1.3 - In Search of Sanity - Never-Ending Nightmare

Both cultists see the flames coming and manage to turn themselves away from the the burning magic, but their robes catch fire and only a moment later their entire bodies are wreathed in flame. Even the most stout of you will remember the sounds of their screams for some time - the memory of that smell will last forever. (Ref Save: Success, -4hp to both - DEAD)

AF18 is the only one left standing. I'm going to let him get in one more attack since he's at full health, then I'll follow the writing on the wall and finish this fight up.

OOC:
AF18 has taken at least 6 hps damage so far, from Elias.

Iosef's crossbow bolt goes wide and plinks against the far wall.

The cultist knows he's about to die, but attacks with savage fury, screaming, "Zandalus! Herald of Dreams, I sleep for you!!" He comes in swinging with all his might, both hands upon his weapon, at Grim - desiring beyond hope to go out causing damage to a lesser-armored foe. He stumbles forward and falls to the ground in his zealous arrogance (miss).

He swats at you from the floor with his weapon like a rapid animal, fighting till his last breath. You fall upon him and end the man's life and suddenly the chaos of battle is over.

Searching the bodies you find very little of interest, except a pair of bracelets on Aggra Loomis's wrinkled arms that give off an aura of magic. Further searching the area, you find a harrow deck on that table in the center of the room. They apparently had been using the deck to play some meaningless gambling game, but Grim quickly ascertains the value of these cards, currently scattered across the table.

Searching the belongings stowed near and around the beds you find a great deal of coin, jewelry, and a pearl tooth.

Treasure:
Bracers (Magic, Spellcraft DC 22 to identify)
Harrow Deck (100gp)
Pearl Tooth (18gp)
200gp worth of coins and jewelry

The far western portion of the room curves up and around into another section of the floor.

Seeing the magical aura on the bracers Iosef picks them up and turns them over in his hands

Grim carefully gathers up all the Harrow cards he can find; counting them to see if they are all 54 are there. he fans them out in his hands and quickly visually examines the faces to see the differences and similarities in his own deck. Tied to the Harrow, as he is, in more ways than one, the medium reaches out to see if he can sense anything within the cards.

Rolls

Read Aura - (1d20+8)

(1) + 8 = 9

Psychometry - (1d20+4)

(14) + 4 = 18

Grim rifles through the deck and finds every card within to match a standard harrow deck, which which he is very familiar. They give off no particular readings of psychic importance - with one exception: the neutral card of intelligence, The Foreign Trader, depicts a veiled figure in yellow bearing an armful of misshapen rubies.

OOC:
A Kn: Planes DC 22 check will recognize what the figure on the card represents, if Grim decides to show it to someone trained in that skill.

Razhel nurses her battered shoulder. She finds the potion of healing in her pouch and quaffs it down. "Let's keep moving. If any of these foolish cult beliefs about their leader's ability to see holds true at all, we heed to get to his before he can put a plan together to oppose us."
OOC:
Back up to 16/21 so far.

"This fog isn't going to dissipate itself." Grim says, as he moves toward the only other viable opening besides the one they entered.

You round the corner into the next section of the floor.

Cracked pillars bent at broken angles support a sagging ceiling. While most of the walls look ready to fall apart, the northern wall has done so, creating a massive gap open to the strange weather beyond.

Opposite it, the wall in the best repair is laden with parchment pages covered in stark lines of coal and chalk. A hall stretches to the west as you get further into the room.

This dilapidated hall bears the broken supports and toppled brickwork of multiple rooms, former patients' cells, and nurse stations. At present it has more in common with an opium den, as the smoky breaths of weak figures fill the air.

Here, six yellow-clad men and woman kneel, their heads tilted back and mouths agape as thick yellow mist spews from their bodies and dumps out through the broken section of wall in a great voluminous cloud. They do not stir at your intrusion.

"Time to quality control these boots" Elias says as he notices another six of those weird yellow people. He does stop for a moment to look around for any other creepy old ladies hiding in the mist before starting kicking everyone though.
