Salvation Outpost

Your group settles down at a table in the raucous Grey Beyond. The job board as always sits predominantly on the far wall. The orc waiter makes his way through the crowd dropping drinks and collecting hard earned coin. You don’t see Earic yet.

In one corner, a group of four scavengers play a game of cards. At another table, a crew sits huddled closely, trading whispers. Most others, like yourselves, look like they’re here to unwind after a long day of salvage. Some are drinking in silence, staring off into space, others are boisterously bragging about their salvage.

After a few minutes, the waiter makes his way to your table to take your orders.
OOC:
Gzizmix, give me a perception check. Anyone else may do so as well. Let me know what you’re looking for.

Mordacky, card game is like baccarat. Draw two cards, add them together. If the total is more than nine, continue counting from 1.
For example 7+6=13. Simplistically, when over 9, subtract 10. Therefore, a 13 becomes 3, 17 becomes 7 and 10 becomes 0. You may draw a third card if you wish and add it to your total. Once again, if you exceed 9, start from 0. Highest total wins. Cards will be a d10 for each one drawn (2 10s = 0, unfortunately).
Bets are made after everyone has finished drawing cards.

I hope that makes sense. You may hide your rolls of course.

After taking a seat, Kleber signals the waiter for a serving of ale and stew. While waiting for the food, he scans the bar, eyes halting at the card game. Quickly tearing his gaze away, Kleber reminds himself that it's unwise to gamble while already in debt.

Since there's no work on the job board good enough to divert his attention from salvaging the airship, the half-orc decides to eavesdrop on the boasting scavengers. With any luck, he might gain some valuable insight into the Mournlands from their bragging.

Core settles in for some stew and drink while he awaits Earic to come. He keeps open ears on what the other scavengers are up to.

As always, Malbor sits quietly, but seems a bit more at ease once he has a drink or two, the alcohol dulling the unending torment of the thoughts of others.
"We should get back to our work as soon as possible." he muses at one point, being careful to leave out any specifics that might be overheard by prying patrons.
Apr 6, 2023 1:26 am
As he finishes eating he puts his notebook away and concurs with Malbor. A night in town that we are still familiar with while in the midst of a ongoing venture does not seem worth the risk. I suggest we retire and get some sleep so we can set out again.
Gzizmix will se if anyone would like to share a room and head out to secure rooms where thhey had slept previously, the Salvation Hotel.
Apr 6, 2023 1:35 am
37 is perfectly willing to share a room, since he doesn't actually sleep.

Kleber tries to listen in to the group next to them. It’s the usual ‘big fish’ stories of gold filled treasure chests and exotic magical items. In your short experience, you feel it’s not very likely. Your food arrives and is pretty good for a place like this.

Gzizmix subtly listens in on the whispering group, you get a few moments where you’re able to piece together their conversation. The crew is in town from Korth to investigate a rumour that someone managed to find and enter the city of Kalazart. It appears that the city may actually be relatively intact. You catch mentions of some sort of cursed enchantment around the area of city and adventurers either become lost, disoriented or just simply never return. It’s clear they don’t have a name yet, but are seeking to find a werecat.

Earic comes in as most of you are finishing up your respective dinners. He orders a large mead and settles down at the table with. He’s obviously keeping the conversation as low key as possible. "Tonight we relax and enjoy ourselves. Tomorrow, will prove to be an interesting day, I assure you.", he nods with his mead in hand and takes a swig. "Are you gentlemen fine to meet at sunrise at Bela’s?"
OOC:
I’m assuming you’ll want to get your rest in for the night, but let me know if there’s anything else you would like to do in the tavern or otherwise.

Malbor retires to a solitary room, having both the coin and the desire to sleep alone.
Apr 6, 2023 10:57 am
Kleber nods, taking a few sips of his third drink after the stew. "Sure thing, but can you explain the plan for-" He abruptly cuts himself off with a fake cough, hiding how he was going to discuss the job in a bar full of rival teams. "*clears throat* It went down the wrong way. Let's talk more tomorrow, soo tired I can't even get drunk without choking myself after todays work." Kleber sidelong glances at the other patrons of the tavern, wary of potential eavesdroppers.

