creatures he turns to Jim and asks "You planning on getting on one of these and do a little racing? This is going to be a once in a lifetime opportunity while we are here." Im debating between this Dimetrodon and that Deinonychus over there. It seems like most people go for the two leggers and this little one seems itching to go Ha'aroo says while looking at one of the Dimetrodon's in the eyes. Nebula looks over the dinosaurs like she knows what she's doing and has a good feeling about one of them - but when she sees the odds on Mountain Thunder, she has to bet on them. She puts all her money down (that she assigned for the day) on the dinosaur, then cries when it comes dead last.

Seeing the others gear up, Nebula decides to join them. Most of the effects of last night wearing off. She declines the lashing stick, feeling sorry for the beasts and spurs her mount (of course, the fastest one she could see, ignoring the difficulty to ride) onwards through encouraging words alone.

She follows up at the rear, but in a respectable time. Nebula gives the Dino a big hug before returning to the stands. That was a lot of fun!

@Tasrek - which dino did you choose? If it was "Allosaurus, young" animal handling was DC 16. If Dimetrodon then it run 30 normal and 50 on lashing, but you were adding 50. You probably did it based on my initially announced rules that I edited later, sorry for that.

In any case let's just assume Ha'aroo win with somehwere at round 10 or 11 because based on my calculations you would need 50 more feet and even dino fail con save you would do it in two rounds on lashing

So Ha'aroo was bold enough to try lashing his Dimetrodon for an easy win in the race. But you all had inspiring experience rinding the beasts
OOC:

After the race, while delivering dinos back one of the bet takers approach you and congratulates Ha'aroo. I bet you chose the right dino for you! I made some good money on betting today.
You start talking about his business and when he hear about Travers background he explains that he need to collect a debt from a professional Gladiator. A dozen well armed man would probably be sufficiently intimidating for the man. I hope

Debt collector K’lahu will pay is 10 percent of whatever is collected on the 500 gp debt, which is owed by a man named Taban (male Chultan human gladiator).

I hope you enjoy some dice rolling even though it did not have any significant impact on the story. Jim tells Ha'aroo, I knew you could do it. Well done indeed. and looking over Nebula, Sorry your dino wasn't so good. Looking to both, Why don't we check out the markets. Get a good guide and see what there is buy around here. I hope to get some more treats to eat too.

"Yes! I wonder if we could buy some of those nice clothes everyone is wearing. We might fit in better too"

After handing back the Dino Travers approaches Ha'aroo Good racing, you were so fast he smiles and reaches to shake his hand.

Unfortunately there's not a dozen of us or we could try and make some more gold to spend whilst were here. What's everyone's plan for the rest of the day?
Apr 6, 2022 9:21 am
K’lahu: well half dozen may also suffice if they know how to impress a gladiator he punches the air when says word "impress". Though he would guess you are not type of person for the job, he may still be interested i the deal the other day: The job is legal should you be worried about it. So if you change your mind or happen to need easy money you know where to find me
Apr 6, 2022 12:24 pm
Pacan was all smiles when she got off the dino. Win or lose, it was an absolute thrill to ride something so strange!

That was absolutely amazing! her happiness evident in her tone. When she hears the man talking about collecting a debt from a local gladiator she sighs. Even here it seems that all folks cared about was getting their coin. But still, if one made a promise and broke it, that was worse.

I'd be happy to go along to help this man fulfill his promise to pay, if the others are interested. It would be nice to get a bit of extra coin. Like Nebula said, one of those local dresses looks so much more comfortable for this heat!

The one i picked was the Dimetrodon with the DC of 8. Sorry i must have read the rules wrong or you said an initial announcement of the rules. I was thinking if we beat the DC by 5 then we use the faster number and you only lash to gain adcantage on the DC roll. I only have like 5 more gold left and I wanted to try a dinosaur tour or two before we go home. A little extra coin right now couldnt hurt." Ha'aroo says while shrugging his shoulders as an indication that he wouldnt mind taking the job if everyone else was down for it.

Ha'aroo is greatful for the teams kind words and thanks each one who congratulated him on the win as well as shakes Traver's hand when he reaches out for a handshake. I was thinking about going to the market and try to buy some meat for (Insert name of Dimetrodon if Ha'aroo had a conversation with it) as I promised I would get some if we won. And maybe get some new clothes. The local garments are the best kind of souvenirs. But now im debating on dino tour or clothes as there isnt enough money for both.

