"I am guessing this spirit has something to do with why there is this odd arrangement of rocks on the floor, that is blocking off the door leading west out of the kitchen?" Razhel asks, as she moves toward the rock pile in the indicated northeastern portion of the room. "What exactly are we looking for here?"

OOC:
Clarification: the rocks to the west do not block off anything. They are large but you could easily step over them. They appear more so to mark off the area.

"Could be a trap" Elias looks over the corner Grim mentioned. Raising his shield he approaches the rubble, trying to figure out what was the spirit be referring to

There's nothing immediately visible in or around the rubble. You could clear some of it, but it would take some time (about an hour).
OOC:
Up to you guys - thankfully an hour of in-game time clearing rubble goes by in a single post. You can try to puzzle that out, or otherwise move through the haunt (that's what it is) to the western door. You could also first head through the southern door into the next room there, which is not obstructed in any way.

Oh yeah! failed perception totally means I fall for it :D
"There doesn't seem to be anything here..." Elias say as he starts to clear some of the rubble. "We must guide that lost soul to The Lady's boneyard"
OOC:
I guess I can clear it in the background while others search. Guiding a soul sounds like a very paladin thing to do now

Razhel assists with moving rubble and looking through the rock pile.

After a little while and being completely uninterrupted, you come across human remains. Removing a few more rocks, you find the body is that of a twisted and battered man in a cook's outfit. It appears he met his end during the quake.
OOC:
Heal DC 17 check to learn more on the nature of the man's deather/injuries.

Religion DC 15 to get insight into how one might give the man a proper sending to the afterlife.

With no specific insight gained, it would be easy to conclude this man was caught under the rubble and crushed when the wall and part of the upper floor came down upon his head. While you do not know if this man may have had specific customs or beliefs that would lead to a more appropriate sending of this spirit, you could surmise a prayer, burial, or other common means of honoring the dead could quiet his soul.

The Lady of Graves did not care for how one found their way to her, only that the way was found. And in this place of horrors, the least Elias could do was to guide this poor soul through the river of Souls. He sends a prayer to Pharasma and performs minor purification rituals before attempting to remove the corpse to give it a proper burial.

Lacking any soft ground to provide a proper below-ground burial, Elias builds a makeshift cairn against the north wall for the deceased cook. As he finishes the final rituals, the room grows several degrees warmer, as if a chill draft had just been shuttered.

Grim feels the psychic energy recede from the room, as the haunt is dispelled.
OOC:
We still have the door to the south, inside the kitchen, and there is no longer a barrier between you and the far western door.

Once the spirit has been appeased, Grim moves over to the door on the western wall and opens it.

You step into an abandoned orderly station, now partially collapsed like so much of the asylum. The door on the north wall of this room is open to the outside grounds, and as such this room is filled with sickly, yellow mist.

Through the open, northern door, the bank of mist that lies outside is difficult to see through. Looking closely, you think you see a shadowed shape writhing around.

To the south is another door, this one closed.

''Should we venture outside? ' Even as Iosef asks he tries to peer through the mists, trying to see if he can glance anymore of that shape.

"Outside in the mist there's nothing but nightmares and monsters." Razhel says, as she picks a path through the southern hallway carefully to the door there. "We're looking for the one the Doc told us about that's causing the mist and stop it."

Paint chips the color of eggshells cover the floor of these halls. Many of the walls are cracked and sag.

As you progress down the hall, everyone please make Perception checks, DC 18

Elias spends some time trying to figure out the writhing shadowed shape in the mist, but Razhel is right. Nothing good can be hiding in the yellow mist. He turns and continues exploring the ruined building...

Grim and Elias see first - the wall ahead of them, along the southern edge of the East/West hallway ahead of them appears more unstable than others. Indeed, it looks as if with a strong push, it could fall right over.

How do you proceed?
