"Seems to be the route out of here, and to somewhere we can get some answers. I’m ready to travel, but not all of us have mounts."
May 30, 2023 9:57 pm
"Well, then we go slower than we might otherwise. Hup and I will keep a lookout for anymore raiders." She says patting the camels side. It spits and grunts as if in response.

Glump quickly estimates that you have about 4 hours left of daylight, give or take a few dozen minutes... Hopefully, this will be enough to get to either the village of the dumb lotus eaters or the raiders' camp by foot, as no scale is really given on your map. Well, at least you assume it should be the case seeing that the raiders were here and they didn't seem to have any mounts themselves, and judging by the map, they would have refused to stay in the ruins at night.

Palari takes a good hold of her staff and starts the long trek alongside the others.

She keeps a watch for the bowmen, and any other predatory creatures.

"We are going to need to find you a mount, Palari. Soon." Valmara comments, as she mounts up and sets her horse east in the general direction of the ruins. "Should we press on to the traders or chance the ruins?"

"I'm for the town if we can make it, but the Lotus Eaters might at least let us stay the night."
May 31, 2023 8:08 pm
"I agree that the town is our best chance. If we take a course that passes the Lotus Eaters then at least we have someone safer to spend the night than the open. They may not trade, but surely they will allow us to camp there." She replies to both Gilcyne and Valmara.

"If we can steer clear of the Ruins I think we will be safer. But the map seems to show that our path has to go thru the Ruins. So long as those watchers do not setup an ambush for us, we will hopefully make good time."

"The raiders' camp may be as unwelcoming as they." Valmara suggests. "HOME, may be nothing more than a camp of cutthroats living in an old ship."

Glump rides along in silence as they progress across the distance between the spire and the ruins.

As you prepare to leave, Korghar claims he wants to get to the bottom of those mysterious observers and he does not fear the ruins at night, and as such, refuses to travel with you.
OOC:
Seifi informed me he wished to bow out of my game for personal reason, so I guess having the barbarian with a language barrier act a bit stubborn right now might be appropriate...
Making your farewells to Korghar and wishing him best of luck, you pick a direction and leave the ruins. You find that the outsides of the ruins seem rather inhospitable and seems to be some sort fo badlands and semi-desertic region. You eventually find a road and follow it for maybe an hour of so until you reach a crossroads. According to your map, the south-ish branch should take you "home" (or at least what your attackers considered to be home), and the north-ish branch would lead you to the "dumb lotus-eaters".

OOC:
@seifi: Nice gaming with you and all the best.

@kalajel: Do we have any sense if we can reach the town before nightfall?

If not then we probably should head for the Lotus Eaters to camp overnight.

OOC:
Yes. You can definitely spot something in the distance in both directions perhaps a few hours walk away.
Jun 3, 2023 6:14 pm
OOC:
what about town? Any sign of that?
"Well, it seems it is time to make a choice. I don’t like the idea of south. Widows and orphans are bad enough, there might be more men looking to fight. I say we head north to maybe find a place to get our bearings."

OOC:
You can always make a check to see if you manage to determine what it is you're seeing in the distance as what you see is distorted by all that heat radiating out of the ground...

OOC:
Palari is happy to take the road north to the Lotus Eaters if the others are interested.
Jun 4, 2023 2:47 am
"Nor do I, Gilcyne." Valmara adds her thoughts and turns toward the path of the Lotus Eaters. "Anyone opposed to skipping the home of the raiders?"
Jun 4, 2023 3:42 am
While waiting for the rest oof the group to voice their opinion, Gilcyne looks to the East, toward the supposed town.
OOC:
So checked my abilities. Seems like this might fall under Survival. If Track makes more sense, ignore the second die I guess. Since my only ability bonus is in Strength no modifiers matter.

Gilcyne will indeed notice some tracks. They seem to be going from north to south, a small group pf people, maybe 3-5, and are several days old, perhaps even a week. There are for more tracks going from south to east, more frequent and larger groups (probably like the one you just defeated at the ruins) which seems to indicate that the raiders keep a semi-regular watch on the Spire.

Glump turns his horse toward the path that leads to these lotus-eating traders. "What are we waiting for?"
Jun 6, 2023 7:27 pm
Palari follows after the others along the road, scanning about for signs of ambush or danger as she goes.