Before Ha'aroo leaves the racetrack with the group he walks over to the person he handed the dinosaur to and asks "Question do you know if there is anywhere in the city that rents out riding dinosaurs by chance? And if so how much it would cost? We met a lovely woman the other day who is trying to go to Camp Vengeance but is having a difficult time getting there."

OOC:
All dinosaurs are beasts as intelligent Crocodile both real life and DnD. If your PC think a cow understand him so would a Dimetrodon do :).
You learn following from those who treat dinosaurs: in city environment only small sized dinosaurs are used. For example Allosaurus - when it will grow it will be killed for food. It dangerous to keep large dinosaurs and expensive to feed them.
Small sized dinosaurs are fancy and could manage short races, but they much worse and more expensive than horses if you are looking for a mount.
OOC:
Draft horse as per rules cost 50 gp saddles 10 gp, it means in Chult it's full price is 240 gp for saddled horse, but you could get it down to 48 gp with aggressive Haggling

Excellent thank you. Just wanted to check when I did the speak with animals spell. The spell doesnt say it has a minimum or maximum intelligence that the beast needs to be. And yeah I wasnt sure if dinosaurs could be used as mounts outside the city. I know the Orc lady was saying she was hoping to get a horse when she got here and found out that horses are not good for this type of area.

"I dont think ill be able to join you today for a tour. I promised ol Betsy
(Im just going to say the Dimetrodon said her name was Betsy when i was talking with her if thats ok) some food for doing such a great job in the races this morning."

Ha'aroo turns to the debt collector, "Could you please come by the Thundering Lizard tomorrow morning? We should have an answer for you then. I want to make sure all of our group would like to do it before we make a decision. Im sure if the wage was increased to 20% they may be more inclined to take the offer." Ha'aroo tries to haggle the price of the job up since he has learned yesterday that this is a haggling community.

First he tries to buy 1 silver's worth of meat for half off and then he will try to haggle for the second time in the afternoon for some clothes. Ha'aroo fail to find anyone who would sell him piece of a meat. Whole chicken at full price of 4 sp is smallest you could buy in the market.
OOC:
I've added a post to the "Rules and Policies" to provide details on purchasing options. I consider a whole chicken/turkey/pig purchase mundane at Chult, but purchase a piece of a mean not so.
Clother are certainly mundane just as waterskin. For anything else you have to ask DM

Your day part 2 activities:

Ha'aroo: purchase dino food/clothes
Nebula - purchase din clothes (do not plan to do second purchase he could still manage today. Another passed check will get you next level in hugglin)
Travers - puchase waterskin (do not plan to do second purchase he could still manage today). You could do another purchase without disadvantage
Jim - guided tour on the Market district
Pacan Lathalas - dino tour!
Lasme - does nothing

This shows how your haggling experience will change:
Ha'aroo Jassan ⭐⭐ +⭐ (congratulations, you don't have disadvantage on haggling any more)

Travers ⭐⭐ + ⭐ (congratulations, you don't have disadvantage on haggling any more)

Additional question. Will looking like the locals help with future haggle checks?

One more thing lol wanted to check how and if a character can gauge enemy strength. Would a character be able to insight to see if the opponent(s) in front of them looks to be an easy, medium, hard or impossible challenge?

Fixed.
OOC:
Jim will buy small items 1gp worth so they are touch more costly than the cheap copper stuff. This is done while on the tour of course.

As the trio (Jim, Nubula, and Travers) travel with him on the guide tour. (If Jim has to pay for their way, he will.) He of course gets treats while walking.
Jim looks over some clothing, Nubula. These would be nice but terribly expensive. while touring.

To Travers, "Waterskins are nice but I want a metal drinking flask myself. Perhaps later I will look for one." while touring.

Nothing, even local dress affect haggle mechanics. It could however remove disadvantage on any other cha checks you may be doing in scope of the RP
gauge enemy strength - good questions. I know there are some subclass features that could help with that, but specifically for ToA it may be a good idea to introduce additional mechanics. Still if the question is about Gladiator, I would say Travers due to his background would know that an average gladiator would be around "CR 5 monster", but unless he see him fighting he will not be able to say if the particular one is above or below average.

Nebula smiles to Jim, silently noting the outfit for later.
Later that evening, sporting her new loose-fit outfit, Nebula decides to take the evening to know the people here a bit better. She takes a big mug of ale and sits down with anyone who'll listen. A bit of flirting never hurt conversation either.