"After finishing this one" he adds, raising the half-full tankard "then I head to bed."

Core asks how much we made from the sales of goods today.
Apr 7, 2023 7:03 am
Earic finishes his mead and says to Core, "That’ll be up to Bela tomorow." He pats him in the shoulder, nods to everyone and bids you a good night. With an early morning beckoning you to sleep, you wrap up your evening, settles your bills and head to the hotel. It dawns on you that you haven’t spent a night in town since your arrival.

The Salvation Hotel is easy to find ant at this late hour, a sleepy young halfling welcomes you and lazily takes your coin, handing keys to the rooms. A large Blink Dog herald of House Ghallanda hangs on the wall behind the front desk. It is a modest location and charges a gold piece per night. The rooms are sparse, but comfortable. The night passes without incident and you all enjoy a long rest.

You assemble in the dining area for a quick breakfast and leave for the salvage market to negotiate with Belaluur for your newly collected items. Earic is already there when you arrive, as is groggy Garundah.

Belaluur
Well, good morning Gentlemen!", Belaluur greets you with her usual bubbly persona. "I see Earic let you in to the warehouse last night. I hope you don’t mind, I was snooping around to see what you’ve brought me. I couldn’t help but notice that lovely cannon. It’s a shame it’s broken. Earic says there’s more locked inside your cart?"

Core retrieves the packed up items and Malbor brings down his soarwood from the roof. "Splendid! I don’t get soarwood very often.", she picks through your items, is surprisingly the most intrigued by the decanter. "My my, there’s fresh coffee in here.", she pours herself a cup, "Tasty too. What a marvellous item."

Impressed with what you have and some of the unique items. She comments on the horn being a horn of silent alarm. She says they’re not uncommon to see one, but it’s been awhile. The goblets are common, usually given to officers of Cyre. She takes some notes, scratching her chin. "How does a thousand gold pieces for the lot sound?"

Malbor stays silent. He is less interested in the actual sum of money they have gained than other possible benefits that may arise from their ventures.

The horn could be useful to keep. Sounds good otherwise.
Could we get some climbing kids as a part of the payment?

Gzizmix explains his idea about the kits to the others. All long as we are all in a climbing harness and yours too a single rope then Malbor should be able to transport it more easily

Vice speaks up "It sounds low I'd say. You almost gave us that much for the last batch of stuff we brought, and that lot had no soard wood and no cannon. You said yourself you don't get soarwood often."
OOC:
what happened with the body we brought back?

Earic took Shadeborn’s body to the temple last night.

Belaluur
Belaluur eyes Vice playfully. "Just for you sweetie. Since Zizz would like to keep the horn, I won’t take the one seventy-five it’s worth from the total."

She looks to the rest of the group for approval. "Do we have a deal?", she takes out a ledger and begins documenting your salvaged items.

Earic Finnini
As she does so, Earic clears his throat to chime in, "I would like the bell to present along with the Cyre’s flag to Lady d’Cannith." He turns to your group. "Now that we’re in private, I’d like to discuss my plan. I intend to travel to New Cyre to deliver proof of the airship’s location and General Shadeborn’s body to the Lady personally. A coach would take me two days and two hundred and fifty gold to get there. If you’re willing to take me, I would pay you six hundred for the return trip, plus your expenses. More importantly, I would be able to introduce you to Lady Rayna d’Cannith. It will be her resources that will get the Cyre ir’Wynarn out of the Mournland. Its secrets will help tremendously with her plans for New Cyre.", he pauses in contemplation for a moment, then sighs. "I feel I should ensure you’re comfortable with helping in this matter. There are many in Breland that fear and oppose New Cyre’s development. You may make many enemies if they find out you’re supporting the Lady."
Apr 7, 2023 7:40 pm
Kleber crosses his arm thinking "Would the brelanders care that much about some Cyre refugees getting their hands on a wreck? I can see some overpatriot guys making a fuss, but aren't the exiled king and the Breland king in good terms?"

He cocks his head a bit "And lets be real, Lady d'Cannith will make sure her house will get the most out of this whole deal"
