ClosedTiny Dungeon 2EPublic3 / weekScrol
You grew up in Flowergrove, a small village not really concerned with anything but the next harvest and the occasional attack by wild beasts.
Humans, Feys, Dwarfs and all kinds of other races live in or around Flowergrove in peaceful coexistence
Since you can remember the ruins of Castle Fearstone throne on top of the Icespire peak, a lone, jagged mountain rising up in the landscape a few days of marching away. You were always fascinated by and wanted to know more about them but everyone in the village refused to even go near the mountain the ruins. You were told that they were haunted but as you grew older you realized that the real reason to not go there is probably the dangerous way to the mountain itself and then the demanding ascent.
You and your friends are young adults now and the tiny village of Flowergrove starts to feel constricting. You want to go out and experience something exciting.
Just as you're all sitting outside one evening, lamenting about the lack of excitement in the village one of you points at Icespire peak.
The top of the mountain with its ruins is barely visible against the nearly black sky. And dancing around the ruins you see green flickering lights. Something that has never happened before. You all discuss different explanations for this phenomenon and as you go to sleep one thing is clear: This is the adventure you've been waiting for. You're gonna explore the source of those lights...

I've recently acquired quite a few RPG-rulebooks and I want to try out a few of them. Therefore I'm opening a Tiny Dungeons 2E game. My plan is to play one adventure with at least one level up so that we get a bit of experience with the rules
Tiny Dungeon is a rules lite system that resolves challenges by rolling 2d6. A 5 or 6 count as a success.

Story Hook:
You grew up in Flowergrove, a small village not really concerned with anything but the next harvest and the occasional attack by wild beasts.
Humans, Feys, Dwarfs and all kinds of other races live in or around Flowergrove in peaceful coexistence

You're gonna explore the source of those lights...

System: Tiny Dungeon 2E with the following variations
-I'll use the optional Zones rule for positioning in combat. This means that you aren't telling your exact position in combat but are in one of three zones (Close, Near Far) and only move between them. I'll explain those rules in more detail before a potential combat encounter
-In my experience it can interrupt the game flow quite a bit when you are waiting for a player to take an action during combat. Therefore I'll have the heroes and the enemies all roll initiative and the highest roll of each of those two groups is the initiative for the heroes/enemies.

Character generation:
You'll start as young adults at Level 1. If you have the Tiny Dungeons Rulebook you can use this for character generation else there are excellent customizable quickstart characters available for free on Drivethrurpg
Everything in the quickstart characters and the core rulebook is fair game.
I'm pretty flexible in regards on how you play your characters. I just demand that they are generally 'good' aligned.

Adventure tone and red lines
I plan to have the adventure be rather light hearted in order to get a feel for the Tiny Dungeons rules. I don't want any extreme violence (torture and the like...) as well as overtly erotic topics. Things like e.g. trying to flirt with someone to garnish a favor are allowed though.

Post frequency
About 3 posts per week.

If you're interested drop a short application with a character concept down below ;) A few sentences are enough.
If four or more people are interested I'll start the game. I plan for a maximum of six or maybe seven players.

Garik
Garik is a goblin with dreams of glory in combat. Raised in a quiet village to join the family business of crafting Herbal remedies the family was overjoyed when Garik developed the families latent Spell touched ability. Garik had other plans. Arranging to help convalesce an injured dwarven warrior he convinced the warrior to train him to fight. Developing his own unique style of fighting with his two shields he is anxious to set out as soon as possible, before his family learns of his plans.
Quote:
Belief : Glory and fame will come to the brave. Fear leads to ignominy and death.
Traits, spell touched, shield bearer, tavern brawler

I'd be very interested in this. Here is a quick character concept:
[ +- ] Foldrat the Dwarf
Slightly generic but I think it could match the simple game mechanics and light-hearted setting.

If you need a fourth, I love Tiny Dungeons and would be glad to play with you as DM. However, I have played TD before and don't want to take a spot away from someone else's first experience of a great game. So my name is one that you can bump off the list if there are too many players.

I'm interested, but I'm still working on a concept. Will update ASAP.

So we have four interested players. That's great and the characters so far look very cool and fitting!
I'll wait a bit more to see if we maybe get some more players

Nothing wrong with that as long as everyone is having fun ;)

I'll see if we get an overwhelming inflow of players but I'm ready to run the game for up to 7 players

Don't sweat it. ;)

Just to say, the Family Trade and Belief parts of character building are really important part of what distinguishes Tiny Dungeons (and the other Tiny Games). Not many games ask you to point to your character's core belief. A lot have your character's past occupation, but very few ask about your character's family. The character building is meant to situate your character into the world; they're not an outsider (at least, not by default).

And they have mechanical effects!

How is the belief used. I ask as I have never been lucky enough to get past season 0 as a player. I took it as a combination of alignment and personality. The core of the character. Does it have any mechanics?

It's not explicit in the rules, but the nature of the game allows you to factor it into Advantage and Disadvantage in a variety of situations.

I'll throw my name in.
Gale is a fey that lived with his family just out of town. They mostly provided furs and meat to the local butcher. That was until the lights of the peak.

I'll flesh out later as it is my first time on that sytem.

Very cool. So we have at least 5 players. Thanks for weighing in with your expertise Harrigan and tibbius. @Harrigan Are you interested in joining too?
I sent out the first invites and you can begin to create your characters. My plan is to have character generation finished until weekend so that we can start the game then but please don't feel pressured if you take a bit longer

Hello, I haven't played Tiny Dungeons before but I am very interested! I don't have a solid character concept personality wise but I was looking through the premade characters and am interested by the mystic dancer and the druid of seasons, so I would be making my character around that. Thinking on an orphan/foundling who was, for whatever reason, left in Flowergrove when they were young.

Always wanted to try Tiny Dungeon, please consider me if a spot opens up! I'd love to play a Starryeyed Explorer, Mystic Dancer or Druid of Seasons!

We've had a few dropouts so up to three players could join the campaign.
A short summary of the story so far:
The group met a trader that has been chased up a tree by a group of boars. The young heroes were able to resolve it peacefully by feeding the boars in exchange for them leaving.
After that the group was approached by a talking gopher that in fact is a human that has been turned into an animal by a mysterious artifact in a derelict wizard's tower. Currently the group is exploring the tower

Bumping this again. Still place for up to three players