Gotcha thank you. I was indeed referring to the gladiator as well as to see if I would be able to size up some ruffians that may want to join us in this debt collection since one of our members has disappeared and im not sure if my sister feels up to the job.
Ha'aroo will go back to Undril Silvertusk and let her know that he found out that she might be able to rent out a dinosaur as they may be able to travel through the jungles better than a horse however it will be much more expensive then getting a horse. He regrets to inform her that they are only there for 5 more days and judging by her map they would not be able to make it down there and back in less than 5 days.

He will be spending the rest of the night sizing up some people at the bar and see if anyone will want to join them. Ha'aroo will be looking for at least two people (4 at the most) that he believes is as strong as each member in our group or stronger. If its an insight check it will be plus 2 as I have proficiency on that skill.

Afterwards he will check the hidding places for the gold he hid in his room to make sure no one came in and robbed him during the day and then go to bed.

Ha'aroo will do the same things for the afternoon.

In the evening he will change a little of what I previously mentioned as there will be less funds to hire out some help. Instead of searching out for some strong help he will just instead hang out at the bar have a few beers and just chat it up with some locals and make some new friends. Jim has had enough walking and haggling and such for the day. He will be at the inn and works to get Nebula to perform. He reminds himself to try to cut down her drinking as it seems she doesn't do well.

Jim fully lacks most any artistic ability at all. He is a good listener and fairly diplomatic in attitude. And Nebula knows well that Jim doesn't speak any Infernal. Although he is fluent in Draconic and Elvish.

Pack includes: some extra money sent by your parents (reset your money to that in your background minus 4gp or 8 gp for inn accordingly)
Local dress and waterskin for each of you

2. You are quick to hear following news as mostly everyone is talking just about that

Day 3. Morning
OOC:
All PCs gain lvl 2! Your PCs undergo acclimatization and are more capable now. From RP perspective I would assume you do not learn your lvl 2 features, you were simply unable to user then in the first two days in the hot climate
When you wake up next morning it is very heavy raining outside so you stay in your inn doing nothing first few hours. Raind ends soon and you know you have only few hours before mid-day heat (when everything is closed). You decide to go to market and realize that death curse has changed the marketing culture. No trader want to chat with buyers and want to interact as little as possible being afraid of death disease spreading
OOC:
From now and up there is no haggling and all prices for equipment in PHB is per PHB. If you want to sell items with cost in PHB you could sell them at half price unless I've noted item as damaged/rotted/otherwise low quality - that would be 1/4 of the PHB cost
OOC:
As it is weekend I will be waiting approximately 48 hours for your next but you could:
1. Choose any item in PHB and try to buy it. DM will tell if that item is available on the Chult market. This requires no time
2. Spend the other 2 hours to visit any place or try the quest
3. Improvise anything else

Jim Corman Recap:

Kaya’s House of Repose is where Jim sleeps & Gear is, but go to Thundering Lizard mostly. Jim lives a comfortable lifestyle and buys treats often and drinks often. (Con save unknown DC)

Knowledge of Districts.
Market: Personal Tour.
Harbor: Heard some from Dinosaur Tour. "Booking a ship"
Merchants: Personal Tour.
Old Town: Heard some from Dinosaur Tour.

Items: (Jim already had a waterskin) Has 13gp and 5sp.
Silver Bracelet with gold trim (1gp) (it is meant for a gift later possibily.)
Common clothing of the area.

Rumors and Such:

** Rumor: The great god Ubtao once guided the people of Chult, be he tired of their constant warring and abandoned them. Since then, Chultans have turned to the worship of other gods, some of which were tricksters and deceivers.

** You company, and especially half-orc Travers attracted a female half-orc pries of Torm by name Undril Silvertusk .

** Rumor: Chult was once a playground for a green dragon. Her bones mark the location of a hidden treasure trove. If you travel to Mezro and head east across the Laughing Gorge, then south toward Kir Sabal, you might stumble on the dragon’s bones and earn yourself a place in the history books! A waitress shares that it The Flaming Fist has already plundered the ruins of Mezro, so time could be short.
The Flaming Fist is a mercenary company headquartered in (and fiercely loyal to) Baldur’s Gate. The Fist maintains a permanent stronghold in Chult at Fort Beluarian. From there, Flaming Fist patrols strike out into the jungle to "pacify" territory and claim lost treasures. The Flaming Fist does as it pleases, including demanding that explorers buy charters. A charter grants permission to the holder to explore Chult and plunder its riches, but half of an expedition’s proceeds and discoveries must be turned over to the Flaming Fist.

