Earic Finnini

"Very good questions Mordacky. The elemental doesn’t keep it aloft, the soarwood does.". He pulls out the piece of soarwood from his pouch and demonstrates. The small chunk floats magically in front of him. He taps it and it begins to move through the air. He then taps it the other way and it does the same without falling. "See, the ship is made of this wonderful, yet very rare lumber. If it is not overloaded, the ship will stay aloft forever. This strange, windless land has allowed the Cyre to remain unmoved for two years."

Earic puts the soarwood piece away and listens to Kleber’s concerns about retrieving the General. "I’ll say that’s one vote against.", then he looks to 37 "…and one vote for. Here’s my plan." He takes out his rope of climbing once again. "This rope can attach itself to anything.", you watch as he commands it to attach to a nearby piece of broken furniture. It magically crawls its way to the wooden piece and wraps around it. He then pulls to prove it’s secure. "So we get close-ish, sixty feet, really. Have the cart ready to run, with all of us on board, obviously. Then get the rope to attach and we bolt out of here. The rope will pull the General back for us…", he looks around at the group. "He’s clearly not salvage, but there are those that would be very grateful to have a war hero returned for a proper burial. You’ve done much for me already, I’ll abide by your decision."

MaJunior says:
"Collector, I need to claim one of your bodies!"
OOC:
37 is hoping that the collector will still respond to instructions from other constructs, like it's still the war. He would approach the situation like a higher ranking soldier.
Earic looks on curiously, "…or we could try that."
OOC:
Roll me a persuasion check, with advantage due to Gzizmix’s spell.
Mar 27, 2023 2:52 am
OOC:
where is the body now? Should i get mage hand ready?
Mar 27, 2023 2:55 am
OOC:
Spiked onto the collectors back I believe. Perhaps the rope would be best for requiring the corpse.

OOC:
Respect my authori-tah!

Rolling with advantage, plus guidance.

The collector stops his current search to look at 37. It is unable to speak, but seems to wait expectantly, apparently compliant.
OOC:
Oh, the nat 1 would have been fun. Lol
Give me a DEX check to pull Gen. Shadeborn down without stabbing yourself on the spikes

37 will move towards the collector and attempt to remove the body of the general.

The collector patiently waits for 37 to select his corpse of choice. As the general is just out of his reach, he begins to climb between the gore covered spikes. He grabs hold of the impaled Shadeborn and pulls him free. As he climbs down, 37 slips on one of the blood soaked protrusions and takes a deep gash under his arm before falling to the ground.

The collector stares at you laying on the ground for a brief moment before resuming his macabre task. You could almost see an imperceptible head shake as it turns away.
OOC:
You take 10 points of piercing damage, but you have retrieved the General Shadeborn’s body. I noticed you haven’t restored your hit points, you did get a long rest.

During the whole discussion, Malbor has been standing, staring up at the ship. Even through 37's little "adventure" with the Collector, Malbor seems to be paying little attention, but after 37 returns, a bit bloodied and dragging a body, he speaks.

"I could reach the ship." after a moment of consideration he adds "and possibly get us all aboard."
Mar 27, 2023 11:38 am
Mordaky watched the scene and when he saw 37 slip the grip on his blade got a little tighter, but then lessened when he recovered and the collector went on it's way. He then turned to Malbor, "How do you see yourself doing that?"
Mar 27, 2023 3:43 pm
"As you were. Carry on, collector!" 37 instructs the behemoth before taking the body of the general back to the carriage.

"Well... that could have gone worse," 37 says with a light chuckle as he puts the corpse in the carriage. "So, now what? Back to the outpost?"
OOC:
I honestly thought I had. Thanks for reminding me!

Kleber stood in awe, mouth half-open, as he watched 37 recover the body with ease. When the warforged rejoined the group, Kleber's head swiveled from the carcass to the construct and back again. He opened his mouth to speak, but found himself at a loss for words. "wha... how? Its entire purpose's... but-" Frustrated, Kleber threw his arms up and nearly screamed, "How? It should not obey your commands, Ancestor's bones, the fact it's even working in this cursed place is weird enough!"

If Malbor can get us up to the wreck then should we check it out before leaving?

Earic Finnini
Earic watches in stunned silence as 37 returns with the General’s body. He’s equally as dumbfounded as Kleber. "I don’t even… how did you… Alright, sure. Why not?", he says incredulously.

Earic begins carefully and reverently wrapping the body of the stately half elf in his blanket and bundles him with his hempen rope. He finishes securing Shadeborn to the roof of the cart. "You lot may just be the craziest people I’ve met. First there’s some ghost circus. Then a creepy clown hydra. Now 37 just walks up to a cadaver collector and politely asks for a body. And is successful!". He takes a deep, calming breath before continuing, "I guess I shouldn’t judge, but Mr. Malbor, that ship has to be three hundred feet in the air. How do plan to get on board? And if it’s not functioning, can you get back down?"
Mar 27, 2023 6:13 pm
Core quips in, "We should gather as much soarwood as we can. It is rather valuable."

37 shrugs, mimicking a behavior he has observed in regular people. "We are both constructs, made to serve in different aspects of the war. Now that the war is over, we both continue our duties... in my case, just in slightly different ways. Collectors were not made to be incontrollable. Someone has to be able to direct them. That one seemingly still responds well to ordersfrom its own kind. That said... I have pushed my luck far enough and then some."

Leaning forward, he adds, "I'm also curious how you plan to get aboard the ship, Malbor."

Malbor seems at a bit of loss to explain, then beings haltingly..

"Well.. ever since..
not important..
but.. I have some.. hmm.. limited control..
over storms.. no.. not storms exactly..
the power of the storm?
no that's not it.. but something like that..
it is hard to describe.
I can climb into the sky, maybe take a few of you with me..
maybe take a rope with me..
or if we had a platform.."

"and if it doesn't move."

He seems most worried about this last possibility

Confident, and perhaps a bit snug internally, in the knowledge that 37 world likely have failed without his gods blessing Gzizmix looks up to the wreck and then to the flattering Malbor. If your can not bring us all then perhaps is is best we go back and prepare so that when tree return we can stick together. I believe the environment has proven that our team complements each other and we work well together. Splitting the team can be understand and even disastrous.
How many can you take with you? What is we used a large enough section for all of us to stand on of the soarwood. Could you take us all then

Gzizmix looks for a suitable piece that is within 60 feet of the ground

With thoughts to go up there, "I have 50' of rope. Do we have more?"
Mar 27, 2023 11:17 pm
"Yes. A piece of soarwood. That would work." Malbor sizes up the members of the group.

"I have never tried this with anyone, maybe two.. three if they are light?" it sounds more like a question than an answer.
