Malbor drops to his knees and grabs his head with both hands, dropping the crystal in the process.

"THE BLACK SHIP.. IT'S COMING.. DUMP EVERYTHING! IT'S FIRING AT US... OH MY GOD.. IT'S BROKEN LOOSE. ARGHHHHH!"

It takes him a few moments to recover, then he stands up slowly, picking the crystal back up carefully.

"That was.. uhh... unexpected. This ship was definitely attacked.. by another ship. Black and red. It had some sort of magical weapon that tore thru the hull and released the elementals."

"Do you happen to know how long ago that was? Is that ship still a danger now?"

Malbor turns to the Air Elemental and utters more wispy phrases.

Sloane returns carrying an armful of tools and scurries back across the gangway. She overhears Vice’s question. "She’s too damaged to fly on her own right now. But, the repairs will be much easier if we have a functioning crystal. Finding a big enough Khyber crystal and a powerful enough elemental to bind could take months."

As she gets set up, she addresses Kleber. "If this works, we’ll have to assess her, but from what I see, she’s structurally sound. We’ll check below deck of course to make sure."

She then notices the faint glow of the crystal in Malbor’s hands. "Oh wow! Have you dealt with elementals before?", she takes out a magical tool that Gzizmix recognizes from their tumble in the mists. "You must have some kind of connection to elemental magic." she says excitedly. "Okay, if you’re fine with it, we’ll use you to add a little juice here then. Now, this tool amplifies the crystal’s binding spell. Ask her to place her… ’hands’ on the crystal and I’ll fire it up."
OOC:
Let me know if you agree to hold the crystal.

"Vice. It was some time ago. At least two years. The ship was chased by an 'evil cloud'. I suppose the black ship must have come out of it. Or used it as a cloak."

"Yes Sloan. I have some experience." Malbor states plainly. "I will aid as I can."

He takes the crystal then turns to speak to the elemental.

Everyone watches as the elemental wraps wispy, finger-like tendrils around the crystal. Sloane uses the magical tool to cast the same aura Gzizmix saw earlier. The runes deep within the Khyber crystal flash to life. The elemental swirls around Malbor and the group watches as she is drawn into the crystal. There is a brilliant flash of a beautiful blue light as the last of the air elemental disappears from sight.

Nictorah sent a note to Ganesh
Those around Malbor watch as he is locked with an iron grip on the crystal. He sits motionless for a few moments as the crystal radiates its elemental energy through his hands.

Looking from Malbor to Sloane Gzizmix comments Willing bindings like that probably dont't happen too often. I believe it is only due to the elementals affinity for Cyre.
Now how do we get the crystal installed? Is he supposd to be all stiff like that or is he having another eppisode?

Malbor says only.. "I remember now."

'Well, that's ominous' Vice says 'Are you recalling your past? Or the ships? Or the elementals?'

Sloane
Sloane switches off her magical device. She reaches out and gently takes the crystal from Malbor’s hands. She eyes the drow closely with concern. Hesitating for a moment, she then turns and addresses the captain. "I can put the elemental back into the matrix, but she won’t fly under her own power till she’s repaired. She’ll need a tug out of this wretched place."

Capt. Vren
"Very well. We’ll make preparations for departure immediately. We may yet have daylight on the other side of the grey.". The Captain begins giving orders to Jean and Faeris to pull the gangway back and prepare to tether the Cyre. He tells Rune to update him on the status of Camran. Then he addresses your group still aboard the Cyre. "We’ll reposition the Zarantyr to tow from the stern. Ensure there are no further threats below deck. Sloane, check in the status of those ballistae and cannons and ensure that she’ll survive a trip through the mists. We may have use of them before our return to New Cyre."

Malbor looks directly into Vice's eyes.. and Vice thinks he can see a storm swirling in Malbor's pupils.

"Yes."

As they prepare to finish searching the rest of the ship Gzizmix asks Sloane Will the ballistae still work?
I though they used the fire elemental for power

When the others are ready Gzizmix will accompany them in their search efforts. He will focus on finding any records, magic, or anything out of place. He will retrieve the moontouched greatsword.

Sloane
Sloane has Gzizmix follow her back to the propulsion matrix where she sets the crystal back in its place. "The elemental ring only moves the ship. I’ve never seen a ship’s weapons integrated into the vessel like this. I bet Cyre could help answer. But first, let’s check the damage and see what’s below deck."

Vice scampers across the gangway before it gets retracted and offers to help. With Camran still on the mend, Faeris is happy to have an extra set of hands. The captain works with Rune to maneuver the smaller ship into position. From there, Faeris explains the mooring lines and how they will be bound. Each of the lines are much thicker than the small gnome’ legs, but Vice happily drags the massive lines where they’re needed.

Kleber searches the Cyre’s general’s quarters more thoroughly. He finds detailed maps and charts for the continent of Khorvaire as well as maps of the continents of Xen’Drik, Argonnessen, Sarlona and the islands of the elvish nation of Arsenal. You also find General Shadeborn’s private journal. As with Ravensoar’s journal, it appears to be used, but blank upon inspection.

Sloane and Gzizmix go below to the gun deck. Gzizmix uses the light from the moon-touched sword to light the darkened area. Together they find numerous balliste and elemental canons. They appear to have been previously fired as none of them are loaded. Around you are the bodies of numerous fallen Cyran soldiers. Crates of ballista bolts and round iron balls you assume are for the cannons are set all around the deck. There does not appear to be a mechanism for loading the weapons. Upon closer inspection, Sloane surmises the weapon’s aim and firing is controlled by Cyre herself, but the crew must have been tasked with reloading. She makes mention of something called an ‘docent’ and how each weapon is connected to the warforged matrix. She briefly explains how that’s separate from the elemental matrix that propels the airship. There are also manual triggers for each weapon as well, presumably in case Cyre is incapacitated. She’s unsure how the Cyre can see a target, or how the warforged controls the elemental ring, but begins making a list of questions for her.