** Quest: Debt collector K’lahu will pay is 10 percent of whatever is collected on the 500 gp debt, which is owed by a man named Taban (male Chultan human gladiator).

** Death curse rumor: The talk have all been about the so-called death curse: a wasting disease afflicting everyone who’s ever been raised from the dead. Victims grow thinner and weaker each day, slowly but steadily sliding toward the death they once denied. When they finally succumb, they can’t be raised—and neither can anyone else, regardless of whether they’ve ever received that miracle in the past. Temples and scholars of divine magic are at a loss to explain a curse that has affected the entire region, and possibly the entire world.

** Undril Silvertusk (the priest with map) have discovered several guides - each charge 5 gold coins per day and promise to guide you through the jungle alive. Most of them request 30-day advance payment though. It appears to be a typical business in the Chult to go into jungles and plunder all cities abandoned long ago, but still holding some treasures.

** City of Mezro: The city of Mezro was not destroyed during the Spellplague after all. Its ruins are an illusion. I heard a pale-skinned man whisper this to a dinosaur man with a big sword. The dinosaur man smelled like honeysuckle.

** Airship crashed in jungles: Some city folk were expecting the arrival of a Halruaan airship called the Star Goddess. It never arrived. I bet it crashed in the jungle somewhere.

Pacan, exhausted from the long day of racing and touring the city, does turn in early. The heat is still oppressive to her, but she is definitely getting more used to it with every passing hour.

When she finally sets out from the House of Repose the next day, she decides to poke around some merchants and see what's generally available for sale. Remembering the tour yesterday and the mention of insect repellent she decides to purchase a pair of tins of it, not fully trusting its ability to be waterproof. She also decides to finally try something local and seeks out a place where she can acquire some tej!
OOC:
Reset money to 17 (25 from background - 8 for the inn). Then spent 2 gp to get 2 tins of insect repellent. How much would the tej cost her and any special rolls for it specifically?

She finds tej in the marked, price vary on amount, see recap thread where I copied into obtained earlier

Ha'aroo wakes up after a nice long rest and gets dressed in his new clothes. He spends a little time writting in his journel about his experiences so far to aid him in his book. Then he puts 15 copper in his new coin purse and the rest of his money in his original coin purse and hides that one on his body before making his way to the breakfast table. After finishing his breakfast he waits for the rain to die down and meets up with the group for their daily morning recap session.
As they are all walking in the market district he turns to the group "dang that death curse thing everyone is talking about seems crazy. You think there is any truth to it?"

Continuing further assuming he was told all that the group has learned on their tours (please let me know if you didnt tell the group what you learned) Ha'aroo says "you guys want to help out that debter for some extra cash? I know some of you were down for it while others seemed unsure. If not visiting the old town might be fun if anyone wants to go. What do you guys want to do?"
Apr 9, 2022 2:48 pm
Not sure about the truth or not, but certainly interesting! Pacan says around Swiss of the sweet tej. Hmm, this is tasty. I think I'll get a cask to keep in my room! she thinks as they wander.

Having a bit of extra coin for some of the shops would certainly be nice! Plus, who knows, maybe it earns us a favor with one of these merchant princes somehow. she continues as they walk on.
OOC:
Pacan definitely shares all the cool information.

Priests are going to have fun with this Death Curse. No plans to die any time soon.

Collecting on the debt could be interesting, but I'm also interested in Undril Silvertusk. Who knows what we might find while doing that. I'm fairly much done with the touring and this Silvertusk might take up a lot of our time and could be a problem. What do you all think?

Travers gets a good night's rest and meets with the others for breakfast and discussion the following morning.

"I'm up for helping K'lahu collect of his debt, some extra gold wouldn't hurt either. As interesting as helping Silvertusk might be I don't think we have time as we wouldn't be back in time for the party with Syndra!"
Apr 10, 2022 12:11 am
"I agree with Travers. It might be interesting to do something outside the city. But looking at that map it looks like it would be over 300 miles roundtrip and we were brought here to be here and ready in 4 days from now. We'd never make it there and back in that time. Thats over 75 miles a day. It looks like we are all ok with helping K'lahu out lets go over and let him know if you are all ready now."

Ha'aroo starts walking that way to the race track unless someone says otherwise

You meet K’lahu and together go to the gladiator's private house. K’lahu do not knock on door, but simply enter the house which appears to be unlocked. You discover a man wearing studded leather drinking what some of you already recognize as tej (local alcoholic drink).
The room is minimally decorated but you notice several spears on an antique shield on the wall behind the man.

