S1 E1 "Pilot" (RP)

At the edge of the empty lot Caroline's spell is cast with the completion of her symbols.

The spell reaches out, seeking Braddock......and finds him moving steadily toward Sweeney's squad car...

...another servant...too few spores left...closer now...then back to my 'lair'...

The camera gives us double vision as Caroline sees what Braddock sees as he closes in on Sweeney...

His location is clear as day to Caroline.

...who has holstered her gun and is running around the front of the car to get in the driver's seat.

Her hand reaches the handle, and if unimpeded she'll surely be able to open the door and get away...

The camera jumps back to Caroline, hanging in suspense waiting to see what she does...

Still rubbing her hurting eyes, Tereza stumbles outside after Sarah. She looks around and soon spots Jemma, so that's where she heads. Rather than look at the book, however, she leans over Mabel. "What did you do, Jem?" she asks. "These are just puppets. You should not hurt them. It is not their fault!"

Before she manages to overcome her squamishness and disgust enough to actually take a look at the wound, she notices movement, approaching them. "Alabaster?" she asks as she recognizes the small fey.

His taunting about giving her real power, the true nature of fey.stays at the forthront of her mind as she tries to find the rogue witch. If she could understand the source of his power, some of those secrets she could combat him, hold him off.

As she locates his mind she tries to get as much as she can before she realises where he is.

'Chief, watch out!' She yells as she darts to get an good angle. Through the rips and tears in the sleeve the camera sees tattoos of vi es around her arm that suddenly come to life, peeling of her skin to suddenly lash out again.

Spores, servants, Braddock thoughts, she could parese through it later. She needed to get Sweeney out, hold him off long enough.

'Not so young now, am I?' She tries to do her own taunting getting his attention on her as the vines return to her arms. 'You can't hide from me.'

Outside the Historical Society we see Tereza point out the small fey being to both Jemma and Sarah, who has exited the building at Tereza's side.

He hesitates for a moment, his magic enhanced eyes blinking, then scurries over to the three witches--he looks at Mabel with distaste.

"Treza, Carline send me to find talisman and give to this one," he says while motioning to Jemma--his voice his high but rumbly.

He blinks again looking at Sarah. "But Srah already has, yes? I see it glow from your pocket." He hustles over to Sarah and begins to climb her pant leg. "Give it to Jem, Srah," he says. "Give it to Jem."

Sarah, used to Alabaster's presence, removes the talisman from her pocket and gives it to Jemma.

At the snowy lot Caroline's spell lashes out again, thick bundle of vines swinging toward the invisible Braddock...

..."Hell my dear," he whispers like a creep at Sweeney just as the vines smash into him.

"Gah!" He pops back into the visible spectrum as he's flung from Sweeney's side and sent crashing into a nearby bus stop bench cover.

The whoosh of air from the vines startles Sweeney. She turns an' watches as Braddock smashes through the plexiglass.

She then turns to Caroline and gives the blonde witch a look of thanks and apology. "Shit," she says as she jumps in the squad car, turns the engine over and speeds off. Feeling like a coward, she smashes her radio on, and calls her dispatcher to connect her to Hadley.

Dark blood running down his scalp, Braddock picks himself up from the ground. He watches the cruiser speed off with an angry frown. He touches his Wounded head, fingers coming away bloodied.

He turns his to Caroline. "That. That was a mistake."

The camera shows his hands trace symbols in the air with unbelievable speed, then pulls back to show his shadow climb and wrap is body before shooting from his extended hands toward Caroline like a laser beam.The beam smashes into Caroline!

Relief as Sweeny gets away shows on Carolines face. She's too busy focusing on the car, not Braddock that she reacts to the attack too late. As the shadow hits her she fights its grip its influence, her face turning into a grimace.

As she shakes the effect she fixes Braddock with a glare. 'The mistake was you threatening my friend, my town.


The vines lash out again but her fatigue is starting to show, the attack missing.

She didn't have the tricks he did. That was Deacon's forte, not that she would ever admit to wanting her brother around right now. Still she wasn't about to back down now.

What is this? A talisman? Tell me what is going on Jemma is feeling like she has been dumped into the middle of an action movie without the initial build-up.

"I found it at the scene of the initial murder and picked it up thinking that it might be an important clue, then promptly forgot about it."

Sarah reaches out with her mind toward Braddock, hoping to distract him from his prey long enough to allow Caroline a moment to recover. "Hey, Treebeard! Wanna Play?" Using Taunt, backed with Empathy power.

I'm sorry Tereza, but it was about to attack me. Me!
I suspect that it would have turned me into a puppet as well. Jemma shutters as emotions and ramifications of taking a life, wars through her. Fay is causing death and terror in our town. They are after something, properly in that lost mansion. Where is Caroline? We need a plan.

Tereza doesn't argue with Jemma. She understands self-defense. But she continues to lean over Mabel, mostly ignoring the talisman exchange for the moment. "We need to heal her, get rid of infection, like you did with dog, Sarah. Then she needs the ambulance." Her heart is still racing as she suggests, "Sarah, if you are worn out from quick spellcasting, maybe we can do impromptu ritual, share the load of your healing."As she finishes saying that, she looks up at Sarah shouting a taunt at nobody in particular. It gives her a bad feeling. "What are you doing?" she asks nervously.

Sarah looks at Tereza, then at Mabel. "Okay, let's do it. I haven't the power left to do it on my own, but with the two of you sharing the load, maybe... " Sarah places her hands on Mabel's chest.

Wind blows across the parking lot of the Historical Society. The camera follows Andrej as he runs up toJemma, Sarah, Tereza, and Al.

We see his eyes go wide in horror at Mabel and her still smoking wound. "Hoooly shit," he exclaims.

Then his eyes fix on Al, who's still clinging to Sarah. "HOLY shit! What is going on here," he asks Tereza with panic clear in his voice.

"Is Al," the fey being butts in, in response to Andrej.

The small fey closes his hands around the edge of the talisman, like a racoon with medal. "Sra, use as focus for spell," he says to Sarah. "It wants power." To all the witches' eyes there is a slight glow to the talisman. "You see? It want it's power back. Like'a sponge."

Meanwhile, back at the empty lot Caroline continues to be engaged in a battle of spells with Braddock.

He falters a step as Caroline resists his attempt to stun her, the shadow beam 'shattering' into a million motes of anti-light.

He raises his hand and deflects the her third vine strike with a thunderclap of sound.

His skin pulses a faint green...The camera pans the lot, swirling around the combatants. "You're tired. I see it. Last chance. Give me the information I need or I rip from your feeble, untrained mind!" Spittle flies from his mouth on the last word.He traces fey symbols in the air as he slowly walks toward Caroline. Upon completion the air around him shimmers, and Caroline is hit with a wave of foreboding--it's clear to her that his ability to cast magic has just improved.

He awaits her reply...
