OK I have 1 still in theri intro 4 newcomers who are working on finishing up their characters
@ImperfectBeing Trod is well into his intro mission but has not set a preferred posting rate yet
@Lord_Morane has yet to submit his character, again due to holiday chaos, or set his posting preferences
@Thunder_Lungz,@Bunt I will craft an intro to work the tow of you together
@zstix I can put Gus with the other 2 for now or pull you in with Trod who was going pretty much daily before the holiday chaos. Please let me know if you have a prefference.

I review all the characters and get something for Oliver and Gringeltch and try to leave an open hook for Gus to join there or into Trod's story tomorrow.

Sounds great! Thanks!

I guess it might be nice to start with the other two folks who are just getting started, but I'm pretty flexible. If there's a new (to Gus) culture, obscure plant/animal, or just a rumor of a locked away recipe, my character has plenty to work with hook-wise.

I like the overlap between these three characters. An artifact seeker, an ingredient & recipe seeker (cook), and another ingredient & recipe seeker (alchemist). Not to mention that Duendes seem to be popular.

I had a DM a while ago who had a thing against calling smaller characters "Halflings" and though that is what I unusually called them in games growing up agreed with the idea that they likely do not call themselves that. Not wanting to go with Hobbit or Kender I decided on Duende as another folk of myth. My guess it people like the small cheerful people, and the life saving trait they have :)

I can see Agility being a pretty heavy pull. Its heritage-specific trait that can't be otherwise acquired. I can't remember if your Duende take the same HP hit as the BTB Goblins do.

Well, in peruvian folklore Duendes are devilish creatures who lure unbaptized children into the forest (yeah, that's exactly how the myth goes). Guess their playful version definitely comes from somewhere else.

LoL, that is probably my fault. I remembered they were smaller and mixed them in with elves and pixies and what not

Does anybody know how to call this in English?

In Spanish it's called "estólica" or "propulsor", and it is some kind of arrow/dart thrower, not too different from the one you could use to play fetch with your dog.

Re: Duende
I did a quick Google image search because I hadn't heard the term before and thought "Yeah, I could happily play one of those"

An atlatl is a javelin or dart launcher and looks very similar and seems to have the same function.

LOL, you really have to be more specific than that. Which of these two made you say that?:

Just to clarify the Duende people of my world range from 2 - 4 feet in heigh. This is just to keep them small but not tiny. And yes, Duende have fewer HP to start with.

OOF, yes! That's exactly it! Thanks! I've been looking for that name for quite some time ("spear-thrower" sounds so lame).

I had more of the 2nd elfin image in my mind originally. However the Duende people cover several types and some have played goblins that resemble the 1st with claws and sharp teeth, while others were more like hobbits, and shome like Kender or Hin.

Yeah from my 2-minute research, I thought Duende looked like small goblins. I’ll have to reimagine my dude a little so he’s slightly more gnome/halfling-like.

I also like the idea of this trio of characters starting out. Sounds like a fun group!

Like I said, Duende is more of a classification. Like saying small humanoid from our perspective. A goblin like duende is just fine. Go with what you like/want. Do note that "Goblins" are usually considered to be on the more evil/malicious end of the Duende spectrum as they often served as scouts and scavengers during the Dawn War so have a bit of a bad rap. Many goblin tribes/clans are as peaceful as any other Duende though their sense of fun is a bit less happy skipping and singing songs.

Hah, definitely more the second. Plus a beard (generated my character avatar based off that idea).

Woohoo! Thanks!

Also, I’m making Grinfletch slightly more halfling-like to lean away from the goblin look. I’d prefer to be more similar to the other Duende folk and have some kinship to them.