The lowest deck is the crew deck where you also find the ship’s hold filled with crates of all sizes, filled with weapons, shields and armour of all types. The ship’s galley is stocked with food which strangely seems not to have rotten. The crew’s quarters are cramped, but comfortable. The moonlight from the sword casts an eerie light across the grey skin of the soldiers scattered throughout the deck. Among the falls elven crew, you find a young gnome with a Mark of Scribing on his wrist. There are book shelves and personal effects a cask of wine. "These men deserve a better fate than this.", Sloane says sombrely.

Sloane happily reports that the damage is substantial, but the vessel is stable enough to tow without concern.

If there is something specific you’re hoping to find, whether it’s a common item, information, an upgrade, etc. please let me know. That’s in addition to the bigger item I asked for in the OOC.

37 will assist with tethering the salvaged ship to get it ready to tow.
Jul 15, 2023 2:22 am
Ensuring that no one is watching Kleber slips the unique Argonnessen and Xen'drik maps into his pack. The House probably already has maps of these regions, but it never hurts to have more sources to compare. After that he double-checks the journal, flipping through its pages once again, which doesn't change it's blank pages. Kleber clicks his tongue in annoyance and sets off to find Gzizmix, in the hopes the knowledgeable gnome has a way to reveal the contents of the clearly worn diary.

Earic comes aboard before the gangway is removed. After a discussion with Sloane, he goes into the room to speak with Cyre.

As Kleber returns to search the general’s cabin, he searches the chest at the foot of the bed. It appears most of the items have been removed. Likely being worn when the general was thrown from the ship. However, he discovers a large wooden case at the bottom. Upon opening it, he discovers it contains two repeating shot hand crossbows complete with an extra set of cylinders and holsters.
[ +- ] Repeating Hand Crossbows x2
Meanwhile, in the crew quarters on the lower deck, Gzizmix hears a dull humming sound. He tracks the source of the sound cautiously. Poking out from under one of the bodies, he discovers a spear with an eye fashioned into its tip. As he removes it, the spear goes silent.
[ +- ] Spear of Warning
Vice makes he way around the deck to help secure the ship. As he passes one of the fallen elves, the body seems to fade out of sight from his periphery. He takes a second look and the elf reappears. Knowing the history of the Mournland, he carefully approaches continuing to watch the elf phase in and out of view. He turns the elf over and the hood rolls back allowing the body to pop into full view. Vice puts the hood back up and the elf once again seems to flicker almost like a mirage. He removes the garment and sees a finely made green elven cloak. Excitedly, he tries it on, but the effect doesn’t appear to work as well.
[ +- ] Cloak of Elvenkind
Malbor notices Earic, who is excited talking to the calm and polite Cyre. She seems much more at ease now. There might even be a hint of humour in her green eyes. Malbor joins Kleber in going through the general’s quarters. Having served on an airship, he knows how their commanders like to hide important items from sight. He peaks behind a bookshelf where he finds a winged staff with a faintly glowing blue orb. Taking it, he wanders back out to the main deck to inspect it as the sun approaches the grey mist in the distance.
[ +- ] Skyblinder Staff
37 recalls the two chests in Cyre’s quarters and greets Earic. He asks Cyre about the chests. Cyre responds that the chests belonged to General Shadeborn and Colonel Moonsong. 37 tries the keys once more, Shadeborn’s is magically locked. However, Moonsong’s opens to reveal an ornately, elaborate plate armour. Earic whistles softly, "My word, that’s adamantine…". Cyre responds, "Colonel Moonsongs was very fond of it. He was very much the same size and build as you Mr. 37."
[ +- ] Adamantine Plate Armour
She pauses for a moment, seemingly distracted, she then says, "The captain of your ship is looking for assistance."

37 says he’ll return for the armour and goes to the poop deck to help the captain aboard the Zarantyr with tethering from aboard the Cyre.

There isn’t much time to revel in the discovery of these items as the crew has finished securely fastening the two ships together. Sloane and Earic stay aboard the Cyre, Vice remains aboard the Zarantyr taking in everything he can during the crew’s work. The captain orders everyone be prepared for the Mists this time and begins towing the mighty Cyre ir’Wynarn toward the ghostly curtain. He begins a slow ascent, putting distance between the ships and the ground. It’s obvious that the speed is greatly affected by the massive ship being pulled by the much smaller one. However, you make good time and reach the Grey Mists with daylight to spare. This time Captain Vren the captain goes a little slower, keeping good tension on the tow ropes. Ordering everyone below deck and to secure themselves, he begins his final approach into the mouths of the waiting spirits.
Jul 15, 2023 2:03 pm
37 will be on the deck, taking time to secure himself more efficiently as he knows what to expect this time.

If anything happens to the tethers, he needs to be in a position to react quickly.
Jul 15, 2023 5:54 pm
Gzizmix would like to remain on the Cyre, if possible, during the voyage
Jul 16, 2023 12:32 am
Vice heads downstairs for the trip back through the mist. He pulls the newfound cloak around him tightly.
Even though it doesn't hide him yet like it did for its previous owner, Vice foolishly hopes it will somehow hide him from the ill effects of the faces in the mist.
