Chapter 2

Pacan keeps her face composed, barely, at the man's absolute incompetence at authority as they walk out of the camp.

If the hope was to give lifted spirits, issuing blind orders and making outrageous demands is not a good foot to start with. I wish you all the luck with the undead threat. Make sure to burn the bodies after, much harder to rise from ashes than corpses. Pacan says as they look to leave.
OOC:
Definitely good to leave. Pacan wouldn't spend another minute in the camp trying to restock with the way they were treated. She'd rather forage and possibly suffer than spend any more energy on Niles and his buffoonery.
May 31, 2022 6:18 am
OOC:
Boop says:
unless there's some opportunity to restock?
There are no market in the camp, but certain NPCs could be up to a deal or two, especially if the deal beneficial to them. But you need to Talk to a proper NPC. I bet you guess who is the wrong NPC to try to deal with.
Nevertheless I feel like we got stuck in story and will proceed
Undril says goodbye. I do not hurry to judge Niles Breakbone, just I don't judge you for plundering templar of Order of the Gauntlet you found in Latrines. I don't mean to educate you, but share my observation: being a half-orc with no power or wealth I've learned one lesson: people will not respect you, no matter what you say until do something good to them. Especially those devoted their lives to do good to others.
I guess Ord Firebeard wouldn't protect my position should I not heal his soldiers beforehand

Ord Firebeard, who is ensuring you leave camp hear that and can't disagree. "I guess the conversation could have ended different. But I am happy Niles Breakbone agreed to withdraw his unfounded demand for you to join the garrison. Treat this a good sign and let gods help you in these savage lands"

You leave the camp and move a mile away from it. The night is quite except for dinosaur roars you hear far away in the direction of the camp Vengeance.

Day 27. Morning.
You wake up next morning. It is raining heavy, but it is not a storm you have experienced once.
OOC:
Visibility is limited to some 500 foots, but it has no mechanical impact while in the jungles as you can't see even this much through the jungles.
EVERY ONE - Level Up!!! Your PCs are now lvl 3. Completing the side quest of helping Undril to get to the camp Vengeance was a checkpoint
According to the map jungle territory should change to plains if you follow river Soshernstar to the south, but there is an abandoned city of Mbala approximately to the south west. Undead territory stay to the South-East . All north directions seems to be endless jungles, free of undead.
OOC:
Please do your lvl up and vote/decide on direction/plan of your further travel. As far as I understand Jim is navigating again. Note that I will allow Haaroo to help Jim navigating rolling survival with advantage once you spend your first 30 days travelling and get used enough to both environment and each other
May 31, 2022 10:54 am
OOC:
I vote Mbala? I think maybe we are not ready to go into the depths of the undead yet
May 31, 2022 11:37 am
OOC:
I second the vote on Mbala. Yeah, Jim can't turn undead yet.
May 31, 2022 11:52 am
OOC:
Rolling routine rolls for day 27-29. Will provide narrative after voting

I vote to go west of Mbala. Travers and Sharagwyn Sagelight you said "Speak to the wise guardian of Orolunga, west of Mbala. She can direct you to that which you seek." Right?
OOC:
Would Ord be willing to take some of the undead swords for some arrows, magic ink and paper wizards need for entering spells in spell book (incase there is any wizards in their group that has some paper to trade), potions, gold, notes on things we dont know about the local area? That is of course if the group is ok with trading some of the swords we collected.

Quote:
Would Ord be willing to
Ord is more than interested buying arrows as they are running out of them. They have enough of the swords of dead colleagues already. No wizards either.
As for information on the area ... he say scouts would have some information, but they are all out of the camp hunting food. And you have to be going unfortunately.
May 31, 2022 9:14 pm
"That is quite right, and the only thing we are seeking is the Soulmonger," Shara says to Ha'aroo. "Such ramblings are starting to make more sense now. As such, I also vote for Mbala to be our destination."

Day 29. Night.
Party vote to move toward Mbala , but first two days Jim spend waling in circles only third day he manages to figure out are not too far way from the camp Vengeance
https://i.imgur.com/E3fXX2y.png

During the night, when Pacan + Sharagwyn is on guard two of you hear dinosaur roaring coming close to the camp. You don't see them yet, but could assume they see you in the light of bonfire.