K’lahu : Taban, I've come to collect the debt. You was not as cooperative last time so I brought a company. These foreigners are expert at motivating people to cooperate, but their treatment could be rather unpleasant. You have a chance to bypass their treatment if you feel motivated already

Taban: I was expecting you... You remind me a Tabaxi minstrel. I don't like how you talk. I don't have a gold for you.
You know I earn money fighting. Your company don't look like one.

He looks unimpressed and sips tej, ...
But Ha'aroo, Pacan and Jim see that man is tense and watches you carefully.

Please also describe what armor/weapons your PC wear at the moment. Do you hold weapons in the arms, do you have shields done?

Pacan stands just behind and to one side of K'lahu, one hand holding the end of her quarterstaff that she uses as a walking stick throughout the city. She hadn't been expecting any kind of a fight and her leather armor had been hot, so she left it back at the House of Repose, choosing instead to only wear the flowy clothes her family had provided. For the moment, she says nothing, eager to see how K'lahu - and her compatriots - react to the man's challenge.
Apr 10, 2022 2:58 pm
Ha'aroo is wearing his leather armor as he is still cautious in a new city until he knows a city is safe. He usually just carries his dagger but since there was a possibility of fighting a gladiator he made sure to bring his sword.

Ha'aroo has his palm out in a defensive manner. On closer inspection it looks as if Ha'aroo's hand had been cut as a bit of blood trailed down one finger (this is for roleplay flavor)

"If you owe this man money its good to pay back what you owe. Do you have a fight coming up? Maybe if K'lahu gets paid directly from the arena you wont have to fight right now without getting paid. What do both of you say? Maybe K'lahu keeps some collateral and gets paid from your fights directly from the arena until your debt has been paid? We dont want you to be too hurt to fight right?" Ha'aroo raises his eyebrows on the last statement as if to say 'dont make us beat you down'

'im sure the people of the city would like to see you in the arena today"

Ha'aroo looks to the group to see if that sounds reasonable. "Im sure between the armor, weapons ..." Ha'aroo looks around the house to see what can be collateral. Heck even the deed to this house would be sufficient to make sure the debt is paid in full if you truly dont have the money on you right now." Ha'aroo watches closely to see if he is lying about not having the money to pay.

Probably I need to state it somewhere in other threads, but here is my DM interpretation:
When a player cast spell with verbal component I assume he does so aloud and clear. It would usually mean you give up your location while hiding or behind total cover. In this instance you only give up the fact that you cast the spell. And only because I assume that person have seen the spell cast by other clerics

Most spells require the chanting of mystic words.
It will technically not affect anything, but NPC role play, so I assume this is good moment to show it in action

Question in regards to this. So spells can not be whispered or its assumed they are not whispered unless stated otherwise? Also for the mystic words can they be regular words or are they all just words in a sort of magic language? Im thinking like healing word the "Up" in "get Up" could be the word. Or visious mockery things like "Your mother smells like a goblin" or something could be the spell components. Or is the vocal componets more mystical like "shamala", "alakazam" ... Etc?

You all enter the room which is almost 20x30 feet large and have plenty of room for al of you
Room seems to work as kitchen and living room all together as you see a shelf with a bread and vegetables in the corner. There are stairs on the second floor and trapdoors under stairs - appears there is a basement. Nothing indicate that a man is poor.
When Nebula cast mage hand and shake coin purse on the gladiator's belt. You all hear sound of coins - there should be at least a dozen coins in the purse.
Gladiator don't seem to impressed by any of your words. He takes his coin purse off the belt and put somewhere under the table - you can't see because there are some chests under the table.
Taban: Oh I see, you brought some spell casters this time. I'm not impressed! I need this money to eat. If I don't eat I can't fight. If I can't fight I can earn money, can't return my debt! So get out of my house if you want to get your money ever.
K’lahu: You lie. I know about you everything. You are saving money for jungle expedition. You hope find riches. You are fool, you will die in the jungles. If you die who will pay your dept?! Return your debt and then go kill yourself in jungles!
Taban: I said get out. Next pick a real man in your company ; not chickens like those. Then we talk.
You a shield done on Taban left arm as he rise. It appears he have been hiding another shield under the table and used time to done it. There are multiple spears on the wall behind him, but he is not yet touching any of them.
OOC:
Done a shield requires an action

K’lahu turn to your group: Well I guess it is time for you to earn your money. Unless you agree with Taban.
OOC:
Gladiator seems arrogant and angry, but not yet directly aggressive. K’lahu suggest to "initiate a combat" and beat him up.
Please this time do roll initiative and describe your PC location in the room and optionally one more non-combat action. Combat actions will be in turn order, because it looks like you will hardly solve this quest without fighting. Without fight you could but retreat.
Your PC location is either front- line (middle of the room) or somewhere behind.
K’lahu is in the middle of the room (front line)

Ha'aroo stands in the back and starts spreading out among the others in the back row.

