Hi everyone. I'm the usual DM with my friends, often itching to play a PC but rarely getting to. I've tried pbp before with mixed success, so I'm hoping to find more sustained success here. I did see Gamers Plane referenced as one of the friendliest and most welcoming pbp sites, which is very encouraging.
5th edition D&D is my system of choice these days (though I entered the hobby with 3.5). I suppose my perfect system would look a lot like 5e, but slimmed down a bit. My favored characters tend to fall somewhere in the rogue/bard/druid triangle. For some reason, my longest campaigns have always been when I play a rogue (or DM), and every time I try to play a druid it only lasts a couple sessions. But right now, I really want to play the rather unoptimized but still totally viable concept of a bard/druid multiclass, the sweet spot right in the middle of that rogue/bard/druid triangle.
I also should mention that I have a pretty hectic schedule, so while the pace of pbp is a great fit, I think I have to limit myself to playing in one game at a time and not trying to run any games on here (I WILL be tempted to exceed that). And I also like that pbp does not usually require all the bells and whistles of other forms of online play—prose is worth a thousand pictures, to me.
Looking forward to some interesting adventures! Happy gaming!
