Khyree’s personality should be a little more curt than my last post makes it seem. After reading it back, I wanted to delete and rewrite it with less information and more cynicism, but for sake of keeping our pace up I decided to leave it be.

Anyway, hope you guys are having fun.

Seck says:

Of course! :D

About Tasya and Khyree — I know the story was initially set up with Admiral, Tasya, and Khyree in mind, but it sometimes feels strange to interact with Tasya and now Khyree, since they are former PCs, and I was wondering if there might be a way to retire them somehow instead of dragging them around with us for the whole campaign? I know that’s a bit difficult because you came up with the story with Khyree and Tasya in mind, but maybe there’s a way to tweak it to get Regan more involved instead?

That's a bummer to me to hear that it feels strange to interact with Tasya and now with Khyree. Glad you spoke up about that oopsylon.

I believe we can soon fade Tasya out of being active in the game. Her actions can split off from Regan's and Admiral's since she is a dedicated circus member after all and she doesn't love in any way that her mother and Mischa have put her in this position. There will be a way--assuming the party does locate Lady Oceana--to transfer the knowledge Tasya holds in her subconscious to Regan or Admiral. She would be likely to then retreat back into her circus, feeling she does not have the strength to accomplish what her mother hoped she would--as the imp implied.

That said, perhaps Admiral and Regan ultimately will offer to champion her cause for her (🤞), a cause that they are themselves are heavily intertwined in.

Now Khyree, she definitely never wanted the path her master set her on. I see her being quite content to pass her torch to Admiral. I just need her to 'deliver' something first.

And since you mention Regan's role, Regan has a backstory that is connected to the fight against slavery, Taresh, and the original ringleader of Madagast circus. So he is pretty intertwined in this story. Also, he may find out more about his pact weapon's origins as well. I feel Ma is playing Regan strategically and waiting for the right time to reveal his 'hand'. Although Ma, please pipe in and let us know how you feel about all this.

oh yeah and Cordey...I developed a connection to the old Makai for him through his amulet. But Cordey will be content to return to his Lelay and will also feel responsible to get back to Martin with the skiff and get back to work in the shipyard.

Okay, great! Yes, I was thinking we might part ways with Tasya when we finished helping the circus troupe recover their ship, it was just that the introduction of Khyree made me think you might be planning to keep them both around in the long term and I wasn’t super excited about that so I thought I should let you know. Sorry for the bummer! I’ve been really enjoying the game otherwise and you’ve consistently been such a fantastic DM throughout! 😊

I've thoroughly enjoyed the story so far. I know it can be difficult story-wise in PbP, considering how often players can come and go.

As for Regan... I'm not sure if it's strategy or paranoia. That said, the two aren't mutually exclusive. I'm trying to not do that thing players do where we immediately tell others that we've never met before everything about ourselves, just because the player knows the other characters are PCs. And while the group seems honorable... we met during an undead attack and immediately got caught up in fey shenanigans -- Regan doesn't really know any of you yet (with one exception). He'll keep it relatively close to the vest for now.

A vague understanding that he's after slavers is more than enough... and should let him gauge the others' stance on that matter.

And I'd like to second the "fantastic GM" part! True words, Oopsy, true words.

Glad to hear you both are having fun and enjoy my GM approach. I am having fun too.

Okay let’s see how we continue to unfold this tale.

I think it's soon time to start a Chapter 5. Let's play out this night/rest in Chapter 4, but then I'll create a Chapter 5 thread for us to migrate to.

Okay, sounds good!

You guys can roleplay your plans for the night. (Who knows what could happen in these wilds?)

Since the party basically stayed up through the previous night I'm not sure it is very late in the day in game now but we can make it work. Whatever time it currently is, you guys can receive long rest through the 'night', and when you head out, we'll say it's very early dawn, pre sunrise. How's that sound?

Sounds good to me!

Ma, I bet either real life is currently keeping you very busy or you are waiting for me. In case it is the later, I figured I would check in. I was just waiting to see if Regan wanted to say or do anything before he retires his watch and gets some rest. No rush, worry, or hurry on my part just touching base. oopsylon, I'm sure we'll wake up Admiral soon enough.

Sorry! The issues with the site and the unread forums bug has made it hard to keep up with what actually has posts. You can always @ me. (I hope they get it sorted soon though.)
Jun 19, 2025 4:03 am
Ohh...I haven't been keeping up on community posts. But that makes sense. I have experienced some odd behavior lately.
Jun 19, 2025 4:14 am
The short version is forums are continuously marked as unread.

It makes keeping track of what threads have new posts and what doesn't a bit of a mess.

Before pushing the current scene further, I'm just checking to see if anyone wants to do anything.
Jun 22, 2025 1:55 pm
They're still far enough away Regan wouldn't do anything yet. He made an attempt at preventing the fight, but other than that it's a matter of range.
Jun 22, 2025 2:00 pm
Yeah there’s not much Admiral can do at this range either :P

Is the jungle dense enough that Admiral could climb a tree and continue making his way toward the boggle up in the canopy? It doesn’t look like it would be on the map, but it’s hard to tell what’s bushes and what’s trees through the fog on the map, so I thought I’d ask! The idea is to avoid getting swarmed by eel-hounds since they hopefully can’t climb as fast as Admiral and, even if they can, it seems like it would be difficult for them to surround him and attack him all at once if he’s standing on a branch

Alternatively, if Admiral were to stay put this round, would the eel-hounds reach him next round? If he stays still this round, he can use his feline agility again next round, so he would be able to move 120ft next round (the same as if he spent this round and the next round just Dashing (60 + 60)). If he runs forward now, he’ll have to move closer to the big group of eel-hounds so I’m wondering if it would be strategically better to stay put, wait for them to get closer, and then run past them with feline agility, if that makes sense?