"Friend you are not being honest. If you owe this man money, then the money does not belong to you. You do not want to mess with us. You dont know what we are capable of. A mighty glatiator against a mighty glatiator could be an equal fight but a mighty glatiator against a mighty glatiator plus allies wont be good for you." Ha'aroo indicates there is a glatiator among them while inspiring Travers with bardic inspiration as he has his allies that has his back.

Pacan sighs as the man decided to take the path of testing them. Drawing in a heavy breath she flexes one hand, feeling the land's magic course through her. Rapidly, her body shifts, her stick and gown seeming to melt as her body twists, hunches, and thick brown hair begins to grow out. She stretches high up on her back paws as her transformation into a large brown bear. With a quick dash forward she closes the gap to end up next to the gladiator, taking a swipe at him.

K’lahu: Very impressive fighting! He didn't even had time to give up he picks up his mace and go check Taban. Continue talking as he takes the money stash from under the table and discover it is full of copper. Then he untie Taban's leather armour front side and soon find a stash beneath leather. He is talking as he is doing this all: You "negotiation practice" is questionable however. Haven't seen anyone taking the corners and far wall while intimidating. I was really certain everyone but your half orc is really afraid of the man.

Out of pouch he spills on the table 10 gemstones. How convenient, Taban, looks like you were indeed expecting me! He collects them back and put 50 gold pieces on the table. Job is done nevertheless. This is your money as agreed. It was impressive!
And he leaves

"He can fight well" Nebula comments, slightly defensive over the actual of being scared. Whether she was or not, she'd never tell.

"This should be enough for a few more nights partying, or for a healthy supply of spell materials"

When the man falls, Pacan let's the wild magics fade from her frame, shifting back into her normal elven form.

What a pity that he wouldn't see reason. Perhaps he will reconsider behaving that way in the future. she says as she slips her coins into her pouch of cash. I think a good meal is in order!
Apr 15, 2022 1:08 pm
Ha'aroo looks over the group to make sure everyone is ok and then walks over to Taban and checks his pulse. After confirmation he picks up his 10 gold and says "I think you are right a good meal sounds like an excellent idea. Is there any place in mind you would like to go Pacan? What would you guys like to do?"

He has pocketed away his ten gold. He is sure that he doesn't want to see this gladiator again. Tomorrow he can heal up.

Well, I haven't done much culinary exploration yet. I'd be very happy to wander the Red Bazaar and find any little local food stands. Get a keg of tej and just sit out under some awning and people watch a little bit. Possibly a minstral show! she says, becoming more and more excited by the prospect of feeling like a local while being blissfully unaware that such a plan is not how locals live at all.
Apr 15, 2022 6:15 pm
you are certain Taban is just KO. He will come back conscious in a few hours. So unless anyone magically heal him ir stay sever hours until he come back you could do anything in his house an have other half of the day as usual. Bar crawl, city walk or you could pick any one of the locations and visit that location
Apr 15, 2022 6:29 pm
Ha'aroo looks to Pecan "I think that sounds like a great idea. I havent had any other food here yet besides what they serve in the inn. And didnt someone here say they have dinosaur meat for sale at the Red Bazaar? That might be interesting to try." Ha'aroo will follow whoever is heading out to find some good food and relax for a bit. Ha'aroo strokes his chin and stares off to nowhere as he wonders what type of ways they cook dinosaur here, (Hmm maybe dinocobobs, deep fried dino, a dino burger mmmm)

"I hope that meat isn't from the losers on the race track" Nebula says glumly, but her stomach does rumble - a meal would indeed be good.

"Oh! I'd love a good show!" She claps as pacan mentions the possibility of a minstrel."And some dancing!"

OOC:
OK, let me Narrate the result of your last 24 hour posts and move on
Party leave Taban unconscious at his house but do not touch any of this belongings. They return to the Inns to refill their water and check the Red Bazar just next to the inns for dinosaur meat. After short inquiry they figure out the meat is usually sold in bigger chunks and the Inns they stay at are among those who buy the meat.
You actually recall that the meals never included any other meat but dinosaur. Dinosaur meat is cheaper than other types of meat here and you have to pay extra at Inns to eat non dinosaur meat.

