"How wonderful!" Aravel exclaimed unironically.
"Such an individual may have a wealth of knowledge on the ancient elven civilization I seek."
Aug 23, 2022 1:48 am
"Yes, undoubtedly. And while you're chatting about history, perhaps you could also ask them nicely to stop enslaving the local populace? I'm sure they won't mind."
Aug 23, 2022 11:17 am
"Hmmmm?" Aravel looked up, distracted from his musings on the line of questioning he would employ.
"Well I'm sure we can come to some form of arrangement."
Aug 23, 2022 5:06 pm
Melianne ignores the conversation about ancient civilizations and undead evil, and focuses solely on assisting the archeologists - checking them for wounds and searching her satchel for herbs which would bring them back to conscious world.

Korsak grunts and takes a few, deep breaths with his eyes closed.
I only ever heard one voice... he says slowly in response to Melianne's question...but yes I think it was her. On a positive note I think her influence on the camp is broken. At least for now. This transport wasn't a carefully calculated plan but a panic reaction.
He stretches a bit and produces a crystal from behind the belt that holds together his robe. He mutters Luminos and the crystal lights up.
I'm fine I think. How are Astrid and Hjalmar?

Melianne checks both of them. While she is very concerned about them and very keen to help she is no doctor. She can only see that both are breathing and don't seem to be wounded. She rubs their temples with sage from her pouch and holds it under their noses but they don't wake up
She lays both down in a way that is as comfortably as possible on a stone floor. That's all she can do for the moment. Hopefully they'll be fine.

While Melianne treats the two archeologists Korsak talks to the others
I think we need to explore this buidling. If we wait here we will be doomed either by starvation or by the being that brought us here. If the being is a competent mage practitioner she may have some of her tools lying around here. Maybe even something that gets us out here again.

He watches as Melianne moves the archeologists into a more comfortable position.
Don't worry if they don't wake up yet. I will watch over them until they do. he calmly states
Aug 29, 2022 7:04 pm
While you decide on what to do you hear a rattling sound echoing through the corridor in front of the cell. It starts faintly but seems to grow louder
Aug 30, 2022 10:29 pm
Krenmuth whispers, "Does anyone have a mirror to look around the corner?"
Aug 31, 2022 5:06 pm
"Alright..." Melianne sighs quietly in response to Korsak, but seems hesitant to pull away from the unconscious archeologists as long as no one else makes a move to leave the cells. It's only when Krenmuth speaks up that the dancer finally leaves their side, after carefully brushing away Hjalmar's hair from his face and whispering something which is probably a wish for protection and good luck.

"I have one," once standing, she reaches into her satchel and produces an ornate steel mirror which she then hands over to the Wavewarden. "Do you want me to keep the lights? I can also try to detect magic, although I'm not sure if it would be useful with so many sources of it around."

"Thank you. Save the Detect Magic spell. I need the lights placed at ceiling level and in the other corridor." Krenmuth holds the mirror with his left hand and angles it around the corner. He holds his war hammer in his right hand in case a foe needs bludgeoning.
Sep 2, 2022 10:05 am
Krenmuth peeks around the corner with the mirror.

To the left and right side of the corridor are more cells. At the far end is a double door. One wing is missing and the other is being opened by.... skeletons! With slow scuffling steps they advance towards your cell.
Krenmuth isn't sure how many there are exactly but there are at least six of them. They wear rusted chainmail and are armed with spears and swords.
It won't be long until they reach your cell...
OOC:
I'm currently traveling but I'll provide a map when I get home
Sep 8, 2022 3:24 am
Melianne is about to direct the lights to rise above them when she hears the footsteps and stills mid-motion. "What is this?" She whispers anxiously to Krenmuth, one of her hands automatically moving to her rapier. "Is someone coming?"
Sep 9, 2022 5:50 pm
"Skeletons. I see at least six. I’ll hit hit the first one that rounds the corner." Krenmuth readies his war hammer.
Sep 10, 2022 1:22 pm
You hear the rattling sound of bones and metal as the skeletons lurch forward. Krenmuth readies his warhammer. And is ready to jump forwards
OOC:
Krenmuth and Melianne both get a surprise attack. After everyone roll for initiative and act when its your turn.
Does anyone want to run forward or do you want to defend in your cell?
Sorry for keeping you waitnig that long. Work was pretty busy and my brain was empty when I came home

Ouch. Killer initiative roll from the skeletons

Annika is still glaring daggers at Aravel when the skeletons hove into view. Seeing an outlet for her frustrations, she leaps at the opportunity.

Initiative - (1d20)

(11) = 11

Melianne follows Krenmuth's example and quickly draws her rapier, striking at the first undead in her line of sight. She is planning to pull back and focus on her magic afterwards, to leave the place at the choke point of cell doors to someone else - so hopefully she can avoid getting skewered until then.
OOC:
A question in advance: how great is the light from Korsak's crystal? If I drop my light spell, will the skeletons still be visible?

Rolls

Rapier Attack (piercing) - (1d20+4, 1d8+2)

1d20+4 : (17) + 4 = 21

1d8+2 : (8) + 2 = 10

OOC:
Rolling initiative for @Dramasailor to get things moving

Rolls

Initiative - (1d20+1)

(9) + 1 = 10

Krenmuth runs his warhammer into the chest of the first skeleton he sees. He can hear a crunching sound underneath the rusted chainmail it's wearing and some ribs fall down on the ground.
Melianne meanwhile stabs her rapier at the second skeleton in front of the door. She hits the jaw bone and sends it flying to the opposite side of the corridor.

The skeletons in turn try to charge into the room but are held back by the cleric and the bard. The first two stab at Melianne and Krenmuth while the three skeleton behind them draw small crossbows and shower the group with bolts...

Krenmuth is hit hard by the sword of his opponent. Two bolts hit too with one of them hitting Aravel and the other one grazing Annika

With the fight beginning you hear the clanking and rattling sounds of the skeletons but somehow you think you hear a very loud but regular clanking sound from further down the corridor
OOC:
Krenmuth takes 9 damage, Aravel 8 damage and Annika takes 3 damage
You all may act now

Initiative order
Skeletons - 22
Melianne - 21
Annika - 19
Krenmuth - 11
Tharadin - 10
Aravel - 6

FlyingSucculent says:
OOC:
A question in advance: how great is the light from Korsak's crystal? If I drop my light spell, will the skeletons still be visible?
OOC:
Korsak's light is bright enough to illuminate the cell and the corridor. So there is no problem in dropping the spell

"Melianne! Stay behind me." Annika pushes past the dancer to engage the skeletons, drawing her rapier and hand crossbow and lunging to attack.

I'm hoping it's okay if we coordinate our movements in these very tight confines.