Soon you hear creatures approaching.
OOC:
Let's say you are aware of 2 creature locations 120 feet away and more of them are too far to yet to dustinguish but on wisdom( perception) roll DC 15 I will give you count of the creatures
What do two of you do?

OOC:

Rule: If player fails to answer in 20 hours it could be assumed PC is passive ... this time without major drawbacks
Pacan & Sharagwyn choose to ignore dinosours. They watch few smaller dinos come closed but a larger one comes and looks like it makes sure smaller ones move other way. And the night ends without any issues

Day 30.
Moving toward Mbala continues, but when you only make few miles you spot 2 allosaurus 100 yards away when the characters first notice. You have seen them before and know these are predators and you understand they are dashing your way. We will do a battle encounter now using theatre of the mind, i.e. assume you and your mules are all more or less together, but Allosaurs 300 feet away.
OOC:
Everyone Roll initiative! AND then announce your first round turn (action, movement, ba).
Allosaurs on their turn will dash your way covering 120 feet and be within 180 feet from where you are at the beginning of the battle. You could move forward of backward reducing or increasing that distance or stay where you are.
Based on your initiative roll you will know distance to the enemy by your turn. Ask me if anything is unclear.

Ha'aroo casts speak with animals and then says "We should probably back up"

Ha'aroo would like to start backing up but would like to remain in the front line of the group if everyone also backs up.

Nebula moves back too and looks at the others for how they're approaching the oncoming beasts. For now, noone seemed to be slinging any bolts or arrows.

She puts her hand to the ground, saying some arcane words and it begins to tremble. She hoped it might serve to deter the beasts as they got nearer.

OOC:
I've "resolved" turn of everyone with initiative higher than enemy, Sharagwyn could change first round turn if desire, everyone else submit your second round turns
Sharagwyn were lost in her thoughts when Allosaurs attack, while Ha'aroo try to get her attention and start backing, Pacan stay with them and only Nebula moves 30 feet back, now everyone seem to agree that they need to back.
OOC:
Travers will move 30 feet back and dodge unless player shows up
order nameinitiative Location before turn status
1 Sharagwyn Sagelight 2 starting position -
2Travers 15 starting position dodge
3Pacan Lathalas 13 starting position -
4Nebula 12 30 feet back Thaumaturgy
5Ha'aroo Jassan 12 starting position Guidance
6Jim Corman 11 starting position -
7Allosaurs 7 180 feet from starting position (210 from those backing) dashing franzy
OOC:
Waiting for everyone's turn. If you have any questions about the table or why Sharagwyn is first in order or anything - I'm open to explain it in ooc chat

Jim puts on his shield and has his longsword in hand. He looks for a spot where he can be right in front of his mule as to protect it from becoming a meal. He says as he is doing this, When they get closer I will color them up and try to make it easier to strike them. Again he will put guidance on Ha'aroo if he didn't use the first guidance.

Sorry, I totally forgot to ask about mules? Who has mules? I assume those PCs who has them have one arm occupied holding a rope, but mules will be moving together with you, especially if you are backing as they re quite afraid of the predators
Just keep n mind you only have one free hand: can't use two handed weapon and can't hold anything in other hand if you want to cast somatic spells
And ... predators may choose to eat mules...
Jun 2, 2022 5:32 pm
OOC:
Arnt we all backing up together? I guess its just a little weird since last time with the apes you ruled that the thameturgy drowned out Ha'aroo's voice stating everything is happening during the same 6 seconds but walking back together its all about the initiative order. If i cast a spell that requires the enemy to hear will the thamaturgy that was cast drown it out since it is the same 6 seconds or will it work since one persons initiative is resolved before the next persons initiative?
Ha'aroo sees Pecan's smile and says "you want the lead or shall I?" Ha'aroo backs up 30 feet to rejoin the rest of his group. He looks at the donkey and says with a smile and confidence in his voice "stay behind us" as he nods back to where Nebula is and lets go of the rope.

He takes out his short bow and launches an arrow at the furthest away from himself (im imagining if Ha'aroo is at the front right he is firing at the left one.)

Movement: back up 30 ft
Bonus action: bardic inspiration to Pecan
Action: fire shortbow