You stay the few hottest hours of mid-day in the Inn
OOC:
Everyone could take short rest and Nebula could cast Find Familiar before we move on the the second part of a day
What do you do this afternoon - you have roughly 4 hours before night life begins and all other places (like churches and stores) closes.
I would suggest everyone to pick one of the 23 places in the city except Red Bazar as it is where your Inns are and check for random events/quests in those locations. Or just stay in the inn if you are not interested in those
Apr 16, 2022 10:14 am
You also learn about following performances planned at your inns tonight:
The Thundering Lizard: several bands of street musicians will play dancing music and there will be a dancing competition - you should not expect to be able go sleep before midnight
Kaya’s House of Repose - the most famous Violin player will be preforming tonight, inn is expected to be crowded with important people
Apr 16, 2022 11:38 am
After lunch and the hottest part of the day passes Travers stands and announces "I'm going to have a look at the Grand Coliseum and perhaps the temple nearby this afternoon if anyone wishes to join me. before heading outside to ask someone for directions.
Apr 16, 2022 1:29 pm
After a short siesta and a summoning session, A small brown weasel pops into existence on her shoulder. It nuzzles into her neck.

"I would like to visit the Dye Works. I'm interested in how they get such vivid colours!"
Apr 16, 2022 1:52 pm
I think I may just head out to the Jewel Market, I'm interested to see what kinds of gems they have, possibly try to find something for my mother there. Just a small thing, really. she says, ready to head out. If anyone else shows interest in joining her, she won't object but she also isn't waiting super long.
Apr 16, 2022 2:18 pm
Ha'aroo thinks for a moment. "Hmm I do want to check out and Jewel Market as I have been looking for a type of pearl but it might be fun to check out the colosseum. Ill join you Travers if you do not mind"
Ha'aroo will join Travers
Apr 16, 2022 4:53 pm
Jim says to Pacan and Nebula, How about a fast run down to the Jewel Market. We don't really have time to explore it all, but quick look would be nice and then head over to the Dye Works. On this trio, who know we might be dressed in color with jewelry before we are done.

OOC:

Let me know if I misread anything but this is what I see happening:
Travers and Ha'aroo Jassan 20. Grand Coliseum
Pacan Lathalas: 10. Jewel Market
Jim Corman and Nebula: 23. Dye Works
Pacan spend very pleasant day in Jewel Market - for the change it is not as crowded as the streets of the city and he discover some proof to the so-called death curse. He see some rich people walking around weak and with pale. They are selling their Jewelry and Jewel price is dropping.
Coliseum

Travers and Ha'aroo Jassan what qualifying matches and figure out that championship will take place on this tenday days 8 through 10 - just after their planned departure

Omala

Jim Corman and Nebula meanwhile visiting Dye Works and finds an advert by Omala - a master colorist at the dye works who would allow any tourists to see and even participating in coloring process at a special price or even for free if visitors buy anything. Interested in the details two of them visit Omala to discover him in a very stressed mood. When questioned he shares following:

Omala recently bought some dancing monkey fruit on the black market and used them to make and sell dye. Shortly thereafter, he received an iron token from the Ytepka Society—a grim warning. He wishes to atone for his crime and seeks an audience with Kwayothé, the merchant prince who controls the legal sale of fruit. Fearing for his life, Omala would not dare to visit Kwayothé alone (location - "4. Goldenthrone"). But asking merchant price forgiveness is the only way to maintain his business.
Nevertheless he has no money to offer the characters as a reward

Apr 17, 2022 2:04 pm
"I think we can help with that, right Jim?" Nebula asks, feeling kind and a strong believer in second chances. "Maybe you could give us the full tour and we'll try secure you an audience? That sounds fair to me!"
Apr 17, 2022 7:20 pm
Jim adds in I don't see why not. Let us help Omala. May we go now or is there a better time?
Apr 17, 2022 8:18 pm
Pacan looks specifically for any kind of a peridot or emerald that she could acquire for her mother, something in the five to ten gold range. She knows anything she finds will be pretty small, but is sticking with her budget. She also keeps her ears peeled for any rumors of where she may be able to acquire gems in the wild.
Apr 18, 2022 7:54 am
As they explore around the Colosseum and find out about the qualifying matches Travers will turn to Ha'aroo "it's a Shane we're leaving just before this starts, I might not stand a chance but would have been nice to try"
Apr 18, 2022 8:24 am
OOC:
if you are to help Omala you will have to spend another half day on that tomorrow, because it is not as easy to secure appointment with merchant prince.
Alternatively you may try to do that tonight. If you roll charisma check that is proportional to how good you explain your PC attempt yo secure time with merchant prince out of "visiting hours". Roll with advantage if two PCs cooperate on the task.

