The Meeting at Deepnight

Merana eyed the merchant up and down and rose up, trying to look casual. As she drew close and presented her back she thumbed the pin hoping one swift gesture would be sufficient.

Perhaps you’d like a box or maybe your friend can get on his knees and you can sit on his shoulders?

"Hey! No tickling! So unprofessional! I'm clearly taller than you, see? Now, onto business! You're clearly here because you want what I have. I assume you have my fee, yeah?
The Seller

The fuggler produces a big leather pouch from under his coat which he casually swings back and forth like a pendulum, somewhat impatiently.
Jul 17, 2022 5:15 pm
Gazza wanders over to stand next to the seller's heavies. He gives them a friendly nod as one professional to others.

"I like the 'no fuss, no muss' ones. You fellas being doing this long?"

He scratches his beard as though thinking of something to say.

"'ere you don't know if any nobles came by here? Only we found a pin - it looks valuable - I thought someone might have dropped it.

I thought about keeping it, but I'm trying out religion for a bit. Y'know a bit of honesty to try and get some gods credit for all the..."

Gazza runs a thumb across his throat with a crrrrk sound.

"I figure returning a valuable brooch thing to the rightful owner has to be worth a drunken stabbing or two. Right?"

If Gazza was hoping to come across as friendly then he's going to be disappointed, as he just gives the impression of being a bit of nutter. Which he is.

Aye what thee lad here said. I’ve got thy fee but you seem proper unsettled. Merana spoke tapping the bag of ‘diamonds’ on her belt and trying the correct accent. Are you sure thee have got thee proper goods ‘ere?

Moi mate here is proper right though. Proper valuable looking pin and it might have been from thee noble or someone important like ye. Sets thy eyes off proper well. Proper handsome. I’d be happy to give it to you too if you would like. It’s hard to find a proper correct looking adventurer here too.

I used to hear stories of adventurers as a girl and I was so disappointed when I came and they were all proper ugly but you fit the picture. And let’s face it, thee must have been very brave to get that ‘ye know what’ and get it all the way here.
OOC:
Maybe fluttering eyelash will work 😂. Sorry Adam I don’t think I am good at writing that voice style.

Never apologize, bad accents are the most fun of all.

The Seller

The Seller begins to stammer, as the least he expected was to be courted.
"I... You... Well..."
You notice that he begins to blush and his goons begin to snicker. The blushing turns into a full on red face, as he says "excuse me for a second" and abruptly turns and kicks the two men behind him in the shins.

"Now, what were we talking about before we were so impolitely disturbed? Right, right. I'm rather busy today, with our fortunate meeting, but perhaps we can arrange a more pleasant meeting sometime? A less crowded one perhaps? I'd be honored to wear this token of yours, in fact I'll wear it now until we meet again."

His sleaziness is palpable, but hey - whatever it takes to get the job done, right?

The Seller takes a step forward and all proud with himself for scoring a deal as well as a date, offers his chest for you to place the tracking pin on. As soon as you do so, he extends his hands to you - one holding the big leather pouch, the other expecting to receive your "diamonds".

"Am really looking forward to be meeting you again. Now, we'll be on our way..."

Thug

The toll for passage out of this barn is that egg. I’m sure you will hand it over peacefully so I don’t have to take your lives instead."

The little display of courtship and pleasantries comes to an abrupt end, as a
party a husky half orc and two humans burst into the barn.

The Seller

"Bloody Welcomers! Sorry love, gotta scram."

As he finishes his sentence, the Seller knocks the big pouch down hard; with a big flash and a lesser bang, the "egg" explodes and chaos ensues. The Seller and his goons, knowing the true nature of the "egg" are prepared and exit the barn through a hidden back door as the rest of the barn occupants scramble to regain their sight.

Baddies are up first then it's you; you all roll a DC 13 Constitution check, to see if you recover from the flash bang this round. Nifty floating battle map at the bottom.

it can happen if the site's lagging and you press/click post again. Sadly for you, the etiquette I was taught dictates that the first post is the one that counts.
Everyone but Gazza - who was daydreaming of ale and kebabs, is stumbling around trying to regain their sight. The Welcomers' formation is no more and they're scattered around.
OOC:
Go Gazza go! I assume you know this, but you roll your attacks with advantage.

edit: I'll be updating the floatbox, let me know how that's working out.

Gazza lands a staggering blow at the thug and a lesser - yet effective smack on the bandit.

The egg acted as a flash bang, so its effects aren't permanent. Baddies are up. Bandit no.2 moves to AC10 and shoots an arrow with great gusto at Merana with his light crossbow. Bandit no.1 rapidly unsheathes his scimitar and slashes at Gazza. Gazza is also at the receiving end of two mace attacks from the Thug.
OOC:
Thug's attacks are at advantage due to Pack Tactics. Blame yourself Adam.
The arrow zooms past Merana's head and hits a nearby post; the initial attack from the bandit scrapes Gazza's armor and the Thug's mace misses them by an inch; the follow up mace swing smashes Gazza's shoulder though.

Merana's arrow left her bow so fast, that the Bandit didn't even get the chance to react.
"Gurglblgl!..."
As the arrow pierced the Bandit's throat, he begun chocking in his own blood, gurgling incoherently.

Gazza's warhammer meets Thug's face. Thug's face not so pleased with making said acquaintance.

Blood and a sole tooth are spewed at Gazza's direction, making him lose his second target out of excitement.

As Gazza's attention shifts to the bandit adjacent to him, the Thug decides it would be a good time to disengage and back away towards the door.

The two bandits, watching their Thug in charge back away turn and attack Gazza and Merana; they preferred to clash with these adventurers than meet the Thug's mace up in person.
