It would giver Agna the +1 she need yes :D So we're assuming the magic circle is interrupted maybe by the ship tilting as it sinks, but someone helps Agna just enough for her to finish it successfully. I can use Fizel for that or you can describe how Izuhn does it @RAAMtentacles May 19, 2023 9:43 pm
Eyes focused intently on Agna, Izuhn watches as her magic circle nearly forms but is interrupted at the last moment. Using his experience at unweaving magic, he reaches out with magic of his own and reverses what he knows to knit the gap in her circle back together.

Izuhn quickly makes it up the ladder and helps Agna pull up the wounded sailor. The orc wastes no time and starts carving a magic circle, but the sea water start to fill the room as the ship quickly tilts port-side. Agna grabs the ladder to keep her balance, but the protection circle is unfinished at two undead creatures move closer to her.
"Here, hold my hand" Fizel shows up next to Izuhn, dripping from his beard. As the dwarf helps Agna get out the narrow corridor, even though not familiar with the orc's magic, Izuhn divines the missing part of ritual and infuses the circle with enough magic to activate it. The creatures shriek as the protective magic burns their rotten skin, forcing them away and deeper into the dark flooded corridors.
As the three of you manage to catch your breath, you look around the slippery main deck. A few of the scaly creatures are still running away from the bottom deck, sliding into freezing cold waters as the ship slowly starts to turn over. You notice captain Harkin helping the remaining sailor to climb away from the sinking side. "Starboard everyone. The rowboats should be almost here for us!" She shouts at everyone to move "up" the tilted deck.
I'm going to up the stakes here. Failure (slipping) will throw you into the water, critical success (raise the roll for two successes) will safe everyone.

OOC:
port-side is close to the water, starboard-side (where help is coming from) is 10 feet above the freezing water. The deck is wet and slippery. The ghasts are gone! well thought on that one 🎉 The octopus is not doing anything else for now. I'm going to up the stakes here. Failure (slipping) will throw you into the water, critical success (raise the roll for two successes) will safe everyone.

The unsteady motion of the sinking wreck sends a nauseous wave through Agna. She grits her teeth, willing the sensation to pass as the group make their way towards escape. Another wave slams into the ship, causing it to lurch, but the orc manages to press on without giving in to her discomfort.

Izuhn digs into the deck, boots on the ground and hands gripping any surface possible. However, his hands find no purchase and he begins to slip slowly down the deck. With a great effort he throws himself upwards, towards a handhold that might at least keep him on the deck. The very tips of his fingers grab hold and he's able to wrench himself upwards towards help.

"Man overboard!" Captain Harkin shouts as she checks everyone else. With a bold smile, she lets herself slides down into the water.

Ok help is here and you can get out next "turn"! One sailor and the captain are int he water, on the opposite side of the rowboats.May 23, 2023 12:58 pm
"What the devils be you doing, woman?!" Agna's impatience erupts into a coarse shout. She cups both hands around her mouth. "You there! Down in the boats! There's two in the water! Use your oars, damn you! Oars! Get them out of the there!"

I think RAAMtentacles is away for the moment so I'll just go with Agna's roll for now and wait a bit :D I'll have to re-read and update the story so far so this is the perfect time to do that 😅 So that is a persuasion fail... I'm going to go with the twist option here!Sea Hag

Let's take a small hiatus then, since I won't be around too much in the coming week either.Jun 11, 2023 1:50 am
Agna jumps, praying to land atop the rowboats thrashing on the water. The orc's heart thumps hard in her chest when she arcs through the air. Then her feet plants solidly on the rocking wood.

Oblivious to the action taking place on the other side of the ship, Izuhn continues to try and get further away from the water and climb towards the top of the listing vessel.
Slipping again, he gains no ground and if anything slides closer to the water. "What I wouldn't give for a good axe right now!"

Izuhn get +1 fatigue. One last check to stay out of the danger zone!Jun 13, 2023 12:23 pm
"Keep yer bloody hands to yerself, witch!" Agna bellows. Snatching one of the oars discarded in the chaos, the shaman hefts it in her hands and swings it with all her might as the hag lunges forward. The blow misses, and Agna feels the wind being knocked out of her as she collides with the charging monster.

At the captain's words Izuhn finally realizes the futility of staying in the ship and switches from climbing to jumping. He plants his feet on the deck, lets go of his handhold, and launches out with his legs. Splashing into the water near the captain, Izuhn avoids the danger of the sinking ship at nearly the last moment.