In any case - please everyone explain what your PCs doing tonight.
Apr 18, 2022 12:31 pm
Pacan will spend her evening back at the House of Repose, enjoying the violin music. Comfortable with these kinds of gatherings, thanks to her mother's position, she will drift through the crowd looking to pick up any potential tasks that may interest the group that could also result in her getting funding for a bigger gem for her mother.
Apr 18, 2022 1:06 pm
Ha'aroo turns to Travers and responds. Yeah you would do great in there! The way you took on Taban head on, and without any fear stood toe to toe with him. I hope I am able to see you fight again one day. ............... Well, as long as it is not against me howerever. That is one fight i would not want to experience. as Ha'aroo gives off a deep chuckle.

After a stroll with Travers and heading back to the inn. Ha'aroo looks for Nebula to see if she is going to join him in this dance competition. He the proceeds to gis room to secure his money and longsword and then signs up for the dance competition.

Jim will spend 2gp for some rather colorful extra scarf and a belt to go along with his current outfit for the area.

Jim is a touch reluctant to postpone dealing with the matter tonight but gives in and agrees tomorrow we will do what we can.

Although Jim is fairly nimble, he is not at all a dancer. Well in general Jim isn't athletic really and tends to stay on the sidelines when such might be required. That and the fact he isn't at all inciteful or really creative. So, without any real formal education on dancing, he isn't at all likely to try to spontaneously do it. He is more than glad to nurse along a good drink and watch.

He will let Nebula have that fun. He muses as he watches Ha'aroo join in the fun. Jim can also munch on any treats he picked up while traveling today. He has a habit of buying such and is an easy mark for such sellers. (Unsure if Travers is around. I'm sure Pacan is not.)

He will spend his evening at the Thundering Lizard, before retiring to Kaya’s House of Repose.

Upon the walk back to the taverns, Travers will respond to Ha'aroo "I'm glad the rest of you were there otherwise I reckon the outcome would have been much different"

Once they get back Travers joins some of the others in the thundering lizard for a drink deciding to sit with Jim and watch rather than dancing himself.

Pacan meet Rokan (male Chultan human ) who shares suspicions that pirates have formed an alliance with the Flaming Fist. Rokah has orders (he do not share the organization he works for though) to infiltrate Fort Beluarian and find proof of the fort’s commander being blackmailed. Rokah shares that he would be able to secure a charter of exploration (normally costs 50 gp) for a party that would help his with the task.

Nebula win the dance competition and gain a month long 50% discount for drinks and a diploma.
OOC:
You could add a Thundering Lizard best danced diploma to your inventory and remind me of this whenever you would be rolling any charisma check that could logically benefit your of PC being famous among locals. You just earned some fame among those presented in the Thundering Lizard tonight!
While drinking and celebrating the win you gather few more rumors
OOC:
I am rolling a few d100 for rumors, if they overlap with what you have got already - too bad
Two new rumors for you
If you head up the Tiryki River about five days by canoe, you’ll see a stone spire to the east. Natives call it Firefinger. "Terror folk" nest there, and if they spot you, you’re in for a fight.

The great god Ubtao loved mazes. If you happen upon a maze of any kind, trace a path through it. You will earn Ubtao’s favor by doing so.

Death curse rumors
There are even more talking about the death curse and the effect to jewelry market is has caused.
Rich people who lived risky lives and considering death not lethal thanks to resurrection spell... rumors of stress among those people.

Ha'aroo sits back down after exhausted from all the dancing while watching Nebula still go at it.

After the competition is over he greets her, "Wow tgat was amazing! Where did you learn that? It was spectacular! Please you have to teach me those dance moves one of these days!"

After the nights rest and having breakfast with Nibula (Im assuming she tells him of her adventures as he tells her about the colosseum.) Ha'aroo says "we should probably check that out after seeing what Syndra needs."

He will then meet up with the others at the other inn before making his way to Syndra

Nebula follows Ha'aroo after breakfast. They would need to follow up with the dye maker later, it wouldn't do to upset Syndra, who had helped them all find their way here
