Session 2: Soul of Winter

As the hag drags Agna to the bottom of the ocean, the orc reaches the oar ring of the capsized boat. The creature lets go of her, surprised by the struggle. As Krell turns back to try again, the orc chieftain spirit heeds Izuhn's call and pushes the hag closer to the sinking ship, both being sucked by the vortex as the giant octopus takes its prize.

In the meantime, the extra lifeboats arrive, starting to take the survivors out of the water...

It looks like the entire ocean calms down once the Soul of Winter is gone. Nothing but quite wind and gentle waves remain after the chaotic and failed attempt to salvage of the damaged ship. In no time, the experienced crew manages find and rescue most of those that fell into the water, quickly making their way to the Icebreaker where frozen wet clothes are exchanged old dry olds, rum is shared to warm the body and the spirits and wounds are tended to. However, not before Captain Harkin checks everyone for the spoils.

A bit disappointed they didn't manage to recover much of value from the old ship, she claims all of it to pay for the ship maintenance and crew costs. There two items catch your interest: a ruined book Fizel found in the cabin where the altar was and the treasure chest the captain found when she conveniently disappeared from the fight.

After the incident, the Icebreaker peacefully makes its way north up the Sword Coast, the threat of the octopus ever present in the crew's minds. The air grows colder and colder with each passing day, and bits of seaborne ice now regularly drifts past the ship throughout the day. Captain Harkin has been strangely absent from most of the time, barely leaving her cabin except for grabbing food and doing her check-up routine.

Rumors quickly spread. Some say she was wounded valiantly fighting off a giant beast, others claim she is trying to open a magic chest to keep it the treasure for herself. Some go as far as believing the treasure was cursed and she fell prey to some type of sorcery.

With the captain's absence, the tension on board keeps increasing however, Fireshear, a large coastal mining town northwest of Luskan, is soon spotted which prevents whatever could have happened if you were on that ship for another day or two...
